Upside the worst part of this book is that it has a cliffhanger. I absolutely hate cliffhangers more than anything. But this book hit every single other thing on the head so I will look past it and still recommend! If you love elf's this is the book for you. Just be aware there is no spice!

This title was rather a fun read. A bit slow in the beginning when they were introducing all the characters. There were so many characters that it was a bit clustered and hard to follow at times and some characters seemed to serve no purpose at all. As the competition moved further along, the stories pacing also picks up and it becomes rather lively. Definity would recommend to those who love shows like :The Bachelor".

This is a great introduction to Ya fantasy. It had a wonderful setting, lots of interesting characters, an evil Queen and a hidden baddie.
I loved the idea of the Royal Match making competition, Qloey was a strong female lead who came into her own at the end. I really enjoyed watching her build different relationships with all the contestants. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

I wish I could say that I loved this book, but unfortunately it fell flat. It had a lot of potential, but it felt rushed and lacked depth. That being said, I plan to favorite this author and read any books they write since the writing style was good.

This book is perfect for people who like ACOTAR and Zodiac Academy. It has a cool magic system and amazing character development. I loved it

this was overall an okay book, but i didn't really connect with it. the story felt forced, and there were so many characters that it was hard to keep track. some of the characters were kinda annoying, especially qloey, in the way that she just couldn't decide what she wanted - most of the time i was like "STAND UP TO YOUR MOTHER. ITS YOUR LIFE."

I did enjoy this title, but it felt very much like a reverse version of The Selection by Kiera Cass. Nice touch of mystery and plenty of drama.

Die Idee vom Buch hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Auch der Twist und wie es geendet hat fand ich spannend und interessant. Auch, dass das Ende ein Happy End hatte, aber nicht unbedingt mit dem man gerechnet hat, war erfrischend. Die Geschichte ist auch so gut angelegt, dass ich Lust habe Band 2 zu lesen. Doch ich fand es mit den 12 Männern teilweise sehr schwierig den Überblick anfangs zu behalten, wer wer ist. Im Laufe der Zeit stachen dann die Favoriten soweit raus, dass es dann okay war, aber auch die viele Dates hätte ich gern etwas kürzer gehabt und die entsprechenden Szenen etwas länger, manchmal flog eine tolle Szene einfach so abrupt vorbei und die dann doch wichtig für die Gefühle des Hauptcharakter war, dass sie etwas mehr Aufmerksamkeit der Autorin verdient gehabt hätte. Kurzum wäre die Geschichte auf sich Kandidaten reduziert gewesen und die Dates weniger aber ausführliche, hätte das Buch meiner Meinung noch mehr rausholen können. Auch war mir die Hauptfigur zu naiv dargestellt, dafür, dass sie ihr ganzes Leben nur auf den Thron vorbereitet worden ist, wusste sie leider erbärmlich wenig darüber und war sehr naiv, doch damit konnte ich leben. Kurzweilige Unterhaltung, überraschende Wendungen und trotz der Kritikpunkte, lesenswert und macht Lust auf mehr.

There's a subplot that someone is trying to kill her but there's not really a reason on why he's doing it and he doesn't even get in trouble.
She doesn't even pick the guy she's actually in love with.

It was not just romance, there is a mystery as well. A whodunit, someone is trying to get her killed. I will admit that the one who she married was my first choice but not her's. She had different pros and cons with each of them. I'm happy with how it ended and I'm for the second book.

It was an ok read. I think that the descriptions seemed a bit childish like it did not fit the main character’s age I think if it was more towards her age then it would’ve been much better. I really loved the drawings of the suitors I just wish that it could’ve been in the beginning of the book it was still interesting to see them during the book but I personally prefer in the front so I can just flip back and see it again instead of flipping throughout the book. I will probably pick up the next book.

It's the perfect balance of romance and action! I love this bachelorette type of novel! My one complaint is that the love interest was a bit obvious from the beginning, I would've loved a plot twist or something dramatic.

This book gives me serious Selection series vibes. Mostly from The Heir and The Crown, since the main characters are so similar. They were both shallow and naïve, but managed to grow into a decent princess. The biggest difference is Qloey's family; they are absolute monsters, so cold and uncaring.

I wish there was more world building. Qloey was gifted compassion at her Christening by her godmother, and that's basically all we learn about godmothers and the world building. Several times, they mention fairy tales (Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella) but never get any history in them.

The story was very lighthearted and cute. The author managed to mostly obscure the assassin, though I did manage to guess it in the end. She also managed to keep us guessing on the winner of the competition, mostly through her mother's choices.

If you like The Selection series, this book is for you. I will most likely read the sequel.

If you loved Kiera Cass's Selection series, you are going to love this book! While at times it a little too similar, I really enjoyed the whole story and there were enough differences to keep it interesting. Princess Qloey is on the market for a husband and future King and she has the privilege of being courted by 12 of the regions most eligible bachelors. There are Elves, Dwarves, Dukes, Knights, and a commoner. After getting to know all of the gentlemen, there are clear front runners for the Princess, however, her abusive and downright rude parents, have different opinions on who the Princess should marry. Follow Princess Qloey's journey in choosing a husband and watch as you fall in love with a handful of men and root for them the entire time. Galloay did a great job of keeping the final pick a surprise and you won't be disappointed.

Similar to the Selection, The Royal Matchmaking Competition is about a princess who has to chose a husband amongst contestants, to be her Emperor as she rules as Empress. The constants are from different kingdoms, typically nobles, chosen by th people of the kingdom.

First of all, no chemistry whatsoever between Qloey and any of her suitors. The fact that she kept falling in love with all of them after one interaction made me want to throw my Kindle across the room. I do not even know under what basis she chose her husband because I saw little chemistry between them.

Secondly, the portrayal of mental health was so toxic. The whole kingdom started to question Valley's mental state, including her own mother. The comments of whether she is fit to rule and that she is going crazy were too much.

The childish ramblings were also a bit too much. A lot of concepts were introduced like they were pulled straight out a toddler show from tv. Many wild concepts were combined. A very weak world building and character building overall.

I was intrigued by the premise bc I love these bachelor style stories, especially when they involve political intrigue and fantasy. Unfortunately, this one was not for me. I was not a fan of the writing style and it seemed plot points were not fully developed. Random fairytale references were randomly thrown in and didn’t make sense in the context of the story.

There’s a lot of potential here and I think with some expanding and refinement, this book would be a solid read for me.

This story is just the start of a history/history set in one universe, and when I read the blurb, I thought I would love it! Yet, this story unfortunately was not in my favor... I felt there would be some Selection vibes, and I found them there, but this story unfortunately used way too much talking about than showing.
Qloey is a princess about to start participating in a matchmaking competition where twelve suitors will try to get her interest and become the King in the end. It should be an easy time, but there is a complication - someone is after her life! I wanted to like her, but she seemed so unlikeable in my eyes that I lost interest in her almost immediately - especially when I got flooded by the number of male characters, that were introduced to us quickly and with no way that I could get to care about most of them - after reading I remember like 2 of them that got important to me.
Contestants have different traits, but when everything was rushed in the introduction (we were told about them but not allowed to get to see them at first in the action of the book) - the fault to bring so many characters in one book. I hope that in the next book, contestants would be more separate in introducing and distinguishing themselves.
Overall this book had potential that I wanted to fall for, but in the end, it did not work and I felt so disjointed from this story. I hope the next book will be better.

This is the first book in the RMC series and is the first book I have read by author Zoiy G. Galloay. Princess Qloey is heir to the throne and to pick her consort is required to take part in the royal matchmaking competition. The competition invites 12 bachelors including elves, dwarves, humans, royalty and commoners to participate in competitions to win dates with princess Qloey.

Qloey seems to be a princess that has a different perspective than her parents on everything and doesn’t seem to have been brought up with any love or kindness in her life. She is fighting behind the scenes with her parents from the beginning of the RMC about her actions and choices. Qloey is very interchangeable and often doubts herself following discussions with her parents before then going back to her original thoughts. It is clear that the empress, Qloey’s mother, does not mean to let Qloey choose her consort and tries to manipulate the situation whenever possible.

There are 12 bachelors and it was difficult to get a true flavour for all of their personalities throughout the book. There were only a few that I felt I could say I liked or disliked.

During the RMC there are a couple of assassination attempts which also lead to the threat of war from a neighbouring centaur army.

Although this was a romance book it is very tame with a few kisses being shared and therefore it is a clean romance. I prefer my books with a bit more spice or at least some chemistry or tension that is building to something.

I didn’t like the ending of the book at all. Qloey seemed to bow down to pressure and didn’t stand up for what she wanted at the end. All bar one of the contestants seemed to be accepting of the decisions made which was too straightforward for me.

There were elements of the story that I felt were rushed and other parts that were laboured and repetitive.

I like the concept of the story and think there is definitely potential as this series develops. If you like a YA story with a fantasy aspect and clean romance then I would recommend this to you.

This fantasy read had a little bit of everything-magic, mystery, competition and betrayal. I love all the different magical beings and creatures that were included and the drama of the matchmaking competition. The ending definitely surprised me but not it a bad way- even though it was unexpected, I feel that it fit well.

This book really just took me for a ride. I loved the build up, the character development, and the writing. I would definitely read more from this author!
