JG Faherty has penned another great horror thriller. Detailed, believable characters, a complex, yet still easy-to-follow plot, and above all, plenty of gruesome action. The Egyptian back story was well-researched yet still used only as needed and the story never bogs down. This is the mummy horror movie someone needs to make.

First things first: shout out to the author for bringing mummies back! I was trying to remember the last time I read a mummy as monster and it’s been soooo many years. It’s overdue.

Fitting with the chosen monster, the book is old school fright and fun. And while we have an OG monster, I was happy to see that the author put some interesting touches in that lifted this beyond the expected.

The fun is fast paced, gruesome, and highly entertaining.

I did have a wee bit of problem with our four main characters. They have an ‘interesting’ relationship issue that just irritated me. (Note: this may be a ‘me’ problem.) Once they got that taken care of, I found I liked them and was rooting for them.

This is definitely a fun read and I’d love to see some more OG monster books in the future!

Truly terrifying, this was one of the creepiest books I read this year. IF you're looking for a body horror read, pick this up.

this was a unique take on ancient mummies, I enjoyed the way JG Faherty wrote this. It does everything a good horror novel should do and does mummies really well. I enjoyed what JG Faherty writes and it left me wanting more in this universe and more horror novels from the author.

"The priest had insisted only nine spells could be read. That had proven to be a lie, since Henry had already sent the ushabti after that detective, and it hadn’t affected his ability to call it forth afterward. And now Ahmes feared someone else might be using it as well."
