I love Rosanna Ley's stories as they're always heartwarming and poignant. There's a lovely setting, great characters and a lot of emotions: the right book if you want to escape reality and travel to beautiful places.
This one matches all my high expectations and I rooted for the characters and was involved in their story and emotions.
Another winner by this author.
Highly recommended.

what more can we readers want from a summer read?
Beautiful Italian scenery, a touch of mystery, a handsome but flawed male character and of course a romance or two.
This book has it all and will banish the winter blues and prepare us to slip into a wonderful summer.
A great book to escape into.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

A fabulous book by Rosanna Ley which is set in Dorset and Puglia.

Lara lived with her mother in Dorsey, in a house with an Arts and Crafts design made by her Grandparents, it had a beautiful garden with 7 different themes.

Lara’s mother passed away. But before the war, Charles Fripp was a friend to them both, he asks Lara, who is not the same age as he to marry him.

Lara doesn’t want to lose the house, and she also hears that the person she loved is missing, presumed dead in the war, she decides to accept the wedding proposal. But she didn’t have a happy marriage.

Now, in the present, she lives in Puglia, with ger daughter and granddaughter Bea. Her granddaughter also shares her love of gardens and after she finished university, started her own company developing and designing gardens.

Once Lara realises that she’s not got long left, she asks Bea to go to Dorset and sort the garden she’s not seen for 70 years.

I highly recommend this book.

This for me is the epitome of a great summer read.
It transports you immediately to the glorious scenery of Italy and takes you by the hand into the intriguing lives of Leah and Bea. Then before you know it you are then taken to the beautiful countryside of Dorset and the beautiful intricacies of an Arts and Craft garden.
Mix into this love stories and secrets, what more could you ask for

What more could you want from a book? Set in beautiful Italy and then Dorset in a glorious garden with wonderful descriptions of all the plants and flowers. The description was so vivid I could almost picture the garden and the scenes. A truly wonderful read even though sad at times. I love Rosanna Let’s books and this one is no exception. A must read.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in return for an honest review. It was an absolute pleasure.

I’m a big fan of Rosanna Ley’s books and this was no exception; in fact, it’s one of my favourites. The characters are instantly believable, the descriptions sumptuous and the whole story is perfectly tensioned between three viewpoint characters and two timelines.
The story is told from the points of view of Lara (in the 1940s and present day), her daughter Rose, and her granddaughter Bea, and it revolves around two very special gardens. The first is in Dorset, created by Lara’s mother based on the principles of the Arts and Crafts movement. It is this garden that Lara promises her mother to protect, which is the starting point for the drama that follows. The second garden is one that Lara later creates in Puglia.
The relationships between the women – and their gardens – are beautifully drawn. That Lara left the Dorset garden behind is evident from the outset, but in the hands of such a skilled storyteller, my desire to find out the whys and wherefores made it hard to put the book down. The Forever Garden will not only transport you from Dorset to Italy and back, it’s a journey you cannot fail to enjoy.

What an intriguing book. We start the story in Italy learning about the wonderful gardens there and end up in rural Dorset in a most fantastic garden that you wish you could go and visit so see all the outdoor rooms. A lovely story that links two timelines together. It was nice to see how three generations have their own stories and secrets, and slowly they intertwine and link together and become one.

Wow, wow, wow! What an amazingly powerful book, I will never forget this story.
I totally connected with the idea of a garden being a peaceful sanctuary and the description of the flowers and plants were beautiful and fascinating. The character's lives were so intense with each story tinged with sadness, this felt like a real 'grown up' serious book and although not a true story, it felt like a priviledge to read it.
Beautifully sad.

This is such a fabulous book! Set in Puglia, Italy, and Dorset, England, this wonderfully vivid and descriptive story immediately transported me into this compelling tale that would not let me go! It is the story of Lara, her daughter Rose, and her granddaughter Beatrice, and as the story unfurls, their lives entwine, and secrets from the past are revealed that impact on all of them. From the beautiful green garden in Dorset and the lovely house there that holds many memories -.not all of them good - to the olive groves in Italy basking in the sun, this is a very powerful story, full of love, passion and also fear. I was completely captivated, loved the characters, and was really impressed by the way that the story flowed so beautifully. This is a wonderfully written, perfectly plotted book that I thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommended.

Another great red from Rosanna Ley.

Set in Dorset and Puglia.

Lara lived in a Dorset village at her her mother in an Arts and Crafts design house by her Grandparents with an amazing garden 7 different themes, after WWII , Lara's mother dies, and a neighbour Charles Fripp who had befriended them before the war asks Lara who is a lot younger than him to marry him. Facing the prospect of losing the house and finding out that her sweetheart was missing presumed dead she agreed . The marriage was not happy, and in todays world falls in to the gaslighting category,

The book is also set in 2018 where Lara now lives in Puglia, with her daughter, her husband and granddaughter Bea. Bea has the same garden skills and desires as her grandmother and after university sets up her own company designing gardens.

Lara , realises she is dying and asks Bea to travel to Dorset to sort out her garden which she had not seen for nearly 70 years.

This book is about a family, their loves, their secrets but also their determination to work no love together.

Set between West Dorset and Puglia in Italy, and between the time periods of 1940s and the present day, and this novel tells the story of a special Arts and Crafts style garden and the family that created it. The granddaughter is a gifted garden designer and is set the task of restoring the garden whilst at the same time both she and her mother have personal challenges to face. An absorbing read.
