I'm basically happy to read any book set in an old mad house, the lingering vibes are always sinister even when nothing is happening.
There's most definitely something happening here.
Feeding (ha) from the diet culture where women will do anything go be skinny, this does take it to the extreme... I'd cry if someone gave me a few raisins for dinner. It really did get me thinking though, what would people do for results?

It spirals into absolute chaos... I guessed a few of the threads, but non the less enjoyed the wild ride to the end.
I hope this book was meant to be fun, because I had a great time reading it.

This is story is amazing. It is told from three women’s prospected as the story unravels and secrets come out of hiding I found myself loving and hating the characters. Strange things are happening at the Clinic as the weeks go one more and more oddities happen the women start to wonder if this really a Clinic. At 60% the story took on a whole new edge to it, I was hooked and needed to know how this amazing story ended and I wasn’t disappointed. I was left wanting more from this author.
Thank you to Netgalley/Sally-Anne Martyn for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Would you go to a beauty clinic that promises to transform your life? If you’re prepared to put the work in.

It seems like the opportunity of a lifetime. An all-inclusive stay at a top-of-the-line wellness retreat for a month of pampering and luxury. Not just anyone gets in. Guests are hand selected.

They promise big results: a total transformation.

All you have to do is take a few pills every day. Join in the activities. Make some new friends.

But then you start to lose track of time. The meals get smaller. Everything is taken away from you.

Seems like a dream … but is it?

A decent read that keeps your attention hooked, I would recommend

Thank you for the ARC!
I didn't love this book entirely but it was okay. I loved the setting. I loved the villain. I loved the idea of exploring why so many want to be skinny. That was fantastic!
I just felt like there was a lot going on, that can be good for some. It was gritty. That can be good too.
This was okay. I think some of my friends will love it.

A weight loss clinic in the middle of nowhere at what was previously an insane asylum. What can go wrong? This took a little getting into but when I did, it didn't let me down. Told from the views of a patient at the clinic, the doctor and an ex-patient from the asylum, this kept me on my toes. I loved the secluded feel of the whole book. The mystery of what was really going on at the clinic was just downright creepy and a little sadistic. The scariest part is the reality in what people would be willing to go through in order to attain their goals of becoming perfect not only in their minds but through society's lense. I definitely recommend this one even if just for the moral of it. Four Stars.

Thank you to Netgalley and Joffe Books for this ARC.

Whoa, this was quite a creepy, enjoyable read, hard to put down.
I've never been to a 'beauty' clinic and after this book I don't think I ever will! Who doesn't want to be the best they can be, but this particular clinic is going much further. They starve you and feed you lots of pills, but will you be able to leave if you choose to?
I loved the two main women, especially plucky Penny, but the doctor, wow, she was a psycho task master. The building was another character, gothic and ghostly, with pain and suffering soaked into the walls.
A really good read, perfect for a cozy Halloween read. Definitely recommended!

My review:
This was an interesting book, to say the least. I'd never read anything by this author.
I will say that it took me a LONG time to actually get into it. The plot is not quite like anything I'd seen before. The first chapters are a bit hard to sink your teeth into. Maybe a bit less description (though the author writes descriptively very well) and a bit more character development in the beginning? However, the middle of the book until the end (not sure how I didn't see that last twist coming!) made up for it. I became invested in both Amy and Jenny and was dying to know how their stories intersected.
I'm going to rate this 3 stars, though I'd say it's more like 3.5. I would definitely read another book from this author.
