This book was cute, and kind of unexpected in a good way. The relationship between the MCs was a bit weird, in that it was made clear that they knew each other prior to the start of the book, but we were almost led to believe that there was more to their past than there was…I don’t know, that bit was confusing. They were also will they/won’t they to the extreme, and they kept circling each other and contradicting themselves with the “I don’t want to be with you/I want to be with you” nonsense.

Generally though, it was fine. An easy read, and unexpectedly spicy, which is always a pleasant surprise!

I was given an ARC by NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op. All opinions are my own.

This was an absolute pleasure to read. I read it in a day. I didn't expect it to be a five star read, but considering I couldn't put it down once I started, that only seems fair.

This is somewhat of a second chance romance, and also about two people recovering after heartbreak.

The game they play throughout the story is adorable, and I love how it becomes a theme.

There is cheating, so fair warning there, but of course there is a HEA.

Thank you to Netgalley for this e-ARC

Claire goes back to the small town where her boyfriend lives only to find him cheating, so she goes to a bar and ends up talking to Aiden, who she sort of not really knew in high school aside from being bio partners one year and sharing one meaningful experience together. After talking to him she decides to go to Florida on the overnight train and since Aiden's boss made him take a vacation, he has nothing else in his life besides work, and she has him a little intrigued, he decided to go with her. They initially part ways once they arrive but find their ways back to one another, both unsure of what they're feeling.

This was an okay story and I enjoyed their banter, but there was something about the writing style that made me not love it. Probably not enough that it would stop me from reading another book of hers if I came across it but I won't be seeking them out and don't feel the need for a sequel or more time in this story. There was nothing specific bad about it and I think lots of people will enjoy it, it just wasn't for me. Lovely cover by Sam as per usual.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. You can find the book when it released Dec 6/22.
