This Delicious Death was a quick, fun read. It takes place after a mysterious pandemic hits that leaves a small part of the population craving human flesh. They called it "The Hollowing" and those who were affected are known as hollows. Thankfully science came through with synthetic flesh called Synflesh that helps Hollows keep their appetites under control and able to lead (sort of) normal lives.
This story follows Zoey, Celeste, Valeria, and Jasmine, four young hollow women from Southern California. Before graduation, they decide to attend a music festival in the desert together. They brought plenty of Synflesh, so what could go wrong? Plenty as it turns out.
The horror parts were gory enough to actually be considered horror and the friendships between the girls were heartwarming - quite literally the definition of ride or die. If you were a hollow, you’d want this group on your side.

This is a really interesting premise, and I can see how it would appeal to a lot of readers. I think I'm just not in the target audience for this book. The characters feel too young and the writing and book itself felt too unserious to appeal to me, but I do believe that's more my taste than the book's fault.

I really enjoyed the premise of this book, I wish we could have spent more time building up the backstory instead of jumping in mid-crisis mode. Maybe a prequel would be really fun and could delve into how the world changed a little more

this was a really funny, unique comedic thriller to read. I struggle to think of anything except maybe Santa Clarita Diet on Netflix to compare this to. I think YA readers will find this a refreshing addition tot heir shelves.

Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks for this ARC.
I’m not sure how I feel or what to think about this book. I didn’t love it. I didn’t hate it.

𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉 𝒃𝒚 𝑲𝒂𝒚𝒍𝒂 𝑪𝒐𝒕𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒉𝒂𝒎 is a fun yet dark 𝒀𝑨 𝑯𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒐𝒓. It takes place after something happens and part of the population turns into vampire-like creatures. Outwardly, they are human, but if they don't eat certain things and make sure to not get hungry, they change and start attacking and eating people.
There is some kind of program set-up through the government to keep track of these individuals, and they have to check in from time to time. But this group of young girls is headed to a big musical concert in the desert.... what could go wrong?
Well, a lot, actually! Once they get there, things seem fine, and they are enjoying themselves. But soon, things get 𝒎𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒚, literally. Something is happening to trigger their 𝒉𝒖𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓. 😱
I really enjoyed this story. It was quite fun and the perfect story for anyone looking to get into horror to dip their toes in or for the YA audience. I liked the setting, the characters, and the mystery behind what was triggering the girls to transform. It was such a fun and interesting concept for a book.

A zombie book is a fun idea and I love the thought of a book about them co-existing with non-zombies. I think this would work as a movie. I'd love to see it on the screen.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to review this book.

This book was the perfect segue from summer into spooky season! It has all the best parts of summer: hanging out with your besties and going to THE music festival of the year. And the main characters are not quite zombies and not quite vampires, but an amazing supernatural species called ghouls, who were created a few years ago when The Hollowing happened. But something happens at the music festival that is putting humans and ghouls in danger. It's up to Zoey and her friends to stop it!
I loved this book so much! I love all the characters and the representation! I could not put this one down because it's so fun and suspenseful!

Unfortunately this want a boo
For me. I gave it about 20-% and want able to continue. Now take my not really review with a grain of salt as the sort may work for you.

I received a copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
I felt like this book had a lot of potential, but in the end, it just didn’t do it for me. It was kind of a cross between a pandemic and a zombie apocalypse, but written in the most uninteresting way. The characters were unlikable, stereotypical, and because of that, they were sometimes hard to keep straight when reading. I found myself spacing out a lot because I wasn’t interested in the book, and then having to go back and reread the same section several times, because I wasn’t paying attention. This is a book that I should have DNFd, but I am stubborn and have a hard time doing that.
I did like that the author tried to have different representations present in her book, but some thing about it felt off to me… like she was trying to compare how the ghouls were being treated to how LGBTQIA+ people are treated, It felt so weird to me. I love the idea of inclusion and representing everyone in books, but the romance aspect in this one felt really forced. It felt like the romance subplot was thrown in as an afterthought because the horror aspect of this book wasn’t strong enough to stand on its own. Additionally, the reasons behind why some of the characters acted the way that they did, and were just really weak, and the weak ending didn’t do anything to help the already weak story.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, but it turned out to be good. The author gives a warning at the beginning about graphic content like gore, murder, and flesh tearing and much more. It's a likable story, with a bit of YA content that moves quickly and has enough scary and gory moments to satisfy horror fans.

The premise of this book was interesting. Unfortunately the execution was not interesting in the least. I hated the characters. I felt like there was zero world building. I really didn't care what happened to the characters. It's too bad because I really liked this author's last book.

A post-zombie pandemic YA book about besties who now need to consume human-flesh to avoid turning feral? YES PLEASE. I don't wanna do it, but I have to do it, so I'm gonna do it: I DEVOURED this book. This book cured my summer-long reading slump.
This Delicious Death is like The Santa Clarita Diet meets Yellowjackets meets Buffy and. I love all of those things, so I was clearing going to love this. Zoey, Celeste, Valeria, and Jasmine are the ghoul besties, who stay sasieated by consuming a government-made synthetic flesh. They take a much-needed trip to a music festival in the desert, which quickly goes wrong after one of them goes feral and eats a human. When they discover other festival-goers are disappearing, they have to investigate and find out what's going on.
This book is a fun horror that won't be for everyone (the flesh consuming being one of the reasons why), but if that's not a complete turn off for you, you will enjoy the mystery, the friendships, the ROMANCE **insert heart eyes emojis**. Not only is this a fun, sci-fi horror, but there are some really good parallels to this post-pandemic dystopia to the real world. It touches on friendship, acceptance, prejudice, among other things in a subtle but impactful way.

the writing of the book wasn’t my favourite part and the story was okay, I wouldn’t say anything special but not bad either so I think it is a decent read :)

This book wasn't necessarily my cup of tea, but I can definitely see that some of my YA readers in the library will love this book. It has a super eye catching cover, and the horror readers will immediately gravitate towards this one.

Sapphic horror?! Sign me up! I also loved that this was kind of a different twist on zombies/ghouls, but kept you intrigued. I liked that we started off at a music festival and things went crazy. It was a super fun ride and I really enjoyed it!

This was fantastic! It's amusing, tragic, romantic, chompy, suspenseful, and exhilarating all at the same time. It's a cannibal love tale for the ages, and I'm all in! This is a one-of-a-kind and really brilliant book, and I'm so pleased I got to experience it!

Overall good book. I really liked the plot and the fact that there was a large representation of the LGBTQ community. I liked the characters but felt there could be more development with them and their relationships with each other - although I loved the back stories on how everyone became sick. Only other thing lacking was a better explanation for why the antagonist wanted to make everyone uncontrollably hollow/sick.

This was honestly so fun. I thought the whole book was just a really great take on this genre. The characters relationships were great and I love a good girl gang.

This book was fun and well written, but the zombie content it’s t for me. For a zombie lover this book is a win!
