Thanks to NetgGalley for this ARC. I absolutely loved this addition to the Georgian Gentlemen series. The story follows Emily Norton and Henry Buckland as they work together to solve a mystery, fall in love, and solve a crime. If you are a fan of historical romance, than this novel is for you.

Thank you net galley for the advance reader copy of this novel. I enjoyed this clean historical fiction about a color blind curator finding a match. This was a sweet story with a happily ever after.

What a delightful novel from start to finish! The Unassuming Curator by Sian Ann Bessey is the fifth book in the Georgian Gentleman series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Emily Norton and Henry Buckland had a great meet-cute. It was so charming you knew they would meet again, and romance would blossom. The descriptions of the settings, notably the British Museum, made me feel like I was walking alongside the characters as they viewed the artifacts.

Henry is a curator at the museum, and Emily is making her season debut. They have a lot in common and quickly discover their compatibility. It seems like everything is going fine in their courtship until Henry enters a dangerous situation. While it was apparent who "did it" and what would happen, I still loved this book.

I only had one moment while reading where I was confused. Emily acted like she knew Mr. Toole, but he was never introduced or talked about in the book. So, I can only assume he appeared in one of the other books in this series. He was not central to the story, so it didn't matter, but it would have helped to explain how they knew each other.

While not a Christian book, it was clean, sweet, and fun. I highly recommend it.

I received a copy courtesy of Covenant Communications through NetGalley for my honest review.

I love the continuation of this series! The characters are likable as always, and I really enjoyed the sweet love story. It's so simple and believable, a good reminder of what relationships are best based on. I hope to continue to be able to see these characters in future books! I'm off to reread the others!

Henry is a color blind curator of the British museum, Emily is a bit socially awkward. I liked the sincere interactions between them, their common unusual interest in the natural world. You know, when you read a lot, a lot of historical romances, it's nice to read a gentle love story now and then. I feel like Sian Bessey knows that a story doesn't need angst and drama to be effective. It's why I go back to her time and time again. Her stories are refreshing amongst a sea of way too much at times. There's a maturity in letting your characters and love story stand on its own without getting bogged down in unnecessary conflict and drama. I admire this about Sian's stories and will gladly continue to read them. I received an ARC from the publisher and Netgalley for an honest review.

This was really cute, humorous, and light. A very enjoyable feel-good read! I was easily won over to the kind and intelligent couple at the heart of the story. And if you are a museum lover like me, it's a treat to catch a glimpse of the early days of the British Museum.
Emily Norton is heading to London for her first Season--although she's far from certain that she knows what to do in elegant society. Henry Buckland is a curator at the British Museum with a passion for natural history. At an enjoyably written meet-cute, these two recognize something of a kindred spirit in each other. With the help of a quirky aunt, Henry finds himself playing escort through the museum and setting up other less-than-usual adventures that allow a friendship to flourish.
It was refreshing not to have to wade through pages of misunderstandings or acerbic banter with these two. They come across as mature and genuine.
With the plot, there was a bit of intrigue toward the end that felt just a little much to me. But overall this was quite a fun and gentle read that made me chuckle several times and which I would recommend!

"The Unassuming Curator" is a romance set in 1790 in England. Emily loves learning and reading. Henry doesn't really need an income but works as a natural history curator. With some nudges from a matchmaking relative, their shared interests bring them together. (Flowers and butterflies are specifically discussed.) They became friends and more as they spent time together. They supported each other and built each other up. The main characters were engaging and reacted realistically to events. Historical details about the museum and time period were woven into the story. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this very enjoyable romance.

Both Emily and Henry are such loveable characters. I couldn't put the book down. It was a smooth flowing read with no major drama with the MCs. I loved it. Can't recommend it enough. Definitely one that I will add to my collection when it becomes available.

LOVED this story!! Sian Ann knocks it our of the park again! She is quickly becoming one of m favorite must read authors! She stories are engaging, her characters lovable, and her writing style is easy to read and flows nicely.

Emily is ill prepared for her first London season. She would much rather read a good book, When she meets a handsome and interesting gentleman on the way to London digging up some flowers, she is intrigued and pleasantly surprised when she meets him again in London.

Henry is colorblind but does his best to keep it a secret. Being a curator at a museum and being colorblind has created some difficulties for him, but he manages. Intrigued by the beautiful lady he meets while picking a flower to determine its color, he is excited to meet her again and begin a formal relationship. But when tensions at the museum arise and more gentleman vie for Emily's hand, will Henry be able to keeps both of his loves?

I highly recommend this story!!

Emily is headed to London for the season with her brother and his wife with the obvious hopes of making a match, yet she knows her enjoyment of reading and learning are not approved endeavors among the women of the ton. She begins to catch the eye of different suitors, but there's really one who stands above the rest. The gentleman she met on a country lane digging up a flower. When she meets Henry at a dinner party, they have a good connection and though he's not seeking a courtship, he's drawn to her passion for learning, which he enjoys boosting though his position as a curator at the British National Museum.

As their bond deepens, the work at the museum expands with new benefactors, which raises a competitive spirit among the other curators and distrust begins to grow.

I really enjoyed this story and the plot lines both of their relationship and Henry's work at the museum. There's an action filled ending, and Aunt Millward is a smooth, loyal and commanding secondary character you just can't help but love. This is my second title by the author and it won't be my last! You'll enjoy this if you like clean, historical fiction.

Ok, first off, what’s not to love about a Sian Ann Bessey book?! She is one of my absolute favorites!! Second, Emily and Henry and phenomenal characters. They are both so equally matched when it comes to their quick wittiness. I couldn’t put this book down from page 1. There are so many twists and turns and adventures that I’m sure you will find it the same way!

Sian Bessey has quickly become a favorite author. This addition to the Georgian Gentlemen series is fantastic! I especially loved that the female mc and I share a name. ❤️ Henry was delightful and I loved that neither he nor Emily shied away from their live of science. The addition of color blindness was intriguing, and something I haven’t read before. All in all, a win that’ll be going on my shelf!

An Unassuming Curator by Sian Bessey
Oh, how I loved this book. Emily Norton came to London for her first season, accompanied by her brother and sister-in-law. Emily is not like others of the ton she's not afraid to be herself, but has many interests one of which is reading a variety of subjects.
Henry Buckland is a curator with a secret, a disorder that he believes is his alone to bear.
I loved Aunt Millward she was a delight, her quick wit and encouragement.

I’m always up for a story by Sian Ann Bessey! The main characters were wonderfully sweet and relatable.

I enjoyed seeing Emily gain confidence in herself and not worry so much about others’ thoughts.

Henry was so good and perfect in the way he loved Emily.

My favorite character though was Aunt Millward! She was so fiesty and sure of herself and her influence. She really was entertaining and helped move things along.

I enjoyed seeing Adam again and learning more about his little family.

This is a great read with lots of love, humor, mystery, and even a little danger. I heartily recommend it.

"My dear boy, the comments not meant for one's ears are the most interesting and enlightening comments of all."

This latest novel from Sian Ann Bessey was such a fun ride! I thorougly enjoyed the adventures of Emily, a woman with a penchant for learning in an age where women's education was relegated primarily to domestic responsibilities, and Henry, a scientific curator at the British museum.

Intrigue, academia, and romance tie together beautifully in "The Unassuming Curator!" What more could I want from a novel?

I loved the characters in this book. Emily is sweet, kind, smart and knows what she wants in life. Henry is also sweet, kind, smart and unassuming. Henry has a unique condition for his profession, he is color blind and is a museum curator. He has gotten by with a few well placed questions and good people, when cataloguing plants and animals.
I love their first and second meetings. So much fun. I love how well they compliment each other. The side characters are just as much fun. Especially Henry's Aunt.
There is a bit of a mystery involved as well. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it.

Mrs. Bessey has the ability to pull the reader into the story within just a few paragraphs and this story is no different.

Henry is a curator at the British Museum, in the natural history department specifically. His favorite pastimes include digging up flowers and other flora from the side of the road and cataloging butterflies. But he has a secret: he is color blind. A condition that was rare in Georgian times and not at all understood.

Emily is an inquisitive young lady who is on her way to London for her first season with her brother, Adam (he appears in An Alleged Rogue) and his wife, Phoebe. Emily longs to find a match that will see her intelligence and value her as she is.

Henry and Emily meet in an adorable way on the side of a country lane and the rest is history. With lots of fun side characters that add dramatic flair and interest, there is always someone to watch as the story unfolds. I loved the intrigue at the museum that unfolded slowly as the story progressed. Just remember, to everyone is as he (or she) appears.

I highly recommend this book!

I loved this story. Both the leading and supporting characters were wonderful. The only person I didn't like was the villain and of course, the reader isn't meant to like a villain. Seeing the museum from the curator's point of view was interesting and the romance was sweet. I LOVED the clever ways used to avoid unwanted matches. The aunt was particularly astute at this. I loved her. Those scenes were particularly fun. I can't actually think of anything I didn't like about this book. It was delightful.

No sex or language
Some violence
