Love through the Seasons by Tracie Peterson contains four contemporary, Christian stories. Each story takes place during one of the four seasons. We get to enjoy spring, summer, fall and winter along with the activities and holidays that take place during those seasons. We are not given the year in the novellas. I know that they are not the present day because of certain references. Each story has a theme or moral. I like the Christian themes in each novella. There are good life lessons. I found the stories to be easy to read. Each story can be read in a sitting. Each novella begins with a problem, and we see the characters work to overcome them with help from God. My favorite story was Falling in Love which takes place in autumn. Karen Armstrong lives with her mother on the family farm. They soon invite the mother’s sisters to live with them. Modifications need to be done to the home. Karen hires Dan Polk and his sons to do the needed renovations. Karen and Dan have both lost their spouses. Karen’s mother and aunts decide to do a little matchmaking. It is a cute story. I would have liked a whole book involving these characters. My least favorite story is Silent Nights (the winter tale). Lynn Murphy and her husband, Frank have been married for ten years. Frank is gone on business trips more than he is at home. When Frank cancels their tenth anniversary trip to Mexico, Lynn decides she has had enough. She heads to her grandfather’s home to think things through. There is a lot of bickering which got on my nerves. Frank and Lynn both have valid issues. The problem is that neither one has bothered to share their concerns with their spouse. This tale was lacking. I thought there was too much repetition. My favorite character in this story is Gramps. Love through the Seasons comprises four sweet, feel-good romances that transports readers to Kansas.

Tracie Peterson usually writes historical fiction that I absolutely adore. These contemporary novellas were just ok in my opinion. I know 2 or 3 of them were older ones and I kind of wish she had updated them a little. The 3rd novella (fall) I enjoyed. My least favorite was the summer one. This won't stop me from reading Tracie's books in the future but I'm not as likely to read her novellas unless I know they are ones she's currently written.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own.

We are gifted four beautifully crafted, page turning sweet romances, that each take place in our four seasons.

Each start on a down note, getting to the conclusion of these fast paced reads, is delightful, and sometimes not quite like you expect, making it so enjoyable!

You will quickly be through each story, and can pace it out for four sittings, I found myself quickly going to the next!

Looking for my next Tracie Peterson read!

4 Contemporary Novellas. I have differing opinions on each of them:

Spring. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My favorite. Sweet, simple love story of a widow and widower. A cute Cub Scout to boot and an element of forgiveness.
Summer: ⭐️⭐️ I felt like the grand gestures in this story were a bit creepy and manipulative.
Fall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Solid romance story.
Winter: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A marriage revival story. It was pretty good, I felt like this one could have been fleshed out a bit more. The problems in the marriage were resolved a bit to quickly for my taste.

Thank you to Net Galley for the eARC. A review was not required and all opinions are my own.

This book was a refreshing little read in between some heavier non-fiction. It was a very quick read, but very enjoyable. Each of the four stories were just long enough to read quickly, but not too fast. The love stories were all a little unconventional and I appreciated that. The author tells the stories we don’t always hear and they were all wholesome.

We are treated to a contemporary fiction book with four novella length stories in it. This author usually writes historical fiction, but she has presented us with contemporary fiction which I was just as happy to read. The stories take place in Kansas, the author's home state and each one involves a storm which the state is known for, along with hurricane preparedness.
Each of the stories takes place in one of the seasons so we get a nice mix of seasonal summer, spring, fall and winter and the activities the revolve around them.
The stories though not dated for a time period, to my way of thinking seem to take place in the eighties when people were kinder, more understanding and not quite the hurry, hurry attitude we have today no matter the cost to anyone else.
Feel good book that left me smiling! Recommended!

This is a very enjoyable set of 4 novellas by the wonderful Tracie Peterson. I am already a fan so I was prepared to have a great time readin these. I enjoyed all 4 of the stories but must admit King of Hearts was my least favorite. The novellas are very fast reads. The characters are all likable except for Elise in King of Hearts. She needed to take a chill pill and calm down, she was a very angry person through the first part of the story. I would recommend these to a friend because they are interesting plot-wise and the characters are believable.

I enjoyed reading this book with four different stories. They made for a quick lunch and break time read. It was easy to read one story at a time as the stories were short with unique storylines. Although they were short stories they had great detail, good dialog and interesting characters which made them fun to read. My favorite of the four was the first story. I liked how the author incorporated the weather with believable actions by the characters. There was nothing over the top or that didn't help the storyline. The little boy in this particular story was written so that you wanted to get to know him in real life! I have always been a fan of the author, Tracie Peterson, so I was excited to read this one and she did not disappoint!

This book contains four novella's, each story portrays a season of the year.

Spring… Stormy Weather set in Kansas, with threats of tornadoes. Gina Bowden is a widow raising her young son. Her son is a Cub Scout and is tasked with has to build tv a car for The pinewood derby. She has no idea nor to turn a chunk of wood into a racing car so she calls the scout leader for help. A nice story of finding love again ensues.

Summer… A student finds her King of Hearts while participating in a Renaissance festival, but she may lack queenly confidence.

Autumn… we encounter a widow living with her mother and aunts on the family farm, it’s all about Falling for Love.

Winter… A wife faces Silent Nights during winter as her marriage begins to crumble at Christmastime.

A little syrupy for this reader.

Yes - read it, especially if you are a fan of Tracie Peterson.

I love shorter stories around a main theme - they're like catnip to me. This time, I didn't care for one of the stories. For whatever reason it rubbed me the wrong way. Enough to drop a star. Yet, I can't qualify what I didn't like about it.

Don't let that dissuade you. These are still full of all the wonderful things that the author has been putting in her stories for 30 years.

If you like Tracie Peterson don't miss the chance to have 4 nights of complete reads that are you bound to enjoy!

I received an ARC from Netgalley to help prepare for my honest review.

Love Through the Seasons is four short stories of love, one for each season. Each story is unique with their only common factor being some connection to Council Bluff Kansas.
I really enjoyed these and found that one story could be read in a single sitting. The
characters are all unique in their reasons for being single or having marriage difficulties
making these stories interesting and able to sustain the readers interest. All of the
characters are Christians so they do their best to put God in charge but we all know how often we, as humans, can mess that up. Each story has a happy ending and
recommend it for everyone who enjoys Christian based novels. Very nicely written with believable characters in each story. I give this book a 5 of 5 stars.
I received an advance copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest

I do love all things Tracie Peterson!! Each novella was charming and sweet. Definitely worth reading. I do wish they were a bit longer. The characters develop quickly and they can be a bit unrealistic.

This is four novellas in one book, if you enjoy quick easy reads you will like these. You can tell some of these stories are more dated than others as cell phones are not in use, but it is fun to remember those times and how things change. As in most novellas things happen fast. Each story has its own set of circumstances. The stories are all stand alone. A couple stories we follow widow/widower, one is more an older college student type age, and the last with a married couple of 10 years. I loved how each story has different age groups with different circumstances. It also shows how even christians can struggle with their faith and how they handle circumstances. I was given a copy of this book for my honest opinion.

Love Though the Seasons by Tracie Peterson – Mixed Impressions

I looked forward to reading this release of four short stories, Love Through the Seasons by Tracie Peterson, which will be published February 1, 2023. Once I started reading the book, it was obvious that some of the stories must have been written a few years ago. Things that are common today, like cell phones, weren’t mentioned in the stories and there were no time references. Stormy Weather was written in 1999, King of Hearts in 1997, Falling for Love is a new release for 2023, and Silent Nights was written in 1998.

I enjoyed a couple of the stories, Stormy Weather and Falling for Love, but wasn’t too keen on King of Hearts and Silent Nights.

Stormy Weather takes place in the spring and is about a widow, Gina Bowden, and her young son, Danny. Danny’s Cub Scout leader, Gary Cameron, is a widower. This is a sweet story and the characters are very likable. Gina tries to make up for being a single mom, but finds that she needs help when her son has been assigned a project for Cub Scouts. Gary is willing to help and they develop a comfortable and caring relationship. I appreciated the faith and trust that both Gina and Gary had in the wake of losing their spouses.

I found King of Hearts to be an odd story. Elise Jost received bad news that she was just shy of having the credits she needed to graduate from college. As a result, she would need to take one class during summer school. The one class that fit her schedule was Renaissance Appreciation taught by Dr. Ian Hunter. Elise is less than pleased about taking the class, partly because of a required assignment at the end of the semester. Elise’s attitude was crummy and there was very little in her behavior that displayed Christian faith. This story may not have aged well. Back in the day, Renaissance fairs were very common and folks had an interest in them. Today, this story come across as kind of weird and at times almost creepy. One character was introduced that seemed to be there for no other reason than to put a damsel in distress that needed to be rescued. Overall, I found the story very odd.

Falling For Love is the newest story and was very likeable. Nice characters who were kind and caring. Karen Jacobs, a widow, owns the old family farm and lives there with her mother Meredith. Karen is contacted by her cousin Marlene who hopes that her mother, Lettie, might be able to come and live with Karen. Over the coming days, Karen’s two other aunts, Helen and Rachel, contact her to see if they too might be able to come live with them. Thankfully the house set up where the downstairs area would work well as a home for all four sisters. Work needs to be done to make things ready for the aging family members. Karen contacts someone from church, Dan Polk, who can help with the project. This was one of my favorite stories. The sacrificial love and kindness Karen demonstrates by inviting her family to come live with them is refreshing. The developing relationship between Dan and Karen was sweet. The characters demonstrated their Christian faith. I very much liked this story.

Silent Nights was the story I liked least. Lynn Murphy and her attitude and actions did not display Christian faith, nor did her husband Frank. They have issues in their marriage which need to be worked out. While acknowledging that God does not like divorce, Lynn leaves home because her husband heading out of town again on business trip and their anniversary trip will need to be rescheduled. Lynn goes to stay with her grandfather Omar Lewiston, but doesn’t even leave a note for her husband to let him know where she is at. I liked the grandfather, he was kind, caring and displayed some wisdom. The characters’ change and development was not really handled well. I did not like the characters, nor their attitudes and the Christian faith was not evident in their lives. Then suddenly, things changed and the story ends, but how and why they changed wasn’t well developed. Perhaps this story would have been somewhat better as a full-length novel where the characters could have been better developed.

A couple of the stories, Stormy Weather and Falling for Love, were enjoyable and had likable characters and the characters displayed more mature Christian faith. King of Hearts and Silent Nights fell short.

Would I recommend Love Through the Seasons by Tracie Peterson? If you like Tracie’s writing you may want to read these stories. It was nice to read shorter story format and some of the stories were enjoyable. But the short story format may not work well for some of the storylines.

I would like to thank Barbour Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read a complimentary copy of Love Through the Seasons by Tracie Peterson. I was under no obligation to give a favorable review.

"Love Through the Seasons: 4 Contemporary Romances Celebrating 30 Years of Writing" is a compilation of novellas by esteemed author Tracie Peterson. Having read Peterson's books before, I was looking forward to this! However, while Peterson's novels are well-thought-out and have complex, enjoyable storylines, these stories did not. I know that the format of a novella restricts complex storylines, but I felt these stories were a little weak. I didn't enjoy how quickly couples would be formed, have one date, and then automatically start talking about marriage. I also didn't like the teacher/student relationship, albeit they were the same age, so that helped a bit. It's just a sticky situation that needs careful consideration.

I think I'll stick with Peterson's full-length novels, which I have really enjoyed. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC of this collection of novellas.
Bestselling author Tracie Peterson celebrates 30 years of writing with a collection of both old and new stories.
This collection of four novellas by Tracie Peterson is a departure from her normal historical romances, but all four stories were a breath of fresh air in the way the characters tackled the ups and downs of navigating their way to love. I've read a number of Tracie's historical novels and have found them entertaining and intriguing.
I had not read any of the novellas in any other form so I enjoyed this book.
