This by far is my all time favorite series. I know this is number 6, but I'm really hoping there will be more to come. Once again, we have Nora and her Secret, Book and Scone Society together again, with another baffling mystery on their hands. A single mother is killed, leaving her young son, who has Aspergers, to deal with the fall out. Though he has an aunt and uncle, they are also at a loss. When Nora is arrested for the woman's death, things get really rolling. Wish I could give this one more than 5 stars. I highly recommend the whole series!!!

4.5/5 stars

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers, and Ellery Adams for allowing me to read and review this book.

This is book 6 of the Secret, Book, and Scone Society series. Technically, you do not have to read these books in order, but it is highly recommended to understand a lot of what is happened within the story and to get the full impact and references made.

I love this series so much. Books, baked goods, friendship, and murder, everything you would want to read about. The characters are really well-written. This series also touches on some serious topics, as well as having humor within it. There is also plenty of different book recommendations for a variety of topics. This series also follows a group of middle-aged women, in various places in their lives that have gone through various traumas in their lives.

This is a series I highly recommend. Especially if you love books about books, mysteries surrounding books, and books involving older main characters.

This is the sixth installment in the Secret, Book, & Scone Society series. I have read and loved every one of these mysteries. They are easy as stand alone, but to understand the beautifully well rounded characters and friendships you should try to read them all. This one surely did not disappoint, the loyalty and mysteries are completely engrossing and this is one of the greatest series to get lost in. Highly recommend!

Fans of Nora Pennington, owner of the Miracle Springs Bookstore will welcome the sixth installment of The Secret, Book, and Stone Society series, Paper Cuts.

Nora and her friends are back, and when Nora befriends a woman with a son on the spectrum who has just moved into the area, and she is found murdered, she is made the prime suspect. The woman, it turns out, was the ex-wife of Nora’s first husband, and Nora’s past comes back to haunt her (as well as her unscrupulous ex-husband). Nora and her friends investigate, and there are a couple of additional murders, as well as a burglary in the home of the murdered woman where valuable books are stolen.

As usual, Adams does an excellent job of developing her characters. Readers of the previous novels will be familiar with them, but the author does a good job of introducing them in this book so it can actually be read as a standalone novel. Adams is also a talented storyteller; the story is easy to follow, and actually keeps readers on the edge. Nora’s romantic interest is the chief of police in Miracle Springs, so as a suspect, she doesn’t have the support she would have generally have had. There are several viable suspects

All told, this is an excellent cozy novel, and is probably the best of the series. This series is fun to read, and this novel has enough ups and downs to keep readers interested. Can’t wait for the next installment.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Nora gets the shock of her life when the woman her ex-husband left her for shows up in Miracle Springs, along with her son. Before she can trust come to grips with that, the woman ends up dead, and Nora is the prime suspect.

I really enjoy this series, especially how Nora’s friends all surround her immediately with love and protection. The relationships are the best part of the series.

Though I own all of the previous books in the Secret, Book, & Scone Society series, this is the first one I have read. Not sure that was a good idea! There were a lot of characters to get to know and it may have helped if I had read earlier books in the series. The book a bit too long and that made it difficult for me to stay invested knowing how long it would be before I could get to the end and find out what was going on. I love books about books and when it is set in my home state of NC, then I am interested in getting lost in the story. Even though this one didn’t appeal to me, I will definitely go back and read the first book in the series to see if I want to spend any more time with the characters of Miracle Springs, NC and the Secret, Book, & Scone Society.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Cozies for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

This was my favorite of the series so far. The level of growth and change exhibited not just by all of the characters but of Nora had me loving this book more and more. The level of depth and how much we really got to know Nora and her background and then we saw her work through that past and come out the other side stronger than ever.

Take your mind off of current affairs in the world and lose yourself in a good book. The ladies of the Secret Book and Scone Society are back just in time for you kick back, pour yourself a glass of ice tea, and settle in for an enjoyable afternoon of reading. PAPER CUTS by Ellery Adams latest offering provides 20 relatively short chapters of vivid characters, warm friendships, love, a mystery, and of course a murder.

This time Nora Pennington, who owns Miracle Books in Miracle Springs, North Carolina is the primary suspect in the murder of her ex-husbands second wife…….but there is more going on here…….much more which will not be divulged here lest it ruin your reading pleasure.

This is a cozy infused with plenty of red herrings, a great cast of characters (some you will absolutely love and welcome into your life - others not so much). The narrative will draw you in and leave you thirsting for more.

Paper Cuts is a tremendous cozy thriller. It is book six in the A Secret, Book, and Scone Society Novel series and can be read as a standalone novel, but readers new to the series will want to go back and catch up on books one to five. Set in Miracle Springs around the Blue Ridge Mountains, Nora is a bookstore owner who is in a relationship with the county sheriff. Nora's book discussion group meets to discuss novels and dabble in solving local crimes. Nora is an original character who is escaping a mistake but has landed on solid ground as a small-town bookstore owner. Her friends are all shop owners. The joy of Paper Cuts is, though it has some standard elements of the genre, the plot is original. Great read. Highly recommended.

The local bookstore owner, Nora Pennington, has her hands full as local events put her in the spotlight as a person of interest. As the girlfriend of the Sheriff McCabe, this puts her in quite a predicament.
Preteen Tucker is neurodivergent and visiting town with his terminally-ill mother. She wants to smooth his path with his aunt and uncle before she passes.
As a cozy mystery, this story has twists and turns and a whole passel of characters who make up the community.

Twists and turns galore, with a couple of red herrings. I love Nora’s ability to match people with books.
Many thanks to Kensington and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is one of my highly anticipated cozy mysteries and once again Ellery Adams’ writing is chef’s kiss. I find myself again in Nora’s word and her past collides with her present and her world is turned upside.

I know I’ve been neglecting my arcs for a while but now that I’m feeling all the fomo, it was so easy to read this book very very quickly.

It’s always such fun to be back in Miracle Springs and even though this is the only cozy mystery I’ve ever read, I hope the author continues to write more and more. This time the plot hits too close to home because Nora’s repressed past finally comes back to haunt her, but it was as always nice to see that she had all the support of her friends, her community and boyfriend. The mystery as always isn’t too difficult to solve though it did take an unexpected turn towards the end, which was interesting. We also have a new addition of characters to the town and while their introduction felt a bit hostile, they ended up being pretty cool towards the end. All our four ladies are also embarking on new avenues in their lives and I was very happy to see that.

Overall, this book as always gave me the comfort I was seeking, along with a super fun booklist towards the end. The next one will hopefully come out next year and I will be eagerly waiting for sure.

Princess Fuzzypants here: Nora and the Secret Scone Society are all woman who have bonded together as they have escaped their pasts that might have crippled less strong people. She has done a great job leaving it all behind until the day that it walks in her door. The woman for whom her husband left her and their child wander in. The woman’s health is failing but that is not her only problems. And when she is murdered, Nora is a suspect and no one can help her including her boyfriend who must recuse himself from the investigation.

Worse still, the man who began her spiral downwards shows up and the years have not mellowed nor improved him,. Nora realizes that she is the lucky one but the innocent child his mother left behind is vulnerable to his father. Nora realizes she must solve the mother’s murder and try and keep the child from her ex’s clutches.

Five purrs and two paws up.

Paper Cuts by Ellery Adams is an easy to read page turning book with a little romance and mystery solving all wrapped into one story.

The characters were friendly, sincere, and supportive to one another. I would say this is what I liked most about the book. The author set up each chapter nicely with quotes that gives the reader some insight on what is about to take place in the chapter.

As an avid book reader, I enjoyed and appreciated the author's motion to join the book community into her story by putting together lists of book titles for specific display themes. The author also compiled listing of the books in each display at the end of the book.

If you are a fan of Virgin River, Paper Cuts should be your next read!

Ellery Adams continues her Secret Book and Scone Society with Paper Cuts. Nora Pennington, book store owner, has a visit from Kelly the woman for whom her former husband left her; Kelly is terminally ill and wants to apologize but is murdered. Nora is a suspect and in looking into the death a number of suspects pop up, including that former husband. Lots of twists and turns with an interesting series of characters in a small town. Read this for sure.

Paper Cuts by Ellery Adams brings protagonist Nora Pennington and her friends in the Secret, Book and Scone Society full circle when a young woman, Kelly, arrives in town and brings Nora's past crashing into her present. When Kelly is discovered murdered the morning after an argument with Nora, the police department takes a strong look at Nora as a suspect especially since Kelly was the pregnant lover whose discovery ultimately caused both the breakup of Nora's marriage and the accident that changed Nora's life forever.

Each of the characters in this series are very realistic and multidimensional in that they bring their flawed pasts to the table and enrich the stories that much more. As the series has developed, the addition of extended family members for each of the main characters have strengthened the bonds between them and made them into well-rounded individuals that leave the reader rooting for a positive outcome and happy ending for all. By bringing in the people from Nora's past, the author has created a vehicle to enable Nora to look to the future and continue to build on the life she has now. Within this book, the author has also given the other characters a chance to demonstrate to Nora the strength of their commitment to her so she no longer needs to always be strong for everyone else. I sincerely hope the author continues this series as I can see that there is far more exploration and growth within each of these characters and their various relationships.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and Kensington Books and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Paper Cuts is the sixth book in the Secret, Book & Scone Society Series by Ellery Adams. I must say, each book I read that is penned by Ellery Adams is a true delight in reading. I escape and fully immerse myself in the storytelling. In essence – my happy place.

The members of The Secret, Book, and Scone Society (Nora Pennington-owner of Miracle Books, Hester Winthrop, Estella Sadler, June Dixon) once again are involved in sleuthing…no surprise there since this is after all a cozy mystery ☺.

In the small town of Miracle Springs, Nora Pennington runs her bookstore Miracle Books. What is unique is that Nora just seems to know which book a customer needs when they enter the store and have a brief discussion. Pretty cool talent if you ask me! In this story, Nora must deal with a blast from her past – and not in a good way. Nora comes face-to-face with Kelly Walsh – the woman that her ex husband left her for. What is she doing in Miracle Springs? And with her special young boy who has a real gift for origami. Kelly is very ill, hence the move to Miracle Springs, and wishes to make amends with Nora for the strife she caused previously with Nora’s ex and their relationship. The murder victim ends up being Kelly. This does perplex Nora as who would want a terminally ill person dead? Given their “history” it is no surprise that Nora is pegged as a likely suspect. So to clear her name the Secret, Book and Scone Society get to work to clear Nora’s name.

The challenge with Nora being a possible suspect is that she no longer has the obvious and overt closeness of her beau, Deputy Grant McCabe. Naturally, he believes she’s innocent; however, being in law enforcement means they must stay apart during the investigation. Now that is very tough on Nora!

There is also a sub storyline which I feel was written very well and certainly added a dimension to the story. This deals with Gus and his re-entry into life after being incarcerated and how he reacts to being reunited with his daughter Estella. I applaud Ellery for bringing to light the challenges faced by ex-offenders to find work and restart their lives… and how difficult that can be.

With respect to the book jacket, who doesn’t love a few rows of books? Very eye catching.

I found the mystery complex enough, with many red herrings, to keep my interest throughout. I shall not get into specifics because that is half the fun of reading cozy mysteries – figuring out whodunit yourself! In fact, I did not figure out the whodunit until the very end – which is how I like my cozy mysteries!

I highly recommend this sixth installment in the Secret, Book & Scone Society Series by Ellery Adams.
