This is a really enjoyable book. It is the first I have read by this author so I had not read the previous Kate Marshall books but this did not matter. Although there were a few 'why didn't the police do this or that' moments I kept reading at every opportunity. I liked the characters and look forward to reading more in this series.
This is an honest review of a complementary ARC.

Wow. Another fantastic book from Robert Bryndza.
I’ve read 3 or 4 from this author now and thoroughly enjoy them. You get drawn in and don’t want to put the book down till it’s finished. This is the best sign of a well written story.
Kate and Tristan are PI’s and get hired by elderly Jean to look into her missing grandson from 11 years ago.
Read this book ad soon as you can.
Can’t wait for the next by Robert Bryndza

Absolutely brilliant!! I’ve read a number of Robert’s books and have always enjoyed them, but this, in my personal view , is outstanding ! Okay it’s a preview copy so there were a few typos , and a couple of inconsistencies still to be edited/corrected but overall it’s an excellent read, great story , fabulous characters , and I read it in one day/evening! Highly recommended.

This is book #4 in the Kate Marshall series. Whilst it is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone book. I love this author and have read all the books in the series plus his previous series, DI Erika Foster, and have loved them all. We meet Kate and her work partner Tristan again. Kate is a private detective, and her and Tristan have set up their own detective agency. Following an accident, Kate is asked to investigate the case of missing three-year-old, Charlie Julings, who disappeared from a camping trip eleven years before.

This was such an exciting read. Once I started it, I knew I wouldn’t be able to put it down and found myself reading it at every given opportunity! I love Kate Marshall – her notoriety in the Nine Elms Cannibal case certainly hasn’t helped her over the years, but she seems settled into her new private detective role with her friend Tristan. We do see Kate in a more vulnerable role than in previous books, and I admit I did really feel for her in this story. The storyline gripped me from the very first page and I was very quickly completely engrossed into what happened to young Charlie Julings! The storyline twisted and turned throughout, following their investigation. As it moved on, there were more questions than answers and Kate and Tristan find themselves involved in more than just the disappearance of the little boy. The locations around the South West of England were mesmerising and as I read I could picture some of the places that I know well, and others that were frightening with their dangerous bogs and sinkholes. The Pixie Tree’s description was amazing, and it was great to have some old folklore rituals included in the dark and desperate storyline.

As with the other books by this author, I loved this one!! It was absolutely brilliant and so cleverly written! The storyline twists and turns and doesn’t give you a moment to catch your breath before you’re off again! I was genuinely sad to come to the end of this book, and I really want to see what happens with Kate in future books – will she carry on being a private detective with Tristan or is the police service calling her back? This was such a good read…so, So, SO good!!!! Fabulous! Would recommend!

I love to read how Kate and Tristan are getting on. Kate goes swimming in the sea everyday but on one occasion she is pulled out to sea she comes round in hospital and meets Jean who has a grandson Charlie who went missing from a tent on a camping holiday she asks Kate to investigate for her but it’s not as straightforward as she thinks as there a lot of twists and turns to this story.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC

This book kept me hooked from the very beginning. The characters were interesting as was the story of what happened to Charlie. I figured what had happened pretty early on but it didn’t impact my enjoyment of the book at all. I definitely want to read the other books in this series now!

This is my first book by Robert Bryndza and I was not disappointed. It is part of a series but worked well as a stand alone. With a strong female protagonist and a haunting missing person's case, I was drawn in immediately. Can't wait to read the other books in the Kate Marshall series and highly recommend for others who love atmospheric mysteries. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

So this was my first book in this series and perhaps it would have been better to have read the previous ones but in all honesty it worked.

The characters were well developed I was a bit confused re a couple of plot points but all in all it worked.

I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own

I loved every second of reading this book. Its so well written and woth so many twists and turns that you just have no clue what's going to happen next. It actually felt like you're watching a series on netflix, it is just that detailed and has that much going on. The characters are well written and you can see everyone and everything so vividly. Absolutely recommend

I liked this thriller…I really liked this book. This author has written a cannot put down mystery. I liked the easy timeline…the third person narrator…the characters come alive on the pages. This would make a great movie or television series. The protagonist, Kate, is likable and intriguing. The other characters add to the story by being believable. The mystery was sad but came to a satisfying conclusion. This book just seemed to me to be like reading mysteries that have entertained for years…like some of my favorites in the past but with a modern touch. This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks also to the publisher and the author. I am eager to read more by this gifted writer. Do not miss this journey with Kate.

Although Robert Bryndza is perhaps better known for his Erika Foster series, his more recent Kate Marshall strand is rapidly becoming essential reading. Kate Marshall was a cop who now runs a private detective agency with her former researcher Tristan. When Kate is in hospital following a near death experience she meets Jean , whose grandson went missing some years ago. On recovering Kate agrees to take on the case of Charlie's disappearance. There is a lot more to the case than expected and the revelations are breathtaking. An excellent novel.

An interesting story about a cold case and private detectives hired to investigate 11 years later.
I found it somewhat disjointed as facts are revealed and may or may not be relevant to the case. Eg:the main character has a serious accident with some immediate health repercussions which is never referred to again.
The unraveling of the case is interesting and probable given the facts that come to light.
For me, the story seems to be in two parts, the first, a scene setting where facts may or may not be relevant to the solving of the crime and the second where the solution to the old case is finally revealed.

Wow without a doubt this has to be the best book so far in this amazing series even though I have loved every previous episode. So this is the fourth book in the Kate Marshall series and it starts with Kate getting into difficulties whilst swimming in the sea and ending up in hospital. Whilst recovering Kate gets into a conversation with an elderly lady who after finding out Kate runs a private detective agency tells her a harrowing tale about her three year old grandson who went missing eleven years previously and was never found so she asks Kate to look into the disappearance and from then on in it’s a thrill a minute rollercoaster of a ride.
Well what more can I say this book took over my life I was hooked and read it every spare minute it was so addictive and excellently written by the super talented Robert Bryndza who just this amazing ability to suck you right into everything he writes, many many thanks to him please never stop writing!
I love the characters of Kate and Tristan as soon as you start a new book featuring them it’s just like you are back with friends and I am now missing them and happy to know it certainly isn’t the last we will see of them.
A brilliant 5 star read I can highly recommend , if you haven’t read the previous in the series please do they are too good to be missed although this one can be read as a stand-alone.
My thanks to NetGalley and Raven Street Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Thanks to Raven Street Publishing, author Robert Bryndza and NetGalley for the arc e-copy of Devil’s Way. Engaging read about Charlie, a 3 year old boy missing for the past 11 years. As PI’s Kate and Tris, hired by his grandmother, look into his cold case other unsolved crimes pop up. Are they connected? Is Charlie still alive? Characters are like-able with demons and depth of their own. My 1st read by this author, I will be adding his previous works to my want-to-read lists. This appears to be 4th in the series and easily works as a stand alone. I’m intrigued by Kate’s story so it’ll be interesting to start at #1. #netgalley. #Devil’sWay

I have read all in this series and the only bad thing about it was how long it’s been since I read the last one! This fourth instalment in the British crime mystery was worth the wait. It could probably be read as a standalone.
Kate and Tristan are trying to be a more established Private Detective agency and do more than pay expenses. A chance meeting from her hospital bed lands their next case after Kate suffers a traumatic near drowning on a routine swim in the sea. While recovering in the hospital her roommate is Jean, a grandmother with a very cold case. Her grandson has been missing eleven years. Charlie was just three years old when he seemingly wandered off during a camping trip.
Jean has her own demons and secrets and failed to mention to Kate that she had Charlie declared legally dead. Very strained, complicated relationships between a former love interest, Jean and Charlie’s parents. A social worker, Anna, had what seems an unnaturally obsessive interest in Charlie. Kate and Tristan must sort out what might have happened all those years ago. Did Charlie wander off, was he kidnapped, did he drown in the river, is he dead or alive?
Their investigation leads them back to the campsite at Dartmoor. Equally as interesting as solving the mystery was the author’s expertly described English countryside in the National park area. I’ve never seen anything on the South coast of England, didn’t know what the moors and tors were. It was fascinatingly beautiful and now I want to experience the area.
Kate’s personal life is bleak. A longtime recovering alcoholic, she still has struggles. The son she lost custody of is now away at college, she missed so much of his life and it seems to weigh on her. Her police background and Tristan’s instincts make for a great team and a must-read series for me. It’s easy to recommend this suspense filled mystery, kept me guessing through all the twists and turns.
My thanks go to NetGalley for the digital advance reader copy of “Devil’s Way” a Kate Marshall Crime Thriller by Robert Bryndza and to Raven Street Publishing. These are all my own honest personal thoughts and opinions given voluntarily without compensation.

*4 Stars*

ARC kindly received via NetGalley for an honest review.

Robert Bryndza always manages to take the most complicated storylines and weave them together in a way that makes sense, and keeps you guessing. This one started off a little slow for me, and I was wondering what was going to happen to speed things along, but once all the pieces started coming together, man, did it all happen.

Kate and Tristan's case was a tough one - this one involves a child - and all the little parts of this case that came together for the conclusion made it one hell of a ride. I wasn't expecting it to play out how it did. I will admit that at the beginning I thought it was the culprit who it turned out to be, but it seemed to easy, or too obvious, or, I don't know, just something that couldn't possibly be the answer.

In the end, the way this tale is woven together, brings out a solution that can go many ways. It's kind of a bittersweet one. Another well written story from this author, and I always look forward to more. Would recommend.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.

Kate and Tristan are hired to investigate the disappearance of 3 year old Charlie 11 years prior. His gran Jean is paying for their investigation, despite legally having him declared dead years ago.
The investigation leads them to Anna, a social worker with a special interest in Charlie, Maureen who owns a photocopier (!) and Danvers farm.

I am enjoying this serious it books. The dynamic of Kate and Tristan is great and I love all the red herrings built into the storyline. However about 3/4 of the way through the book I figured out the ending unfortunately.

Still a 5 star read.

I am a HUGE fan of Robert Bryndza’s and love his Kate Marshall series.
I found Devil’s Way quite slow to begin with but as the pieces of the puzzle started falling into place I was hooked, as ever with Robert’s writing the twists were brilliant.
4 stars.
