A good overview of the (particularly US) copyright system for people working in creative professions. As creatives we are often tempted to overlook this side of the business, and this book reminds us of the importance of the legal side of things. People needing really concrete advice for their particular situation will need some additional help and advice, but this book is a good starting point.

Copyright for Creatives is, by its nature, the kind of book you'd dip into for reference rather than read straight through. It's breadth is impressive as it covers many different types of creativity. Particularly useful are the case studies involving thorny and unexpected cases of infringement.
However, I have a couple of caveats. One, it seems to predominantly cover US issues (although I could be wrong as I haven't read it cover to cover) and it doesn't seem to deal with screenplays in ways I found useful. Yes, there were a few useful tips but a simple search for 'scripts' revealed not much and screenplays, even less. So, I'd have it on the shelf to help other artists but not much good for me.
