A sweet little thriller which is an easy read with a simplistic writing style.
I felt for the main character, which is always a plus and felt this was a good use of my weekend.

Burn Marks by John Sturgeon.
A brutal murder and the kidnapping of a two-year old boy disrupt the return of Milton PD Detective Steve Marks from his Florida vacation. A homeless man has been savagely murdered behind the Trips Aces Casino and Henry Burnett, the son of the owner of the Burnett Furniture empire, has been kidnapped. Clues in both cases are scarce. As more homeless men become victims of the murderer dubbed The Shadow, and there is nothing pointing to little Henry's return, the pressure on Marks and his young partner, Anders Hedberg, mounts. Milton's mayor wants fast action in both cases while the Burnett family screams for better law enforcement to be brought in. Marks and Anders fight the clock and the heat from above while trying to maintain their own sanity.
Really good read. Suspense and action. 4*.

This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Mystery and intrigue…characters who are likable and others not…treachery and murder…this is a talented author at writing fiction that reads like nonfiction. Although the story moves slowly at times, it comes to a resounding conclusion.

Good book! This book had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, serial killers, and a few who done it! Some great police work too! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle! I was a little confused towards the end, ill try to describe without giving to much away lol but one of the police tells a guy he'll give him a day to turn himself in! The guy was definitely guilty I guess I just don't think a real police officer would just let the guy go?! I mean what if he takes off?! I don't know but that just really bugged me I guess?! Other than that it was a great read! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
