This is a middle grade book that I found myself getting caught up in the story line. The book is engaging and full of adventure and fun.

This book is written for elementary readers. The plot is well done, although a bit rushed. I liked the characters, especially Sara and her friends. There is action and adventure in this book that will appeal to the elementary crowd. I liked that Sara and her friends are able to thwart the bad guy and come out on top through teamwork and ingenuity. This is a perfect book for both elementary boys and girls.

For those of you unfamiliar with The Emerald Ring, it's an action packed mystery based on Cleopatra's missing jewels. These aren't just any jewels either! If all the jewels are together, the person in possession will have a lot of power... even enough power to bring back the Roman empire. Of course, one very brave girl (and her two friends) have to make sure that does not happen.

The Emerald Ring has a strong heroine going to great lengths to protect herself and the ones she loves. Middle grade readers will surely find something that mesmerizes them in this new series full of plot twists, grand discoveries, and new magic.
