Great to read a book that has a new storyline with no similarities. Enjoyable read and highly recommend.

A gripping read and one that I read in a single evening. I couldn't put it down. A dark plot at times with the asylum setting and the modern day plot but very compelling.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
The story of the clinic attendees is interesting from the start, a group of women wanting to make the best of themselves by losing weight and improving their health. The story of Jenny, a previous inmate of the asylum is revealed through current events and small sections taken from her inpatient records. As the plot unfolded a mixture of fascination and horror kept me reading, unable to put the book down. Although I spotted a couple of continuity issues the book was completely credible, the combination of obsessive and controlling behaviours kept me engaged right to the unpredictable ending. This is definitely a good read, not to be missed.

Super fun book with cult-ish vibes. All are attracted to the beauty clinic to be the best versions of themselves but what is the beauty clinic, really?

Very fun ride!

A twisty turny story. My kind of thriller as I loved the tension building.

The dialogue between characters was sometimes staggered but still engaging. It wasn't a slow burn but not particularly fast paced either.

I think this author's future work will be promising as she has a balanced, compelling writing style.

Sorry this has been so long now that I forgot to review this ! But I loved the themes of this book and the clinic setting and the characterisation was great. It really highlights the pressure of weight loss in todays society but with a dark undertone.

I really tried with this book but just couldn't get into it. It dragged in places and failed to bring me into the world of the characters. However, I believe the premise has potential and, perhaps if read in the right mood, could be a hit for some.

I'm glad to see so many other readers have enjoyed it and encourage other to give it a try. 2 Stars.

I loved the sinister feel of this story that really helped to ramp up the suspense throughout the whole book. A good easy and addictive read. I thank Netgalley and Joffre Books for the opportunity to read and review this book.

The blurb of this book had me hooked straight away. Doctor Cavendish owns a specialised clinic that only accepts very few carefully chosen women who want to change the way they look. They all want to loose weight, get better skin, etc. A story many women will relate to, but not so many women would go to any lengths to achieve.

The clinic is based in an old asylum building, which already gives the book a creepy thrilling start before you even read anymore.

The 6 women arrive and meet each other and the doctor. The characters are well fleshed out in their description, so I got a good feel for each of them.

I would say this book has trigger warnings for those who have eating disorders/ body dismorphia. It also is written in a way where you can tell the author understands the stress and emotional side of women who strive to change their bodies and the reasons they feel so unsatisfied with the way they look. As a society, we are always having body image thrown in our faces. Buy this weight loss product, use this mega expensive skin product etc all to make us feel like we have to improve the way we look, rather than what should be, to improve our health both physical and mental. I commend the author particularly for her honesty at the end of the book regarding her own feelings and experience.

This is a brilliant book, with great characters, a thrilling plot and a fantastic ending.

It gave me feelings of similarity to "Nine Perfect Strangers", but personally I would say I preferred The Clinic. Highly recommended 👌

This book was crazy in a good way. The Clinic seems like the ideal place to get away and rebuild your life but their are tough very strict rules... and missing people. The creepiness had me from the beginning and kept me interested and kept me interested until the ending.

Definitely recommended.

Thanks to Netgalley, Sally-Anne Martyn, and Jaffe Books for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

***** I have received and read an e - ARC from NetGalley in exchange for giving my honest feedback. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.*****

An interesting premise, and I can’t put my finger on it, but something about thr execution of the story felt off.

I spent more time wondering about what felt wrong than I did about the story itself. I never could figure it out though.

This story just highlights some of the darker things that are done in the obsession with beauty. Women willing to do anything to be gorgeous. This is a dark read filled with deception and horror. I thought it was well written and the plot is dastardly for sure.

I did enjoy this book but found the plot a little formulaic and I could see a lot of the twists coming. Definitely worth a read though.

This is an excellent mystery/psychological thriller with a wonderfully nasty baddy at the heart of it.

A group of women check into a health/wellbeing clinic seeking physical and personal transformation. They have different types of issues with food, with their appearance, and different reasons for being there. The author does a good job at getting the reader to engage with each of the characters, and with the group dynamics. (They do all seem to be rather unbelievably trusting and willing to put up with a lot of abuse during their treatment at the clinic, but I can let that slide... perhaps people who go to such places are like that!)

The clinic is rather sinister, of course. It has a baaaaad history. This lies at the heart of the story and the odd goings-on that are gradually revealed.

OK, so what's really going on doesn't come as much of a surprise, so it's not a you-won't-believe-the-twist-at-the-end story. But that's a good thing. The enjoyment in this book is the gradual deterioration and mounting sense of impending danger, which creates a nice level of tension and keeps you gripped to the end.

One of the main characters is Jenny, and she's really great. Damaged, messed up but really doing her best to do better. She's endearing and brave and you can't help but really like her and root for her.

This book is getting rave reviews - they are well deserved. As psychological thrillers go, this is one of the better ones. It's well structured, well written, great characterisation, good dialogue and a storyline that pulls you in... I'll be looking out for more from this author.

I’ve always enjoyed this author and this book is no exception. You feel like you’re part of the story and no matter how many characters there may be in a book you feel like you’re a part of that world and invested in these characters as well. This would be a perfect beach read or book club book to choose. Loved the characters, location, and story.

The Clinic was a hit for me. I loved the asylum setting and the array of characters. It was very thought provoking and hard to put down. I ended up reading this in just one night.

This was an interesting novel. I was pulled in my the premise and I feel like it could have been done a little bit better. But it is a good story,

It did take me a while to finish the book, which is perhaps an indication that it was not as gripping as some other books I have read. There were some interesting themes in terms of the lengths people will go to strive for perfection. There were some twists at the end but not ones that made up for the rest of pacing.

A gripping read from page one. Its also a very easy and enjoyable read. Yes theres the whole mystery element but that was only part of it. The authors writing is very pleasant and I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for more from her.
