What a romance!

The Nanny was such a fun and enjoyable read — and also one of the steamiest books I've ever read! I loved Lana Ferguson's writing and am excited to see what she releases next. I loved the theme of this book, it kind of gave me Uptown Girls vibes, which is totally great. The romance was steamy and full of swoony moments. It's the perfect light and fluffy read and a really solid debut. I immediately recommended this book to a friend after finishing it, which in my eyes, means it's a great read!

Overall, I really enjoyed this! This book did what A Merry Little Meet Cute thought it was doing.

It was cute, it was SPICY, it was funny, and it was heartwarming. You had a real emphasis on the single dad trying to figure it all out and a fun nanny who comes and fills the holes in their family. Exactly what you expect— and need— from a single dad romance.

I liked both Cassie and Aiden individually and better together. The chemistry was there and the resolution of the secret was well done. The lady 30% dragged a bit, but very much worth the read.

Lana’s writing style was extremely captivating and I can’t wait to read more from her.

I enjoyed this book, it was a quick read. I participated as part of a buddy group chat. My favorite parts were the relationship between Cassie and Sophie, as well as the secondary characters. The “steam” level was so in your face and it actually became redundant. The relationship seemed to progress too quickly. I rated it 3 1/2 stars on Goodreads, rounded up to 4 stars

This one was super spicyyyy. Great story, great execution, and tons of romance. An authors recipe for book success!

Considering the entire premise and promo seemed to be mainly about the fact that the heroine used to be an OnlyFans girl and the hero, her new boss, was one of her subscribers the book didn't actually have much to do with that? It felt odd to me and it was a little disappointing that there wasn't more tension and focus on that storyline. It's what drew me into this book and then didn't deliver. So I'll chalk that up to a me issue and I got my expectations too high for one particular thing.

Overall, this was still a cute contemporary novel. There were a lot of fun moments between the characters, especially our girls Sophie and Wanda. They really stole the show at times and I easily fell in love with them.

Thank you Berkley Publishing for the gifted e-copy.

This was a steamy read that had a lot of potential (single dad, workplace, female MC with a former Only Fans account that the dad/boss subscribed to!!), but overall, I found it a bit boring and predictable. The side characters of Sophie and Wanda were the best part! The steam was entertaining but got to be repetitive, and I really didn't care for either of the main characters.

A fun vacay read, but nothing stellar.

Last year I dipped my toes in the RomCom pond. I had steered clear for years anticipating super corny, over the top, unrealistic, smush fests.

I am also one of those people who can admit when they are wrong. It's not often, and I definitely don't enjoy it but I was wrong. I can officially say that I DO in fact really enjoy RomComs.

Currently, my favorite, is The Nanny.

I fell in love with Cassie and all her quirks. I instantly bonded with her and I felt everything she felt, I was rooting for her from page one.

Enter Aiden Reid. Umm helloooooo even I wanted to take my clothes off! (shhhh don't tell my husband) If its for a fictional character, its ok right?

This is definitely a "meet cute" trope and I gobbled each bit of it up.

I don't care what judgment flies my way, I will be shouting from the roof tops how much I do love RomComs.

The Nanny is out April 11, and this needs to be on everyones list.

5 stars, duh

Teaser :

A woman discovers the father of the child she is nannying may be her biggest (Only)Fan in this steamy contemporary romance by Lana Ferguson.

Suddenly unemployed and on the brink of eviction, Cassie Evans is left with two choices: get a new job (and fast) or fire up her long-untouched OnlyFans account. But the job market is terrible, and as for OnlyFans. . . . Well, there are reasons she can’t go back. Just when all hope seems lost, an ad for a live-in nanny position seems like the solution to all her problems. It’s almost too perfect—until she meets her would-be employer.

Aiden Reid, executive chef and DILF extraordinaire, is far from the stuffy single dad Cassie was imagining. He shocks her when he tells her she’s the most qualified applicant he’s met in weeks, practically begging her to take the job. With hands that make her hindbrain howl and eyes that scream sex, the idea of living under the same roof as Aiden feels dangerous, but with no other option, she decides to stay with him and his adorably tenacious daughter, Sophie.

Cassie soon discovers that Aiden is not a stranger at all, but instead someone who is very familiar with her—or at least, her body. Given that he doesn’t remember her, Cassie is faced with what feels like an impossible situation. As their relationship heats to temperatures hotter than any kitchen Aiden has ever worked in, Cassie struggles with telling Aiden the truth, and the more terrifying possibility—losing the best chance at happiness she’s ever had.

The Nanny by Lana Ferguson

"Cherophobia is the fear of happiness."

The cover is cute as compared to the hotness of this book.

Cassie needs a job to avoid eviction but she has no luck and doesn't want to activate her (Only)Fan account. When she was about to lose all hope, she sees an ad for the job of nanny. She was stupid at times but I liked her character.

Aiden is a chef, not just a chef a hot chef with a 9 year old daughter. What more is she knows him but he doesn't remember her (never met each other but yes they have met online - read to find out how 🔥). Their chemistry was top notch.

"My mom always said that you can fix anything with love."

The messages at start of every chapter were sweet, hot and you will definitely need cold shower 😉 or a drink with you to read this. It is immensely hot. The premise and setting was unique and interesting and had me turning pages.

This is a contemporary steamy romance that was predictable but executed well. This was a story showing losing someone only to find them again. The pace was smooth and Wanda was a weird lovable character.

Encanto is my favourite too with Sophie being my most favourite from the entire book.

The insecurities shared by the author, the effect of past on present was so sad and heartbreaking. I still love how strong Cassie turned out to be. This ended nicely and was fun.

If you like single dad, age gap, steamy scenes with cuteness in your book, go ahead and pick this. I recommend this!

When I think of The Nanny I think of the old 90s TV show with Fran Drescher. Now make Fran a former Only Fans cam girl, Mr. Sheffield a hot chef who used to be that cam girls #1 fan. We've got the C.C. (anti M.C. love connection) in Iris and I'm going to go ahead and make a connection between Niles from the show and my absolute favorite character from the book, Wanda.

If you've never seen The Nanny TV show you aren't missing too much and quite frankly my comparison means nothing to the book, I just felt I needed to share the connection as I felt it needed to be made :)

What does matter for this book is that you be ready for a lot of heat as Aiden and Cassie are seemingly two magnets that cannot stay separated unless Aiden's daughter is in the room. I appreciated that the author attempted to make it into more of a storyline with some depth, but at the same time lets call it what it is a super hot, steamy read.

I really appreciated all the sex positivity in this novel and how Cassie was not ashamed of her past. However, I also felt that this was a case where that aspect of the novel overrode its actual plot. Like the conflict(s) were easily resolved which was okay cause that is how it is in real life. My problem was we never saw a development of Cassie and Aiden's relationship. Even in the OF flashbacks it was all centered around sex and attraction. There were snippets when they had a connection but nothing full formed of fleshed out. Once they hooked up in the book, it was like almost every single chapter had one scene. Sexual chemistry and compatibility does not a relationship make and I wish there had been more of a development in that regard.. I still enjoyed the author's writing and will read from her. This just didn't thrill me as much as I expected it to.

Sexy, sexy, and fun. Read this for the steamy scenes. I was intrigued by the mix with Only fans and her becoming a nanny to her top fan. The daughter was cute and the moments between the 3 were cute. Overall, the story was okay. It didn’t wow me.Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read in exchange for a review.

Cassie loses her job, and to support herself, she applies for a job as a nanny. She doesn’t think it will be hard, but she didn’t expect her new boss to be so hot. The chemistry between them is off the charts.

The problem is that she found out he was a client from when she was doing OnlyFans. They were originally supposed to meet in person, but he ghosted her. Now she understands why the chemistry is so strong between them. She is unwilling to lose her job over something that happened in the past.

Aiden can’t deny his attraction to his new nanny. He doesn’t need the additional distraction. He is busy enough as a Chef. He is also trying to juggle spending time with his daughter, which most days seems to be a difficult feat. Can he keep his hands to himself and play his position as “boss”?

While I enjoyed the overall story and fun times, the story did fall flat in places. I think the main character’s romantic connection was off. The chemistry, once they got it on, was hot. I mean, she runs an OnlyFans account, and he was already her client. I expected that, but outside of that, I wanted to believe that these two could have a real relationship, but it is a little unbelievable.

Throwing in OnlyFans as a way to connect the characters initially is a big step. I liked it but didn’t love it. Maybe because I don’t really understand the whole concept, but I can appreciate the originality of it as we enter newer ways for people to meet and connect in real life.

Overall, I would recommend this for fans of contemporary romance. I look forward to reading books by Ms. Ferguson.

This is basically exactly what you want in a romance novel. Sweet story, a twist on tropes, and lots of steam. The main character Cassie is working her way through OT school when she meets Aiden and his daughter Sophie. Sophie is precocious and fun and it was super sweet to see their relationship develop. Since the death of Sophie’s mother, Aiden has been a full-time parent, which is why he hires Cassie. Cassie is highly motivated to do both school and her job well, which means NOT falling for the boss. Whoops! Another highlight of the book is Cassie’s 72 year-old best friend Wanda, who plays a pivotal role in Cassie’s life from advice to wise cracking. Overall, this is a great read for summer!

This was WAYYY spicier than I was expecting from a single dad/nanny trope romance..in the best way! All the tension is so worth it! It also tackles some tough issues, such as grief, abandonment, and prioritizing yourself. Cassie and Aiden, the MCs, were fun once they got comfortable with each other, which led to great banter. Sophie was a hoot, slow to warm up, but then just a great kid character. I love how she makes fun of her dad’s pancakes. Highly recommend this novel!

This is easily one of my favorite reads of 2023!

Cassie and Aiden had my heart from the beginning. I loved the glimpses of their anonymous past and the way they connected before they even knew each other’s hearts. I loved how immediately Cassie adored Sophie, and how emotional it made Aiden to watch that. I loved the we-shouldn’t-but-GOD-I-WANT-TO tension between Cassie and Aiden, and the absolutely 🥵 moments between them (of which there are multiple, thank you for feeding us Lana). I loved the genuine care between the cast of characters in Cassie and Aiden’s lives. Everyone was so well drawn and reading this book felt not just like watching a love story unfold, but also like witnessing a family be born. It’s imbued with so many types of love, and I just loved experiencing the breadth of it.

What impressed me most with Lana’s debut was how certain storylines (that I won’t spoil!) were handled. The emotional layers that were built over difficult moments that could’ve gone down a different, more straightforwardly “they’re good/she’s bad” path were instead handled with so much empathy and healthy communication. You can’t help but root for everyone in this story, even when they aren’t at their best.

ANYWAY I LOVE THIS BOOK! And if you like the following things, you’ll love it too 💕:

✨HOT single dad with a filthy mouth
✨Oh, and he can cook (just not pancakes)
✨TENSION TENSION TENSION
✨Oh my god, they were roommates
✨Sex positive
✨Found family
✨”Good girl”

3.5 stars

Well, this was highly recommended everywhere and I'm wondering if it was the hype that killed it.

I really liked Cassie and Aiden. They're both good, loyal people. There's loads of banter and awkwardness and I was absolutely here for it. I loved Sophie and Wanda is the absolute best part of the book.

Plot wise it was okay. The first half was really strong. Once they got together, it was sort of bland and boring. I've seen so many reviews say this is the spicy thing ever, so I was expecting a lot more than was here. The communication wasn't the best (but the not the worst) and the epilogue was sweet; however at times it felt like I could have put it down unfinished.

Overall, I liked it, but didn't obsessively love it like I was expecting.

**Huge thanks to the publisher for providing the arc free of charge**

Thank you Berkley Publishing Group for my copy of The Nanny! All thoughts are my own.

As a former nanny, this book made me a little nervous with the premise but then I heard such great reviews, I decided I needed to read it. And I’m glad I did! Romance is a genre that allows us to suspend our disbelief and have a little fun. And this book is FUN! For a traditional published book, I will say this book definitely skews on the spicier side and it’s very open door, but the characters’ connection is so authentic and fun.

I don’t read a lot of books in the single dad trope but one thing I love about them is always how fun the addition of a sassy kid can be to a Rom Com. This book is face paced and fun with a perfect sprinkle of honesty and authenticity that would make any critic push aside the parts that seem a little far fetched. I really enjoyed it!

What I Liked:

The Pacing—A perfect breezy book with the right amount of depth. You can easily read this in one sitting!

The Banter—Cassie and Aiden just got each other and the dialogue felt akin to a movie or show, which I personally really ,really love.

The Characters—Aiden is so dreamy and I really liked Cassie too! But the side characters flesh out this book so well. Wanda, Aunt Iris, and Sophie help bring this world to life.

What Didn’t Work For Me:

Needed a little more “Oomf” for the Ending—The 3rd act break up is totally believable but things wrapped up pretty quickly…I think I would have liked just one more chapter of them “figuring it out.”

Character Authenticity: 5/5 Spice Rating: 3.5/5 Overall Rating: 4.5/5

Content Warnings:

Loss of a parent, estranged parental relationship, heart attack, hospital

First of all, I’d read another book by this author with a different trope. I like a sweet nanny/boss story and not one that is sexy from the get go. This is your job! Put on a bra!! Feels inappropriate from a working stand point.

Cassie needs a job desperately, so when she sees the offer to be a live-in nanny she jumps at the opportunity. After a few weeks of taking care of Sophie, Cassie starts to realize she knows Aiden, the extremely attractive single father, who happens to be her new boss. He was her number one customer when she had an Only Fans account. She begins to wonder how long before he recognizes her, and how long she can keep her attraction to him a secret.

Woo this book was STEAMY in the best possible way. But prepare yourself (and maybe don’t be me and listen to the audiobook in public). Outside of the off the charts chemistry, I adored Cassie’s sweet relationship with Sophie as well as her friendship with Wanda, a sassy elderly lady. Both relationships were so special and sweet and made up for the hot mess communication that was Cassie and Aiden’s relationship. Overall, this was such a fun read and I can’t wait to see what is next from Lana Ferguson.

Thanks to Berkley Publishing for the advance copy and to @berittalksbooks and @dg_reads for the buddy read!

The Nanny follows Cassie an occupational therapy student who starts working as a nanny for Aiden and his 9 year old daughter Sophie.
Cassie soon discover she and Aiden already have history but when will she tell Aiden?

This is a very steamy book. Cassie and Aiden are great main characters. I also really love Sophie and Wanda. Iris is a character I did not like at the beginning but as Cassie got to know her better, I enjoyed her character more. It has a good place as i read through it rather quickly.
It also had some heavy subjects. These were not on the foreground but still a good addition to the book
