Frozen Detective by Amanda Flower is the second book in the Piper and Porter Mystery series. This storyline is twisty and suspenseful. Darby Piper and Tate Porter are hired by Cecily Madd to find out who is sending threatening letters to Cecily's husband Dr. Garrett Madd, the rich, very successful owner of MaddlyCare. All the action takes place at the exclusive ski resort Cecily inherited from her father. It's a command appearance New Year's weekend party. What happens during the weekend makes for a suspenseful read. I really enjoyed this story.

Another cozy mystery from Amanda Flower, this is the second book in this series, but the first for me, and I was not lost.
Our pair of detectives are invited to a Finger Lakes Resort, not far actually from where I live, but fictional! It sounds like a place of opulence, I wanted to have dinner! Wow! The detectives are invited by a former classmate of Porters, who tells them that her wealthy doctor husband has been getting threatening letters, and wants their help!
All the while I'm reading this, I could picture it as a movie! There is a lot more to this than meets the eye, but we are there as it unfolds, and I thought I knew the answers! Was I right, well, partly, but loved the help they got from the canine!
This quickly became a page turner, I needed answers, and you will too, keep reading, they do come!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Hallmark, and was not required to give a positive review.

I love cozies where the main character goes on vacation and I also love closed-room mysteries where all the suspects are together in one place. Frozen Detective is a fun combination of both. Darby and Tate take on a client who asks them to spend New Years weekend at a nearby lodge she owns to investigate some threatening letters her husband has received. The job quickly turns from a few frightening letters to a cold-blooded murder.

I really enjoy this series in general and I loved the lodge setting of this book. There were lots of suspects and in some ways it wasn't even clear exactly what crimes were being or had been committed. Things are also warming up between Darby and Tate, who are becoming closer and starting to trust each other. The characters we see in this book are completely different from the characters we saw in the first book which made things new but I did miss some of the characters that were featured before.

If you're a fan of Flower's books this is definitely a series to check out!

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC.

When a classmate of Darby and Tate hires the detectives to find out who is sending threatening notes to her husband Darby is leery of taking the case. Tate insists on taking the case which sends the detectives to a plush ski resort. It isn't long before their fears are confirmed and the husband is killed. Darby and Tate now have to find out who the murderer is before all of their suspects leave the mountain.

Frozen Detective is the second book in the Piper and Porter Mystery series. I enjoyed the mystery as it took several twists and turns that kept me engaged in the story. As always in an Amanda Flower cozy mystery there is an animal character that finds its way into the readers heart. Darby and Tate are still new partners so their relationship is still tentative, but they are learning to trust each other. I think that Tate has some secrets that will hopefully get a chance to be revealed in future books. I enjoyed the setting of the story as well. I look forward to the next book in the series.

**Thank you to Hallmark publisher through Netgalley for my copy of the book to review. All opinions are my own**

This is the second in a series but I think it could be read as a stand-alone even though you’d be missing out on some backstory. The main characters are easy to like and the mystery is entertaining. I listened to the audio version and the narrator was wonderful with her different voices for the different characters.

I absolutely this author! She’s one of my favorites and I try to read everything she writes. While she writes cozy mysteries, they seem to go a bit deeper than the traditional for the genre.

Darby Piper runs a private investigation firm called Piper and Porter Detective Agency with her business partner Tate Porter, in the town of Herrington New York.

One day, Cecily Madd, a college friend of Tate walks into their firm and hires Darby to look into some threatening notes her husband has been receiving over the last several months. According to Cecily, she thinks her husband’s life might be in danger.

Cecily and her husband are hosting a New Year’s Eve party at Garden Peak Lodge for friends and clients. To this end, they’ve reserved the lodge and the ski slope for the entire weekend for their private event.

Her husband is Dr. Garret Madd, a famous dermatologist in New York City. He even has his skincare line called MaddlyCare, which is worth fifty million dollars. He is using the weekend to have prospective partners pitch ideas to him.

Cecily thinks someone from the guest list wrote the note and she wants Darby to find the person writing the notes before it escalates.

To this end, Cecily asks Darby and Tate to come to the event posing as a couple. The guests are scheduled to arrive at the lodge on New Year’s Eve.
The lodge originally belonged to Cecily’s father but he passed leaving the lodge to her. She hopes that the lodge can become a resource for MaddlyCare and its partners.

But during the event, Garrett makes a shocking announcement, catching his wife off guard.

Soon after the party, Darby learns more about Dr. Madd from the guests either by direct conversation or by eavesdropping on them.

From what Darby gathers, Dr. Madd isn’t very well-liked by the people coming to his party.

While working out in the gym, Darby looks through the window and sees a human form sprawled out on the side of the mountain. It appears the person may have fallen and is having difficulty getting back up.

When she goes to inquire who it is, she discovers Dr. Garret Madd lying dead, with an arrow sticking out of his back.

She quickly calls the police and the Herrington Police Department arrives.

A well-crafted mystery in a beautiful setting. I enjoyed how Darby and Tate solved the murder.

Included is a Goat Cheese Phyllo Puffs recipe which Darby couldn’t get enough of at the party.

Thank you to Amanda Fowler, NetGalley, and Hallmark Publishing for the arc of this book.

Undercover Operators..
The second outing in the Piper and Porter mystery series and secrets abound at a luxurious ski resort. A well off doctor has invited a group of guests to spend a week at his extravagant villa and Darby Piper, private eye, and partner Tate are amongst the throng. The difference is that the sleuthing duo are undercover to investigate threats on the doctors life. Unfortunately they soon find themselves conducting a murder investigation instead. With a closed group of suspects, the killer is among them. With a nicely crafted cast, red herrings aplenty and a pacy narrative this is an enjoyable, fun addition to the series thus far.

This was such a fun cozy mystery to read. The plot was both enjoyable, and unique. It had a few small twists and turns, and while I figured out the killer, it still kept me turning the pages. The rapport between the characters was awesome, actually had me laugh out loud a few times. Truly enjoyed and highly recommend.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of FROZEN DETECTIVE (Book 2 of the Piper and Porter Mysteries) by Amanda Flower in exchange for an honest review. Despite her misgivings, Darby Piper allows Tate Porter and the promise of a big payday to convince her to take a case brought to them by an old classmate. CeCe Tragger, now Cecily Madd, moved to New York where she became a successful fashion model and married a rich and successful dermatologist with a skin care line worth millions. Cecily asks Darby and Tate to attend a New Year's party Cecily and her husband are hosting at a local lodge in an effort to find out who has been sending threatening notes to her husband. When Dr. Madd becomes a literal target rather than a figurative one, Darby and Tate add solving Dr. Madd's murder to their agenda.

I love Amanda Flower's writing and enjoy her series. I would have to say that I enjoyed this book as much as the first. Cozy mystery, murder, detectives.

Murder on the Ski Slopes is the second book in this, new to me series. Private Detective Darby Piper and her new partner Tate Porter. agree to go undercover as a couple at a luxurious ski villa to investigate who is sending threatening letters to their clients wealthy husband. It soon turns into a murder investigation after the husband is found dead on the slopes with an arrow in his back, This was a fun quick read. There were numerous suspects. lots of red herrings, and a loveable St. Bernard dog named Tiny. Thank you to Hallmark Publishing and netgalley for providing me with an advance readers copy.

The blurb promised a Knives-Out inspired cosy mystery and I must admit that I did spot quite a few nods to the successful movie. It’s a fun easy read set in an isolated chalet in the mountains. The number of suspects is long enough to keep you guessing until the end. It’s the second book in the series, but having not read the first one, I can say that the plot easily stands on its own. You get a few contextual references to the previous story, so you aren’t completely in the dark about the characters’ background. I enjoyed this investigation and am looking forward to the next installment!

This is a new to me author and I enjoyed reading this cozy mystery. I haven't read the first one in this series and I don't know if I missed some key points to really understand the detectives' personalities, especially Tate. I really never got a good feel for who he is. Perhaps because the story is told from Darby's POV and she doesn't really get Tate either. Still, I enjoyed the mystery. I never really knew for sure who the murderer was until the reveal. I had several ideas but couldn't pin down a final suspect. I would enjoy reading the next book in the series and trying to get to know Darby and Tate better while trying to guess the next mystery. And I loved Tiny.

This is the second book in the Piper and Porter Mystery series.
Darby and Tate are partners in the Piper and Porter Detective Agency.
They get hired by Cecily Madd to find out who has been threatening her husband. A murder at a beautiful upscale ski lodge, snow and a big dog named "tiny".
A fun, entertaining mystery that kept me guessing until the end.

Thank you NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for the opportunity to read this book.

A wealthy doctor invites many of his associates to spend a week at a giant, luxurious ski villa. Darby Piper, a seasoned private eye, and Tate Porter, her new partner at the detective agency, are among the guests, going undercover as a romantic couple. They were hired by the doctor’s much-younger wife to investigate anonymous threats against her husband’s life. But before long, Darby and Tate are investigating a murder instead.
I love this series Darby is such a fun character. Darby and Tate make a great team together and maybe some sparks between the two. This one was a fun one I enjoyed all the suspects being stuck together.

Amanda Flower brings us a story of PI Darby Piper and her new partner Tate Porter. They are invited for a weekend at a luxury ski villa. They are posing as a couple as they infiltrate the event and mingle with all of the guests as they try to figure out who is sending threatening letters to the doctor who is holding the event with his wife. Soon after, Darby finds the body of the doctor out in the snow with an arrow in his back. Instead of just finding out who was sending the letters, now they are helping the police investigate the murder of the doctor. With the snow storm preventing the guests from leaving at the moment, Darby and Tate have until the roads are cleared to solve this mystery. Will they find their man in time, or will the murderer get away and leave with the rest of the guests?

Amanda Flowers brings us a story where we have the experienced PI who has to work with a partner who has the good looks but has never been in this line of work. Through working together, they have to learn to trust each other and see if they can indeed work together or if they are too different to make it work and go their separate ways. As you follow along, you are helping to solve the mystery and find the clues along the way. You keep turning the page to see what they find out next and how it helps their case until you reach the end and realize that there are no pages left to turn. I enjoyed this adventure with Darby and Tate and look forward to more stories from this author.

I have read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for this privilege.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review "Frozen Detective" by Amanda Flower. This is the second book in a new series by the author of such cozies as the Amish Candy Shop Mysteries and Magical Bookshop Mysteries. Although I did not read the first, introductory, book in the series, this one works well as a standalone.
I have to say, though, that I was not really all that impressed with this one.
Piper Darby and her partner are hired by a wealthy beauty maven to find out who is responsible for threats to her husband. The company is holding a New Year's Eve weekend celebration in a ski resort hotel that is owned by the wife. And of course, murder ensues and the PIs are left to piece together motives, means and opportunities.
While I am a fan of the Amish Candy Shop Mysteries, I was not a fan of this one.
