What do u you when a grumpy ex marine and a music teacher who loves singing and all things singing beyond lives next door to each other ? A grumpy sunshine, opposite attract romance. They are different in every way, but they learn about each other. And it was fun to see and read about. This was a great story about opposites coming together and growing.
I received this ARC through the publisher and I am voluntarily reviewing this book, opinions are my own

A fun holiday romance with a grouchy hero and a sunshine girl. It was almost saccharine sweet, but I still enjoyed it. There is enough conflict between Liam (grouchy) and Tessa (sunshine) to keep my interest and I find I am looking forward to the next book in this series! Liam has lots of siblings so we should get a few more books about this small town

Loved jumping back into the middle of the Donovan Family and getting more acquainted with Liam.

Trying to readjust to life in Laurel Bay Liam is trying to put down his own roots. What better way to do that than to buy a home. But when you move next door to a ray of sunshine will you allow her to shine or will you rain on her parade.

I absolutely enjoyed watching Tessa and Liam go from tolerating one another to wanting one another. Their combativeness towards one another was entertaining and their feelings for each other were guarded until they burst into flames.

Opposites attract they say but their story was more that just overcoming their differences. They had to accept and overcome their pasts to forge a future.

As if Tessa and Liam aren’t enough to keep you engaged we get to catch up with the rest of the Donovan family members and all the family drama.

If you’ve read Dare Me and Tempt Me you will probably be just as excited for the next book, Save Me, which gives us Riley’s story.

Samantha Chase writes another wonderful Donavan love story! The characters and town are so easy to fall in love with. I also love that the series continues to follow the previous couples! Even though this is book 3 in the series, it is also a great standalone!

When Liam moved next door to Tessa he was immediately turned off by the Halloween decorations including a huge blowup snowman who had a habit of drifting over into his yard. He was not amused, in fact, he was downright disgusted. The next thing he knew she was at his front door with a welcome to the neighborhood basket. This led them directly to fight number two.

Eventually they reconcile their differences and Liam convinces Tessa that they should pretend to date so she get past losing her husband and best friend. Of course, it's not that easy to fake date without getting involved.

Funny in places, full of angst in others, Tempt Me is a book of appreciation to family and friends. I think you will like the Donovans as they marry off their children. The narrator, Carly Robins, adds to the story. Her voice(s) are excellent.

Tempt Me by Samantha Chase is the third installment in the series. Liam and Tessa’s story of an unexpected enemies to lovers romance. Coming back home wasn’t everything he thought it would be. He thought that things would go back to where they were when he was the oldest and took care of his siblings. He forgot that they grew up and became independent adults able to function with out the hero brother looking out for him. Life out of the military, has thrown him into a world where he is no longer the leader of his siblings, but maybe and equal.

4 stars

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 6, 2022

He hates the holidays. She lives for them. Let the games begin.
A small town, grumpy/sunshine romance from NY Times Best Selling Author Samantha Chase

Six months ago, Liam Donovan met the world's cheeriest, most upbeat woman at a wedding.
It was the longest two days of his life.
Now she’s his next door neighbor.
Talk about awkward.

Tessa Sullivan believes in always looking at the bright side. Unfortunately, her new neighbor is the most negative man on the planet and seems to have made it his mission to ruin her good mood on a daily basis. She loves to sing, she loves to smile, but more than anything, she loves to decorate for the holidays. The fact that this seems to bug her new neighbor is simply a perk.

After twelve years in the Marines, Liam is more than ready to come home and start the next phase of his life. He’s starting a business, reconnecting with his mildly over-bearing family, and loves the fact that he’s finally got a place of his own. If only his neighbor’s decorations would stay on her side of the property. There isn’t one thing about Tessa that tempts him…until there is. Now she’s all he can think about.

Being friends makes sense.
Becoming lovers was inevitable.
But having Tessa be his forever is more than tempting.

REVIEW: TEMPT ME is the third instalment in Samantha Chases’s contemporary adult THE DONOVANS romance series. This is former US Marine turned contractor Liam Donovan, and music teacher Tessa Sullivan’s story line. TEMPT ME can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Liam and Tessa) TEMPT ME follows the building romance and relationship between former US Marine turned contractor Liam Donovan, and music teacher Tessa Sullivan.Tessa Sullivan is a widow, having married her best friend prior to his death but Tessa struggles to move forward, constantly living in the past where life was easier and calm. Her new neighbor, former US Marine Liam Donovan was about to become the bane of Tessa’s existence as Liam’s grumpy attitude was harshing on Tessa’s perpetually happy outlook until their relationship turns from frenemies to lovers, a relationship that will struggle with ghosts from the past. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Tessa and Liam, and the potential fall out as Tessa struggles between head and heart, and Liam feels like a third wheel in Tessa’s life.

The relationship between Tessa and Liam begins acrimoniously as Liam struggles to accept Tessa’s always positive outlook on life. Liam’s relationship with his siblings is fraught with jealousy and misunderstanding, and their issues begin to affect both his personal and professional life. Tessa has yet to realize her inability to let go may push Liam out of her life but a one on one with someone else shows Tessa that letting go doesn’t me forgetting the past. There are no $ex scenes, everything is implied.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Liam’s siblings Patrick, Rhyllie, Jamie and Arianna, Arianna’s fiance Will, and their parents Kate and Shane Donovan, and uncle Ronan. The siblings continue to have a love -hate relationship with one another, fraught with jealousy, misunderstanding and heartache but the parents attitude is a one-eighty from the first two instalments, more empathetic and compassionate towards their adult children.

TEMPT ME is a story of family, friendships, relationships and love; a story of grief and acceptance, understanding and love. The premise is entertaining and captivating; the romance is sweet and passionate; the characters are emotional, charismatic but struggling to be.

Grumpy and sunshine....

Amost to extremes, Liam is super grouchy, and Tessa is super cheerful. I did appreciate that Tessa is upbeat despite life. Liam and Tessa don't get off to a great start and that is exacerbated by Tessa moving in next door. to Liam. They do have chemistry, but Liam definitely needs to learn to communicate (the root of all their issues). Hey, Liam, time to grovel.
Recommend.

(4⭐️’s) This may have minor SPOILERS so be warned🚩

Tempt Me is a story that brought on all the feels and is great for this time of year. I will even admit to shedding a tear or two towards the end so you may want to have some tissues handy.

THE H (Liam): Definitely a grumpy H. Almost to the point of being a total jerk, especially in the beginning. Thankfully once they got together he wasn’t that bad until the drama towards the end. I could understand his side but he needs to learn to communicate and the h pretty much tells him that. But I will say the way he groveled was MAJOR brownie points in my eyes. He and his family did good.

THE h (Tessa): Loved her. It was hard to read what she was going through and actually brought tears to my eyes a couple times especially in the end. I loved how she never took the H crap and told him exactly what was on her mind. And the main drama towards the end was where she really stood up for herself and knew she needed to work on herself first before anything could go further with the H. Of course she was still mad at the H (rightly so) but his grovel scene fixed that right quick.

SIDE CHARACTERS: Okay. Loved the side characters however i’m gonna say it…some of the stuff Kate said to Ryleigh was seriously mean. I know she means well because she’s an awesome character who loves her children but still. The eating thing and then seeing what she does in the next book…yeah…not happy but will see what happens.

ENDING: HFN with the feeling of an HEA.

TRIGGERS: Deceased loved one (h-off page, but we get details and its the major issue between the H and h)

STANDALONE: This is a standalone but I recommend reading this series in order. There are a lot of side characters and for some reason it felt like I should have already known them and their backstories. Kinda like I was missing something that was probably covered in the first book. Thankfully that feeling wasn’t that bad and went away after a couple chapters.

OVERALL: I really enjoyed this story. I will say again how I wish I would’ve read Call Me and Dare Me first but oh well. This was still a good read that had my emotions all over the place. Up next is Ryleigh’s book (Save Me) and I think thats the one I’m looking forward to the most out of all the siblings. Her’s is a fake dating trope and let me tell you, after what her mother did, I would fake date a guy too just to get her off my case. January can’t come fast enough.

Happy Reading🖤

Oh and I received an ARC from NetGalley but this review is 100% all me.

Tempt Me by Samantha Chase, book two in The Donovans series, is an amazing, roller coaster love story between Mr. Grumpy and Ms. Sunshine. Liam Donovan is the oldest of the bunch, with the typical oldest child's attitudes, bossiness, and responsibilities. He's been away from the family in the military for several years, and a lot has changed. He and his best friend, Will, are opening a fishing camp while Liam is figuring out how he fits into the new Donovan family dynamic. After buying a house, he has to deal with his next-door neighbor’s over-the-top holiday decorations. Tessa Sullivan, a school music teacher, moved to Laurel Bay to get away from her well-meaning family and friends. She wants to live life on her terms and always tries to look on the bright side. She has her reasons for her sunny disposition, and she genuinely enjoys seeing people smile. These two are oil and water, constantly clashing, until they finally discover a common ground, and in doing so they both learn, grow, and find love. What seems like a fun holiday romance develops into an emotional, heartfelt story of two people leaving their ghosts behind to find their best selves on their road to forever.

Filled with magnetic attraction, sizzling chemistry, holiday magic, drama, clever banter, supportive and endearing secondary characters, and an overbearing family, this was another amazing story by Ms. Chase; opposites attract romance that is entertaining, touching, and heartwarming. I highly recommend Tempt Me to other readers and look forward to the next book in this series.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

The cold shoulder has addiction written all over it. Liam and Tessa turn emotions inside out. With an ironic sense of humor and a depth of emotion that washes over the soul, Tempt Me turns spicy attraction into heartwarming romance.

I usually enjoy Samantha Chase's books, but this series is not for me. This book was a DNF at 30%. The whole thing was too syrupy sweet for my tastes. I couldn't connect with the characters.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

This one was a nice story. I really like the grumpy/sunshine trope. I did occasionally feel like I should have read the first two books first. My biggest complaint was the fat shaming that the heroine’s mom does to her. I really thought we would be passed that. It’s one thing if it’s a non-nice character, but this is supposed to be one of the most loved people in town. It’s not okay. I almost dropped a star over it.
