Unfortunately, it was not the book for me. None of the characters, dialogue or plot lines packed a punch to hold my attention. Way too boring and felt like it dragged the whole time.

I'm not drawn into this story and I'm sorry, I won't be finishing it. The characters' speech is stilted, they're not compelling, lots of generic dialogue. It's not for me.

Eden and Beck meet at a memorial service for Everett. Everett was Eden's mentor and Beck's stepfather. They have never met before but are instantly aware of each other. Eden is a driven law student and Beck is a journalist. They find out they will both inherit something from Everett. The story does have some complications for the two. True love never does run smooth! This is an enjoyable romance. Romance fans will enjoy this book.

Thank you to #netgalley, #SandraKitt, and #SourcebooksCasablanca for a copy of this book.

Book received for free through NetGalley

Read 48% of the way into this book but couldn’t get into the story. It was written well just not my cup of tea.

An entertaining fairy tale romance. Enjoyed reading how two people's lives were unexpectedly changed for the better both because of their inheritance and the fact that they met. The setting is great and the author does a nice job letting you see various aspects of Washington DC. This is a feel good book with a slow build romance that is an easy, relaxing read.

I was happily surprised by this book. Both Eden and Beck inherit millions of dollars. That in itself is life changing However, they are both grieving, and dealing with personal issues. It’s would be a meet cute if not for the fact they met at a memorial service. It’s a progressive relationship that really has nothing to do with the money. The inherited money really only points out their individual characters. It was a feel good book I thought. voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

The story was enjoyable and I found myself rooting for the couple. The male main character was the most likable. The female main character seemed strong except when it came to her sister, and then she became a wet noodle. That was annoying and seemed out of character, especially for a person who had the balls to confront her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend.
Her sister was the most unlikeable and immature adult character…..I even liked the selfish ex-girlfriend better than the sister.
There was just the right amount of angst, steam, and conflict.

I also appreciated that there weren’t many typos or spelling errors. Only a couple, such as, “I’m known since the day of the memorial for Everett.” and “I’ve been thinking it about it a lot, Beck.”

I was glad to see a new novel by Sandra Kitt. She always does a great job of mixing romance with real-life issues. This was no exception. The story of Eden and Beck was an enjoyable read. I would receommend this book. I look forward to more from Ms. Kitt.

Sandra Kitt…can’t say that I’ve read anything by this author, however, suffice to say this won’t be my last time doing so. “The Time of Your Life” by this new author to this reader was just a wonderful romance that I truly enjoyed. The book cover captured my attention Eden Marsh’s life is drastically changed when her mentor leaves her millions. She has some life-changing choices that includes potential loves, family, and ex. Then there is Beck Dennison, the mentor’s stepson who has been left millions too. Both are suspicious of one another but find themselves drawn together. This story was a slow-burn romance with a bit of humor. Loved the setting of Washington D.C. as I could picture the city through the eyes of the characters. This was a feel-good story and very good read! Look forward to more from this author and recommend the read.

Have you ever wondered what a story of a determined, driven law student falling in love with a kind-hearted journalist who met at the wake? Sandra Kitt's novel, 'The time of your life,' is the love story between Eden and Beck. Eden Marsh, a 3rd-year law student determined to help others at the detriment of herself, and Beck Dennison, a pensive journalist who has always felt unwanted. They meet at the wake of the late Everett Nicholls, suspicious of one another after discovering they have been left millions. It is a beautiful love story of two people who are faced with unfortunate circumstances and bet all odds against them.

Normally, a book written in this format leads me to not enjoy it as much, but this story was too good to stop. Have you ever read a book that generally changed your brain chemistry, well to some degree this book has? While there are a few moments I wish weren't in there, mainly the bathroom scene with Alia. (Fully understand, personal preference.) Besides that, I generally enjoyed this book. Beck is a new book boyfriend, he's perfect in every way.

-No cheating or ow/om
-Content warning for those who have lost a loved one, abusive behaviour, and growing up as a POC.

Definitely an amazing read!

The Time of Your Life is a romance novel with a perfect meet-cute. Beck and Eden meet at a funeral (not the happiest setting for new love to bloom.) They quickly become important to each other and romance ensues. Things aren't always rosy, but if their love is true, they can overcome any obstacles and find happiness together.
I really enjoyed how the characters met in this novel. It was clear that they were meant to be. I also liked how they helped each other to mend familial relationships. The only thing that I wasn't a huge fan of was the fight that the lovers got into near the end. I know there has to be some conflict before the happily ever after, but this one just felt kind of shoved in. Other than that, it was an enjoyable read with steamy romance.

The Time of Your Life
By Sandra Kitt
A review by Jamilla @LandsAwayBooks

This was not my first Sandra Kitt rodeo, but it’s been a while since I’ve read one of her stories.

And what a story it was!

It starts a bit sad, Eden and Beck have a bit of a meet cute at the memorial service of someone dear to them both, Beck’s stepfather and Eden’s mentor, a man who changed the trajectory of their lives both before and after his death.

Eden and Beck share a moment of deep human connection (and also attraction) that leaves them each feeling a spark. Though to each other their meeting was mere happenstance, never to occur again, fate had a different plan for them.

Of the course of this book, we see their love story unfold, but we also get to see them come to terms and mend bridges with the people in their life and become more whole persons.

This was such a beautiful and warm story!

I’m definitely in the mood to hit up Kitt’s backlog now!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an eARC this book in exchange for an honest review!

Legendary romance writer, Sandra Kitt’s new novel is a warm and intimate story about a charming first encounter that turns into a deep relationship. When successful journalist Beck meets busy and accomplished law student Eden at a funeral, they each mistake each other for event staff. But they soon find out that not only are they profoundly connected by their relationship to the deceased, but both their fortunes are about to change in a substantial way. Their relationship grows in a slow-burn that is mostly gentle with some steamy scenes. Family conflict and past trauma storylines round out this loving and mature novel that fans of contemporary romances featuring professional and multicultural characters, and a strong focus on relationships, will enjoy. Great pick for readers of Jane Igharo’s emotionally complex novels.

This was a very cute romance based on the slow building of a relationship. It deals with family problems of both the main characters, their first attraction to one another and the consequent development of their feelings in a realistic way.
The only thing that made me difficult to read it was the seriousness. It would have been perfect if it had been a little more lighthearted but it’s not a rom-com, so it’s understandable. 3,75⭐️

Millionaire Everett Nichols death had an impact on so many people he touched. At his memorial two people Everett cared for the most, his young mentor Eden Marsh and his stepson Beck Denson are drawn to each other, but also suspicious of the others relationship with Everrett.

Things are further complicated their newfound friendship when they discover Everett has left his millions to the two of them. Deep family problems begin to eat away at the budding friendship. Eden and Beck find themselves faced with guilt and family obligations as they attempt to understand what is happening between them. Negotiating their feelings for each other find the two wondering if they can leave the past behind and build a future together.
I enjoyed this story. Some may find that start slow and want to give up, but I felt the slow pace was necessary to build a foundation for the story to unfold. We were left watching a strained mother/son, big sister/little sister and the guilt Eden and Beck felt from those relationships begin to tear Eden and Beck apart. Will they be able to mend all bridges and build new ones as they navigate new wealth and new boundaries.

A delightful read, overall decided to give this 4 stars because the beginning was a bit slow for me, but once the MCs began to understand each other things went well

Familial relationships are so complex and sometimes it just takes another persons perspective to help guide you in those interactions even if it’s something you’ve always known.

Beck and Eden are so sweet, enjoyed them a lot.

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this

I really enjoyed this! This is my first Sandra Kitt book and it brought me out of my reading slump. It felt like you were going through the motions with the characters- it was real and relateable. I’m from the DMV so it felt a little like beinh home.

Sandra Kitt is one of the legends of Black Romance so I had to read this book. It was fun and really well paced, Eden and Beck are classic enemies to lovers who want to get to the money! LOL. But beyond the money, they need each other to navigate the problems that money brings. (esp family problems). I Really enjoyed it,
