A huge thanks to Canelo for my complimentary copy and all opinions expressed are entirely my own,

Oh my word! This book tore me apart , opened the flood gates and had me hugging everyone around me. The Notekeeper is not only amazing but devastating and do not go in expecting a light fluffy read. The book follows Zoe, is a hospice worker, who records the last words of her patients via notes and hands them over to their loved ones once they've passed. Absolutely incredible. Read it ! Go buy two copies one for yourself and one to share

This is such a beautiful, moving and emotional story. Dealing with end of life, but never maudlin or depressing, this lovely book made me smile, made me cry, and made me feel!! Zoe is a nurse in a hospice, helping people to take their final steps in this life, and helping their families to cope. Zoe’s own story is one of great sadness, and she knows first hand how difficult coming to terms with the inevitable can be. She helps the dying to write notes containing their final thoughts, to give closure to their loved ones. She knows the comfort that can be found in these notes for those left behind., Ben comes to work at the hospice, and he and Zoe do not see eye to eye. He does not see the benefits of the notes, and demands that they stop. Over time, he and Zoe get to know each other better, and things change for them. Life isn’t always kind, and Death finds us when we least expect it at times. This lovely book is full of hope, wisdom, understanding, and so much love. There is much food for thought, the characters are so likeable, and the story itself is beautifully crafted..I loved it, and wholeheartedly recommend it.

I felt so many emotions while reading this book. The protagonist, Zoe, experiences so many ups and downs, challenges, and life lessons. The story was very thoughtfully laid out and has very powerful messages. Although it is sad to read or talk about death, this book has given me a new perspective. Instead of being depressing or morbid, it was eye opening and full of love. Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for providing the e-ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC of The Notekeeper by Hannah Treave.

What a heartwarming story about love, understanding, acceptance, and death.
Zoe is a nurse at a hospice in the UK, she moved from Australia 2 years ago after losing her son, she packed up and left everything including her husband. She has not looked back. She puts all she has into her work. She lives with a friend, Sarah and her little girl.
As the hospice goes through a change in ownership, Zoe finds herself at odds with the new manager Ben, he certainly gives her a hard time about the letters that she is known for writing for the terminal patients at the hospice. As they sort through their differences, a friendship blooms.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, it was an easy read, characters were well introduced and described, good plot and storyline. Certainly had some teary moments towards the end as I read. The author has a way with words and the wording in the notes was perfect. This is the first book I have read by this author, hopefully not the last

After personal tragedy hits Zoe flees Australia to become a hospice worker in Bath, England. Her special talent is taking down the last words of the dying to give to their loved ones. When the hospice gets new owners this aspect of her job is put at risk. Romance and tragedy follow until Zoe reaches the place where she is meant to be. I thoroughly enjoyed the story but found the characters harder to relate to. Sometimes they seemed saccharine sweet and while the words could be harsher they didn't seem to fit the character. The premise was excellent and the story carried you through, just a bit more character development needed.

My, oh my, this book made me CRY!
It was such a beautiful book.
Zoe flees Australia after the loss of her son and moves to the UK where she works as a hospice nurse. Zoe takes the last words of her patients, writes them down and forwards them on after their death.
Years after arriving in the UK, Zoe lives to work and hasn't moved past her tragedies but slowly finds friendship/love and begins to blossom and find happiness.
The idea of note-writing is so personal/thoughtful and Zoe makes people's last moments so special. As well as comforting their loved ones after they have passed.
This book really made you stop and appreciate your blessings, your health and your relationships.
A wonderful read!

I received an ARC from Canelo via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book was equally beautiful but heart-breaking!
It is in no way a light read, but it has many strong messages about love, life, health and relationships.

The protagonist, Zoe, is a hospice worker, who records the last words of her patients via notes and hands them over to their loved ones once they've passed. It was a truly emotional, heartfelt and beautiful read and it has quite easily become one of my favourites.

The author is a gifted writer, who knows how to set a scene and make the readers fall in love with her characters. I felt as though I knew them and what they were going through. It felt like real life.

100% would recommend!

I am suffering from whiplash from all the changes in personality in our characters. The author takes great care and many pages to paint a character one way and then … with the flick of a wrist (or the turn of a page) that character has become someone else entirely – a totally different person. And none of the action seemed either plausible or that of mature, responsible adults.

This story was, obviously, intended for the younger generation – not for those of us who’ve weathered the storms of life.

I appreciate this ARC from NetGalley and the publisher, Canelo, in exchange for an honest review. Best wishes to the author in her new career.

THE NOTEKEEPER is a perfect bookclub read!

Both heartbreaking and heartwarming, this novel centers around Zoe's journey. As she discovers how to live again and embrace a new love, we are right there with her, celebrating the good moments and crying during the bad ones.

Tragedy and loss are unfortunately part of life, and this uplifting novel is certain to touch many readers.

If you're worried it will be too depressing, take heart! The message is ultimately life-affirming & uplifting.

The Notekeeper, this is a story which starts with grief and finishes with acceptance and starting anew in life. The story might make you cry and remember some sad times, keep tissues handy.

This is a story of tragedy, loss, sadness and escape. Zoe's story is one of heartbreak yet it flows into a more uplifting story of starting again, living again and even finding love again.

I enjoyed reading this book as it provided everything you find in real life, you can relate to it on many levels and it has all the emotion you would expect without being depressing. I love the relationships she has with her patients and how she keeps a notebook of their last words.

Tis is a book that will make you laugh, cry, smile, scowl. It has everything you want and need from a good book and it is one I will certainly tell my friends and family to read.

The Notekeeper by Hannah Treave is about Zoe, who, after a tragedy, flees Australia and makes a life for herself in the United Kingdom. Working as a care nurse and knowing just how much comfort last words can bring, Zoe has taken it upon herself to become a notekeeper–writing down the final thoughts of her patients and delivering them to their loved ones.

You can tell the author is passionate about this story. Reading the Notekeeper by Hannah Treave did not feel like reading a book but a true glimpse into those characters' lives who felt so real. The letters were poignant, heartfelt, and heart-wrenching at times.

I thought there was going to be a surprise about Ben, but glad I was wrong (I am not going to say what I thought because it will reveal a spoiler).

A great quote from the book is, the pain of loss never goes away, you just get better at living with it." Another reminder is that a person needs to deal with their past to be able to move on.

Society definitely needs more helping professionals like Zoe, who cares deeply for her patients and wants their end to be peaceful and with dignity.

This book is about second chances, relationships, and the end of life.

A very good book. I would recommend this book and this author. I gave this a 4.5 (rounded up to 5 stars).

Thanks to NetGalley and Canelo publishers for the ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
It's not often a book moves me to tears. It happened with this book but in a good way, if that makes sense. Given the subject matter, this could have been maudlin and depressing, yet it was so uplifting and life affirming. What an interesting idea about a hospice nurse who writes down last thoughts and wishes from her patients, then delivers them to their loved ones after they've passed. A beautiful story that I will remember long after finishing it.

OMG.
This was absolutely wonderful.
This is in no way cute and fluffy. I can tell you it is one of the most uplifting and life-affiorming books I have ever read.
The subject matter is extremely painful to read about, as following a nurse, Zoe, who works in a hospice caring for people in the end stages of their life.
How can a book that is ultimately about death be so uplifting?
The most wonderful part of this book stems from the title. Zoe takes down the last words of her patients, as they make peace with their life decisions. Zoe's reasons for doing this become clear fairly early, and I won't spoil it. But that reason had a profound effect on me. After reading it one night before I went to sleep, I woke up consumed by the pain I felt.
The characters are truly quite special. Zoe has her own past to confront and goes on a journey of her own through the book.
There's a lot of great humour through the book to balance the sadness.
I laughed, I cried (so much) and I couldn't stop reading it. I thought about it all the time, and I still find myself thinking about it now, days after finishing.
Poignant and memorable, this is one not to be missed.

This is such a fantastic read, I didn't really know much about this book before I went in and so I don't want to say too much as I want others to have that experience too. I crtied so much whilst reading this book but also felt weirdly uplifted too.

Reading the synopsis of The Notekeeper did not prepare me for what this book this actually was. I found it to be so well written and such a good story and love the important representation that hospice care was given. I won't go into too much detail don't want to give away the story but be prepared for an emotional ride there will be tears but it'll be worth it. I want to thank NetGalley and Canelo for the digital arc of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
