Another great book in the Kendra Michaels series (10). Always with suspense and a bit of romance, this author keeps you on your toes.

This is a twisting thriller that starts out with a serial killer showing where the bodies are buried. When the location blows up killing the killer and the agents on the scene, Kendra knows she has a problem.
This story starts slow but picks up speed in the last third of the book. Iris Johansen’s books always make me think. There’s always a few twists along the way….

After getting a plea deal in a high-profile murder trial, serial killer James Michael Barrett leads enforcement officers to the alleged location of his last victim. At the burial site, the officers begin to dig and are met with a strange metallic sound. Little did they know they were set up and added to the serial killers ever growing list of victims.

The book is a quick read that will keep you up through the night wanting to know what happens. It is full of twists and turns I didn’t see coming. The story is engaging and the characters interesting. This is book ten in the Kendra Michaels series and it was my first book in the series. I have read previous works by Iris (The Eve Duncan series) and love her writing. I will definitely be going back to read more in regards to Kendra!

I want to thank NetGalley, Iris Johansen & Roy Johansen along with Grand Central Publushing for the e-ARC of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are honest, my own and left voluntarily.

This author duo is absolutely fantastic to read. I really enjoy Iris's books and wasn't sure if I'd like Roy's added takes. But together, it really works! Kendra is possibly one of my favorite characters in their books and I was sooo excited to read another with her in it.

More Than Meets the Eye is the new book from the duo of Roy and Iris Johansen, following Kendra Michaels. When a convicted killer agrees to give the whereabouts of one of his victims, the FBI goes with him to dig it up and try to bring closure to a family. However, when a bomb goes off at the site, killing him and several FBI agents, all bets are off. Join Kendra, Lynch, and friends as they race to discover who is behind the mass killing. The book was intriguing. There was some discussion about alphas and how they find people weaker than them and convince them to do things they wouldn't normally do. I found this interesting and a bit disturbing, honestly. However, it did make great reading! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.

I received this from NetGalley and as an audio from the publisher.
Another serial killer for Kendra Michaels to catch. I like the characters in this book and the narrator for the audio did a great job. I enjoyed listening to it,

A serial killer strikes a plea deal with law enforcement and agrees to take them to the location of his last victim’s body only to set up a team of law enforcement personnel to be blown up at the site. This book is Iris Johansen and Roy Johansen together at their best! I loved the plot and it is a page turner you won’t put down. I highly recommend the book and the author.

This serial killer mystery is set in Southern California, it’s #10 in the Kendra Michaels series which I haven’t read before. I didn’t feel lost reading as a standalone but, I’m sure character background would have enhanced the story. The main character, Kendra, is a music therapist who assists the FBI. She has elevated auxiliary senses like smell and hearing since she was once blind. Lynch is a operative for the Department of Justice and there’s some sort of friends with benefits vibe between them. They are involved with an ongoing case where the convicted killer, Barrett, has more information and secrets he hasn’t revealed. Kendra is trying to protect a previously targeted victim from this ruthless killer who has already made several failed attempts on her life. The young college athlete, Tricia, isn’t the easiest to secure despite FBI detail and precautions. She’s determined and strong willed, easy to identify with. This psychopath is also coming for Kendra and using those closest to her as a way to manipulate and inflict pain.
The plot was easy to follow, many interesting supporting characters involved with the case. The balance of the book devotes as much to the daily Kendra/Lynch relationship as it does to the psychological suspense portion. It didn’t add to the story for me. I would’ve liked more background and motives about the suspect, perhaps that will follow in the series. It was a pleasure to finally read these authors and I would definitely read their works again.
The digital advance reader copy of “More than Meets the Eye” by Iris Johansen and Roy Johansen, Grand Central Publishing, was provided by NetGalley. These thoughts and opinions are all given voluntarily without compensation and are my own honest personal views.

When taking a prisoner to a crime scene goes horribly wrong and a bomb is detonated and many law enforcement officers are left dead or wounded, Kendra Michaels comes in to see if she can figure out what happened. Was it the killer who left it there before he was captured or was there someone else working with him?
True to form, Johansen leads me one way just to have it twist back another direction. This Kendra installment was action packed and I loved seeing old characters pop back in and the introduction of new characters as well. I felt like there was a lot more romance intertwined in this one and I enjoyed their relationship flourishing and how Adam waited for Kendra to come to terms with when she was ready for this to go forward.
Thank you to Grand Central, Iris and Roy Johansen and Netgalley for an early copy.

My Thoughts:
When a serial killer agrees to a plead bargain he agrees to show them where a body is buried but when they get there the serial killer has another plan for them. That’s when Kendra Michael’s is called to help. After having surgery to regain her sight Kendra Michael’s can sense thing others can’t but she soon realizes that the serial killer was not acting alone and his partner has something else in mind for Kendra. This is the 10th book in the Kendra Michael series. I love that this mother and son writing team wrote about a strong female character who is overcoming a disability which only makes her better at her job. I’ve been an Iris Johansen fan for years and the addition of Roy Johansen just adds to this writing. This is a book filled with action, murder and mystery , that keeps you wondering and with a strong female character.
More then meets the eye is the 10th book in this series but it definitely can be read as a stand-alone I would recommend reading. Thank you netgalley

More Than Meets the Eye is book 10 in the Kendra Michaels series and it was my first book in the series. I really loved the book and the strong female characters in it. Kendra Michaels was blind for the first 20 years of life and can now see. During her time as a blind person her other senses developed much more than that of a person with sight. Now that she has her sight back the other senses are still working at a heightened level and she notices things that others miss. Due to her unique ability she is often asked to help local police, the FBI, and others.

The book starts with a serial killer on trial for lots of murders he's committed. Barrett, the serial killer, agrees to a plea deal in which he will take the police and other law enforcement to each body that he murdered so that the families can have some peace. As the large group of reporters, camera men, photographers, police, FBI, etc arrive at the first sight a couple of men start digging where Barrett tells them. The one man hits what sounds like metal and before anyone can think about what that might be, the second man hits it hard and the area blows up. Almost everyone is killed immediately and body parts are strewn across the area.

Kendra is called in to give her opinions and insights into the bombing. Someone other than Barrett is killing people in the same way that Barrett did. It becomes obvious that Barrett was not working alone. Who is this other killer and what does he want? The only victim that got away from Barrett was Tricia Walton, a competitive swimmer. She's now in college and is much bigger and stronger than when she was attacked in high school. She has trained hard in martial arts so that she will never be unprepared if attacked again. When it becomes clear that Tricia is in the crosshairs of the next killer, Kendra brings her to her apartment to keep an eye on her. Lynch comes back to help Kendra once he hears of the bombing. Lynch and Kendra together is magical and I want more in the next book.

As Kendra, Lynch, Olivia, and the FBI guards try to keep Tricia safe will the succeed? Will the new killer, Milo, kill someone close to Kendra like he's threatening? Why does he keep calling with information about Kendra, Tricia, and others? He's obviously following Kendra and Tricia's moves and says he could've killed them when they were walking Olivia's dog. More guards are called in, but will it be enough? Tricia is training for a huge swim meet that could make her an Olympian. Will she be able to continue with her swimming? Will Milo get to her at the pool? Is Lynch in danger? You'll have to read the book to find out and I highly recommend that you do!

More Than Meets the Eye will keep you flipping the pages well into the night and you will love every minute of it. Do yourself a favor and get this book. I rate the book 5 stars and can't wait to read more in the Kendra Michaels series! I'd like to thank NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for an advanced copy of the book in exchange for a fair review. #MoreThanMeetstheEye

My New Year’s Resolution of providing feedback as soon as I finish a book is still going strong!

Thank you for allowing me to read an advanced copy of More Than Meets the Eye by Iris Johansen and her son Roy Johansen. I have read the entire set of books featuring Kendra Michaels and I love them. The characters are real and interesting, with the plot fast paced and suspenseful. I’m glad that Kendra continues to use her extra sensitive powers of sound, smell, hearing and taste. I’m also glad to see more of the secondary characters fill out their roles in the book. Here’s to more of Kendra!

Two author who are able to bring their world of mystery to readers all over the world who will finish book 10 and still need more from there to authors.

More Than Meets the Eye is another can't put down mystery story that will have readers wondering what will happen next as they absorb chapter after chapter of this cat and mouse game between a serial killer and Kendra Michaels.

Readers will not be able to put this book down until the very last words are read Late into the night.

It has been years since I read Iris Johansen. She's still got it and I love that she's writing with her son. I have not read this series but am thinking I will go back and read it!

Tricia Walton is a college student who has survived an attack by James Michael Barrett, serial killer. She had hoped her life would go back to normal, but despite the death of Barrett, she is being stalked. Now that he is dead, who would stalk her? Kendra Michaels is brought in with her team to protect Tricia and others. Tricia somehow escapes her bodyguard and decides to handle things herself.

Those book was full of drama and suspense, and had many twists and turns!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Grand Central Pub for my ARC copy in exchange for an honest review!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of More Than Meets the Eye by Iris Johansen and Roy Johansen that I read and reviewed.
This is the tenth book in the Kendra Michaels series and it was another excellent addition to an excellent series by this duo. This book started with a bang and kept the reader guessing on who the monster was who blew up a number of FBI agents and who is now after a world class swimmer and Kendra Michaels.
With Kendra on the case and her friends this crazy killer has little chance of reaching his goal of getting his targets but it is fun reading about him trying to get there. This book was a very fast paced and also added more to Kendra and Lynch’s story so that was also an added plus to this book. This was an excellent book from start to finish with a couple new characters that also were also great additions.
This book gets five out off five stars from me.

Tense thriller that keeps you reading. With this tenth book in the series, I’ve come to know the characters well and enjoy watching them grow. The changes that come are good for moving the book and characters along. I’m really looking forward to the next book and only sorry it won’t be soon.

Holy Cow This book was amazing!! I have to admit I received this ARC not knowing this was a series but I will be reading the rest now! I love how they wrote this book because I didn't feel lost coming into this series. I felt like I read the other ones. This was a great ride and I can't wait to read more. If you want a book that pulls you in and you don't want to put the book down then this is the book for you. I have a feeling that's how all the other book in this series will be too.

Thanks NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for allowing me to read this ARC in advance.

I'm gonna say it, I'm just going to rip the bandaid off and say it. I don't like Kendra. I love Lynch, I love Olivia, I enjoy Metcalf and Griffin and Tricia, and I even enjoyed Milo. I don't like Kendra. I think she's got a huge chip on her shoulder and treats people terribly. After 10 books, this one was the first one where I saw her grow as a person.

Whew. Ok, I said it. I feel better. That aside, the story line was intriguing and as per usual, the cast of characters make the book. Roy and Iris Johansen are one of the few author duos who can write seamlessly together and I love it!

A solid 4 1/2 stars for me. Thank you Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are mine and mine alone.
