Peterson has written another novel located in the Alaskan Yucon. Christian fiction Historical lovers who enjoy stories with a strong message of hope, healing and redemption are sure to love this one. This is the story of Addie Bryant a woman of tremendous strength that overcame many obstacles that were in her path. As a young girl she was treated and abused by her father and her brothers. Eventually her father sold her to a saloon man who used her and abused her as his mistress. Then he sold her to another man who was cruel, but yet he married her. When Addie finds herself a widow she plans to run away from everything and everyone. She fears her brothers will find her. So Addie finds herself on the run to Seattle where she finds new friends and a place to stay. But her past soon catches up with her. It was so interesting to read of how all work together for Addie because she kept her faith in God and how He provided for her through faithful friends. This is such an interesting book…..I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts are my own and I was not required to post a positive review.

1902. What an amazing ride of a story. Tracie is so good at drawing the pictures in her stories, and for using great lessons of faith to highlight the paths. This is another book where you feel totally invested in these people. I found myself praising God in the victories! When teenagers, Addie and Isaac met in the Yukon and promised themselves to each other. He left intending to come back, but it took years. In the meantime, the cruelty of her father and brothers changed her life. Fascinating story of strength even through abuse; what an amazing and uplifting girl. The story builds fast. It got so it was almost impossible to put down, right straight through to the end. Classic Tracie Peterson - never disappoints!

I received this book free from the author, publisher and NetGalley book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

This is book one in Pictures of the Heart series. I love the writing style of Tracie Peterson. If you enjoy historical romance books you will like this one. Addie Bryant has had a hard life and is just trying to start anew. She has the beginnings of such a great new start, with budding friendships and a new job. When her past come in to her present she must learn to forgive, and trust her heart. Isaac Hanson can not believe his luck. He has been looking for Addie for so long. Once he finds her will it be all he has hoped it would be? I look forward to reading more about the characters we met in this book as the series continues. I was given a copy of this book for my honest opinion.

Author Tracie Peterson has woven a sweet, emotional narrative about discovering the beauty God has planned for main character, Addie Bryant, amidst the broken, scattered ashes of her tragic life.

I enjoyed Addie’s character and admired her strength, her perseverance and her determination. She embarks on a journey of faith, finding forgiveness for what she believes are her sins, though much of what she’s suffered has been at the abusive hand of her father and brothers. Despite her pain and suffering, she begins to see how God has provided a way of freedom for her as He cares for her and loves her, creating a beautiful story of hope and healing.

Peterson highlights several unique historical aspects in this story, including the Alaskan gold rush and stories of the Yukon. Some of the story centers around the birth of photography and some of the first personal cameras sold to families visiting the 1909 Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition in Seattle, WA. I loved this aspect and felt transported there in time by Peterson’s detailed descriptions, lost in the “world of wonder” of that exciting era of invention and intrigue.

There is a hint of a delicate romance to this story and plenty of heart-angst as Addie and her long-lost love, Isaac, reunite. The narrative focuses on Addie’s healing and deepening faith, but has a sweet happily ever after. A handful of secondary characters and events add a touch of suspense to the story while others give it heart.

Overall, this was a heartwarming, simple read full of inspirational moments, rich faith elements and a fun historical aspect set at an innovative, exciting time in American history. Historical, Christian fiction lovers who enjoy stories with a strong message of hope, healing and redemption are sure to love this new release!

From 1898-1902, Adeline (Addie) Bryant lived in the Yukon with her father and two brothers. They were abusive. When her father dies, her brothers sell her. Eventually, Addie is able to escape to Seattle where she sets up a nice modest life for herself.

Set at the the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition in Seattle, Washington 1909, this story is a second chance romance amongst a past of sin and shame. Addie is reluctant to believe in a God who would allow such horrible things to happen to her. Peterson does a beautiful job navigating through the whys of abuse at the hands of others without including graphic details.

A misunderstanding of self worth, like that of Addie, is something that can hold us back and stifle our purpose. If we let it rule us, the sins and/or circumstances of our past can also take away our future. Here is a quote from the book:

“I can see now how often we go through things that we’d rather not—things not of our doing or choosing. But God has a plan in how those situations will change our hearts and grow us in Him.”

The spiritual arc of this story is evident as questions of trust, hurt and shame are confronted with the love and forgiveness of Jesus. This story brings about hope and redemption. A gift that just needs to be accepted.

This book is suitable for teens and older with no inappropriate intimate scenes and no bad language. I received this book from the author/publisher free of charge, with no expectation of a positive review.

Remember Me starts a new series that takes place in Seattle during the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Expo. I loved learning a little about that time (and about the Brownie camera!) while enjoying a slow romance between Addie and Isaac who knew each other as teenagers in the Yukon. Addie has a lot to overcome and has a lot of trust issues so the romance takes quite a while. Isaac is sweet and willing to be patient for the love of his life.

I'm a big fan of Tracie Peterson's books and while Remember Me didn't quite grab me like some of her previous ones I still really enjoyed it and will soon be reading her follow up, Finding Us, to learn about the next camera girl's story.

Remember Me is good clean Christian Historical Fiction and I know if you enjoy that genre, this will be a treat!

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own.

Tracie Peterson is an absolute master at writing historical fiction... creating stories full of historical details that put you right there. Remember Me is no exception, taking readers back to the early 1900s during the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Expo... which is not a subject I knew a whole lot about. It had a great blend of history and adventure, with some romance mixed in too. It also had a great message of faith that was woven beautifully throughout the story as well.

This one was a bit of a tough one for me to get into personally, but I feel like this likely had more to do with ME than the book itself. It touches on some more serious topics, and deals with Addie being sold by her brothers, etc. While it has that great faith message, it's certainly not the lightest read...and lately I'm certainly finding myself craving those lighter reads for more of an escape. That said, this story was wonderfully written and an enjoyable read nonetheless. I do think that were I in a different headspace while reading, I'd have enjoyed it all that much more.

If you enjoy historical fiction, this is certainly one to check out.

An intense and moving story set in the Yukon and Seattle areas.

Addie dressed up as a boy to travel with her brothers and father to gold country. Always afraid of making her brothers and father angry, she tries her best to stay out of their way. But after her father passes away her brothers sell her to a saloon owner where she is forced to be his wife.

Years later Addie finds herself on the run to Seattle where she finds new friends and a place to stay. But her past soon catches up with her in both good and bad ways.

Tracie Peterson never seems to disappoint, I have enjoyed so many of her books, and this one is definitely a new favorite. I loved the characters and the redemption story. I loved how faith filled it was, and how God works through all of our circumstances. I cannot wait to read the next book.

Remember Me is such a touching story! I connected with Addie and rooted for her to overcome the past and thrive.

I believe all things happen for a reason. It isn’t just happenstance or coincidence that Addie and Isaac’s paths cross. God directs their paths. And God’s love isn’t conditional. He loves up how we are, no matter our paths, choices, or circumstances. What wonderful messages.

I love this starting over story. It showcases wonderful (and some not-so-wonderful) characters and a unique setting, and shares stirring spiritual truths. I learned a lot about the history of the gold rush, Brownie camera, the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Expo. And I just love it when a story teaches me something new.

I am reviewing a copy of Remember Me through Bethany House Publishers and Netgalley:

From Yukon to Seattle, the hope of a new beginning waits just around the corner.

Addie Bryant is haunted by a past of heartbreak and betrayal. After the man she loved Issac Hanson left the Yukon, she vowed to weight for him. When she's sold to a brothel owner after the death of her father, Addie manages to escape with the hope that she can forever hide her past and the belief that she will never have the future she's always dreamed of.

Years later, Addie has found a new life and career she loves. She's a photographer training Camera Girls to operate and sell the Brownie camera. During the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Expo in Seattle, Addie is reunited with Isaac, but after the path her life has taken, she's afraid to expose the ugliness of her former life and to move toward the future they had pledged to each other.

When Addie's past catches up with her, Addie must decide whether to run or to stay and face her wounds in order to embrace her life, her future, and her hope in God.

I give Remember Me five out of five stars!

This was my first book to read by this author and the first book in this new series. Needless to say, I'm hooked.

The hardship Addie endures to who she becomes was a beautiful testament to how God works in everyone's life to restore what was destroyed. Seeing Addie's faith grow was very relatable and you couldn't help but to cheer her on to persevere. Getting a glimpse into the Alaska-Yukon area was fun since I've never been there.

I recommend this book for the who love Historical Romance Stories.

I loved this book.

The main characters Addie and Isaac were childhood friends who formed a great bond. But soon they must separate. Addie goes off to pan for gold with her family, and Isaac goes off to college vowing to meet up later in life. Addie will faces many problems that occurred to families in the early 1900's. Issues that will knock many people down and making them feel unworthy. Many years later, Isaac comes back to pick up where they left off. Addie pushes him away. can Addie open her heart to Isaac? Pick up your copy Today and read how her their life started and how it ends up.

They captured the story as if it was present day. Making you think you were right there with them, every step of the way. I placed myself in Addie's shoes. I too struggle with fear and doubt just as she had. I had to read lines over because they were so real to me. Reminding me that God is in control and knows your struggles and the path you must travel. Put your faith in God. As everything happens for a reason. Never give up it will reveal itself in due time.

It was a very uplifting story and one that will stay with me for a long time. I will highly recommend this book to others. As well as the rest of the books in the series.

The cover is beautiful. I was drawn to the book by the cover. Then I saw Christian, Historical Fiction and Romance. I'm not a romance reader, given the cover, the synopsis and 2/3 on the genre I was all-in. This was a clear calendar day, hot mug of coffee, and food delivery read. Bonus, it rained just enough that I could see it. I don't have many days like this.

After reading, I sat staring at the cover on GoodReads. Was the darkness of the cover the clue that I missed? The beatings were so brutal, and not addressed in any fashion. Slapped so hard people heard, gasped and stared, no further acknowledgment. Broken ribs, bloody face, brain swelling and nothing -- absolutely nothing is said.

I finished this by the grace of God. The final beating made me fight vomiting. I kept telling myself, there will be an author's note. One that will address how not to be treated. Clearly state the time period. I was waiting on something to teach young girls growing into ladies, God's grace and mercy, and I got nothing.

The story was romance -- they met in their mid teens; she was abused and his guidance at 15 was God. Pray, he can't stop pain -- it's up to man. The story evolves, she is abused. 10-12 years later they meet again.

I want this whole mess out of my head.

Remember Me
by Tracie Peterson

This was a Christian, historical romance that takes place during the gold rush era in the Yukon. While this is a faith-filled, "clean" story, the author does tackle some stronger issues such as abuse and murder.

Addie and Isaac were in love when they were young. He goes away to school and tells her he will be back and to "remember me." During that time, Addie's father dies, and her cruel brothers sell her to a brothel where she is forced to marry.

Years later, Addie is now widowed and her path crosses with Isaac. He had looked for her and immediately wants to renew their lives together. It is a bittersweet reunion...Addie feels unworthy of his love after the way her life has played out.

While the story was somewhat predictable, the storyline was interesting, and I enjoyed our couple finding their way back to each other.. This appears to be the first book of a series.

I have long been reading this authors books. She has so many out, I call her the "Queen of Historical Fiction." Her research is immaculate and makes each story relatable and realistic.
Her books have a beautiful faith message but it's not overbearing.
Remember Me is the first book in the Pictures of the Heart series.
The setting is 1909 at the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Expo in Seattle.
Addie Bryant has had a very harsh and heartbreaking bringing up. Her brothers and father did not love her, and she had no one. After they betrayed her in the worst way possible, she was able to escape. With memories of a promised love from childhood she holds onto these happy memories as a way to keep going but doesn't expect anything to come of it.
After she is reunited with Isaac, her past love, she doesn't feel worthy of forgiveness or to be with him.
The theme here is your past is in the past and God is a forgiving God to be trusted and Addie does come to do this. A strong story line with themes of forgiveness, redemption and love.
I will continue to read books by this author as she's one of my all-time favorites.

It is 1902 in Dawson City, Alaska, Adeline Bryant has been forced to lived a horrible life with a dad and brothers who only used her to satisfy their own desires for money. When the evil man she is forced to marry by her brothers dies, Addie knows it's her one chance to escape and head for Seattle, Washington. But will her new life be all that she hopes or will calamity find her once again? Also will she ever see the boy who promised to remember her when he left for the states and higher education?

This book is truly a change from the suspense reads of Tracie Peterson I have previously read, and I loved every page of it. The historical detail and information about The Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition (AYPE), held in Seattle from June 1 to October 16, 1909 was fascinating and brought to life. The Camera Girls and the reveal of the new Kodak Brownie Camera added a special touch. The reconnection of Isaac and Addie as well as the reentrance of Addie's evil brothers added both romance and suspense to the story line. Infused with a wonderful faith thread throughout, this totally created an especially enjoyable read.

I've enjoyed a lot of Tracie Peterson's books in the past but I'm afraid Remember Me won't be one of them. The overall storyline was sweet but very simple with little story and character development. I enjoy Christian content in a story but there was so much in this book it felt more like I was reading a sermon than a story. I enjoyed Addie's character and the growth she experienced. I did not like Isaac's character, I found him overbearing and thought his forcefulness on insisting on marriage made him little better than Addie's brothers as it's showed a disrespect towards her and her wishes. The romance had no development and I was disappointed there was no kiss in the end (I'm a big fan of kisses lol). I'm still a fan of Tracie Peterson and will continue to read her books, this one was just not on par with her previous work.
