I adored everything about this book, the cover is so eye catching and fun and gives a great initial insight into what to expect.

There’s so many twists and turns and I loved how all the characters stories intertwined so well. The characters were all really well developed and I found myself really disliking Ciara and rooting for Mishti and Lauren. I really enjoyed Mishti’s narrative and the backstory on her life in India as well as Lauren’s past in their current town.

I found myself wondering where the story was going, I couldn’t figure out who was to blame and it really kept me guessing right up to the reveal.

I’d definitely recommend Disha Bose’s debut novel and I’d definitely love to read more of her future books. Thanks so much to Disha, Viking and NetGalley for the advanced copy of Dirty Laundry.

An intriguing concept that is makes for an addictive read, but it feels like something of a missed opportunity. Whilst it touches upon some great critique of society's treatment of women and motherhood, it feels like it doesn't stick the landing. The utilisation of the flashback at the start, showing the tragedy then cutting back to the days/weeks prior, feels incredibly overdone.

I really enjoyed this debut novel set in a small Irish village.. A twisty tale, full of unlikeable characters that kept me guessing. Murder, affairs, whatapp groups, influencers, bitchiness, marriage, raising children away from all you know. all written with a almost too close to home accuracy at times..
This was a nice distraction from real life, pulled me in quickly and while my interest waned a tiny bit in the middle, the ending was deeply satisfying. I really enjoyed the writing and look froward to reading more from Disha Bose.

3.5 - 4 stars. I think this one will be popular, wishing the author every success..

Dirty Laundry introduces Ciara, Mishti & Lauren, three ladies living in the same village. It starts with a shocking discovery and then goes back in time to see the events that lead up to it.

Ciara is one of the most unlikeable female characters I've ever come across, I felt no sympathy for her.

This is a similar style to the Liane Moriarty books I've read, but set in Ireland instead of Australia. An enjoyable read, even though I'm not a massive fan of the whole yummy mummy, influencer scene.

The plot is as deep and dark as it gets, multi-layered with 'who knew what when?' as the strands come together and the finer details get filled in. This is an absolutely compelling, gripping book full of mystery and suspense. Only a few authors can write deeply involving psychological drama of the very highest quality.

The E-Book could be improved and more user-friendly, such as links to the chapters, no significant gaps between words some text written has been typed in red and a cover for the book would be better. It is very document-like instead of a book. A star has been deducted because of this.

This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and would read more of their work. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

3.5/5.

A bit of a slow burner but an easy who dunnit holiday read with a touch of Desperate Housewives/ Big Little Lies vibes running through it. The story focuses on three rather unlikable neighbours - Ciara, Lauren and Mishti and their intertwined lives within an Irish village. The story goes back in time to describe the events that led-up to Ciara’s murder. As everyone had a reason to hate Ciara, there are rather a lot of suspects!

Thank you to NetGalley, Penguin General UK - Fig Tree, Hamish Hamilton, Viking, Penguin Life, Penguin Business, Penguin for the opportunity to read and review this compelling read.

I really enjoyed this book. It tells the story of a group of young mums in a village in Ireland. Each have their own personal issues . Then one of them is found dead at her home. The story then goes back a couple of months and it becomes obvious that there are any number of people who could have harmed her. This is a story that will keep you guessing right to the end, with some great characters. Thanks to NetGalley for a preview copy.

A gripping who-dunnit like the Irsh version of Desperate Housewives. I enjoyed the different perspectives of motherhood portrayed in this novel - the "perfect" housewife who seems to have everything except a husband who loves her, the "hippie" mother with an unreliable partner, and the lonely woman in an arranged marriage..

Definitely a good beach read!

This is a fresh, often funny take on the complicated friendships so many of us have. Set in a small town near Cork, and featuring three couples (Ciara and Gerry, Mishti and Part, and Lauren and Sean), this novel addresses themes including obsession, betrayal, modern-day parenting and dangerous social media pressures. Influencer Ciara appears to have it all and is the envy of most of her neighbours, but her shocking murder is only the starting point for friendships to crumble, secrets to come to the surface and, as the title suggests, dirty laundry to be aired. This was a satisfying and fast read and there were many occasions where I was wondering if events would take a harmonious, Maeve-Binchy inspired turn … the answer, as you probably guessed, is a resounding no! I warmly recommend this book and would like to thank NetGalley as well as the publishers for the free ARC they made available to me.

Ciera is a blogger whose life is played out over social media. After moving into a small village, she makes friends with a tight clique with the exception of Lauren. Lauren lives her life on her own terms. A mother of three, her partner Shaun begins an affair with Ciera. .
Mishti and Parth have an unhappy, arranged marriage. Mishti pines for a lost love and even thought Parth looks good on paper, he soon begins to fall under Ciera's spell.

Ciera is the cause of so much unhappiness, especially when she begins to manipulate Mishti and the clique but unfortunately Ciera's perfect life comes crashing down when she is found dead on the floor - but who killed her?

The ending was a let down, I did expect more drama as the build up was quite tense.

I have to confess to feeling a little bit let down by this story. Disha Bose has created such a thoroughly unlikeable character as Ciara (who I'd have cheerfully murdered after only a few pages) but the rest of the story didn't quite live up to the promise of the first few chapters.

Don't get me wrong, it would make a good holiday read but it certainly didn't have the twists and turns of the sort of thriller I really enjoy. It was just a little too tame for me.

Ciara is an excellent character though - self-centred, obsessed with social media, loves the power she wields in her social circle but its not entirely clear how she has ended up with this power. Her husband seems utterly superfluous to the plot, as do quite a few of the other characters. Although we have to follow each to find out who is responsible for Ciara's death.

Mishti who has settled in Ireland with her psychiatrist husband (both of whom are dissatisfied with their arranged marriage) has fallen under Ciara's spell but again its not clear why (apart from one very early incident) Mishti continues to be friends with someone so clearly manipulative.

We also have Lauren who appears to have no friends (and again, despite her living in the same village it is not clear exactly why nobody likes her). Lauren is a target for Ciara's taunts so she's a prime suspect.

Then we have 3 men - Ciara's ineffectual but successful husband Gerry, Mishti's husband Parth and Lauren's husband Sean - all of whom Ciara has bound to her in some way.

There are all the ingredients for a truly suspenseful tale but by the end I wasn't really bothered how Ciara had died or why. Like I said, early promise which ran out for me. I'd definitely pick up another book by this author because I think she'll definitely hone her craft in future stories. One to come back to I hope.

Ciara, Mishti and Lauren three very different women but all mothers, in relationships that teetered on the brink.
Were they friends? Perhaps not and there in lay the crux of the novel, the relationship between the three, the simmering undercurrents that in Bose’s capable hands slowly rose to the surface.
I detested Ciara, the women who seemed to have it all, money, the perfect house, children, husband and a lucrative sideline in marketing herself as a yummy mummy on Instagram. Bose made her manipulative, selfish, cold with a willingness to steam roller anyone who stood in her way
Mishti has an arranged marriage, a husband who treated her like a maid, there to feed him, look after him and provide him with a child. She was my favourite, quiet unassuming but with a steely determination that didn’t emerge until the latter parts of the novel.
Lauren was your awkward bohemian, motherhood infused within her very being.. yet she was a loner shunned by the mothers in the village, her feud with Ciara, at the centre of it all.
What nine could foresee was the ending, the path towards it as the simmering tensions and actions gravitas towards an unexpected ending.
A great debut that I loved

Thanks so much Penguin for sending me an advanced copy of Dirty Laundry!

This was such a pleasure to read, I was glued to it every chance I got. In fact, my e-reader died on me when I was on a plane and I was so mad that I couldn't find out what happened next. This book is perfect if you loved Desperate Housewives or just love some small town drama.

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

Ciara is a full time mum, who is also an influencer with loads of followers. She lives in a small village, where her best friend, Mishti, also lives. Ciara also lives next door to her arch enemy, Lauren.

This story was excellent. I really enjoyed the writing style, and the story was so engaging and relatable. The story had elements of Mean Girl vibes with a clique of friends all following Ciara in her hate towards Lauren. The characters were all great and really well written, and the author gave them time to develop throughout the book. Each character brought something different to the story. The story itself had twists and turns, and each page made me side with a different character. An excellent read that I’d highly recommend!!

For me this book never really got going and I was soon tired of the posts on social media, bitchiness and sad lives.

The three central women live near each other, Ciara, Lauren and Mishti and in each marriage there are downtrodden bits plus, of course, abusive parents in their background.

Not for me and DNF.

Thanks to Net Galley and Penguin General UK for the chance to read and review.

Washing dirty laundry has never been so gloomy and fascinating at the same time.

A seemingly quiet neighborhood is inhabited by young families, but behind every door lies at least one secret. Behind false kindness, you can find hostility, envy, adultery, and much more. All of common human nature congregated in one place.

Ciara, Lauren, and Mishti are three mothers and wives, and some of them are friends. But they are not the women you expect. Underneath the perfectly curated surface, a gigantic tension simmers, which soon erupts into murder.

A compelling novel with protagonists who express real feelings and thoughts. Totally believable.

I kind of miss a more cathartic ending.

I picked this up expecting a 'real housewives' vibe. One perhaps fitted the typecast, but it was more about the differences rather than similarities between the three leading women/mothers/neighbours in particular their different marriages - one an arranged marriage, one a marriage of convenience and one devoted to a philanderer. I liked that it started with a murder and then the goes back in time to describe the preceding events. Sadly though it never really took off from there. It was a bit all over the place - mixing past and present, and domestic drama with murder mystery - but without any real hooks or substance. The characters are very stereotypical too and I couldn't really warm to them or get invested in their unhappy marriages which didn't help. So overall a bit underwhelming sadly.

First off, I would like to thank NetGalley again for this ARC.

Dirty Laundry by Disha Bose - 3/5

I went in to this book with high expectations since seeing an ad of it months ago, sad to say it didn't really live up to it. I didn't necessarily dislike this book, it was an okay read for the most part. Although, what bothered me was how much effort it took for me to like the characters, and even with that I still didn't really like any of them. They were all just incredibly mean people being mean to each other, especially how women in this book treated each other.

The plot would have been great if executed properly, but in all honesty, all this book had was missed potential. We don't need any more stories about women being superficial, self absorbed, and made being mean their whole personality. I reckon that if it had the sort of narrative where these women were helping each other in a way and building each other up, it would have made a better read. The pace also felt dragging throughout and only picks up towards the end.

I generally avoid leaving reviews that are more on the negative/criticising side but I do prefer being honest when it comes to reading and reviewing ARCs. I just wasn't a big fan of it.

Neighbourhood friendships can be wonderful or catastrophic and this book is about how good times can turn into bad times if one of the people “go rogue”. Ciera is married to Gerry and they have two children. Gerry is a sort of non event really in the book. Ceira married him for his money and a comfortable live but that was not working out so well. They live in a big house and she likes to be the centre of everyone’s world and takes what she wants. This leads to an affair with a neighbour, Sean. Sean is living with his partner Lauren and three children. Then in comes Mishti and Parth into the mix. This is an arranged marriage and not a happy one. Mishti becomes close to Ciera. Ciera uses that friendship to be unkind to Lauren. Is that because she is having an affair with Sean? Ciera makes her own money, which Gerry supposedly does not know about, being a blogger. The women in the village follow her on Instagram and Ciera for whatever reason makes it clear in a subtle way that Lauren is not in their fold. This causes so much anguish and distraction that Lauren becomes hyper sensitive to her surroundings and becomes very unhappy. As always with social media and alcohol Ciera posts something on Instagram which suddenly becomes toxic and the rest of the story you will have to read. All the characters in this book have their own issues and when mixed it makes you wonder who will crack first. I did enjoy this book but did feel it had a slow start. A little disappointed with the ending
