Excellent addition to an excellent series. While recovering from a traumatic experience private detective Kate Marshall takes on a cold case involving a missing child. Highly recommend book by one of my favorite authors,,

Another mysterious instalment by the author.

PI Kate Marshall is back with her trusty assistant, Tristan. They are uncovering the details of a cold case where a child went missing eleven years ago during a family camping trip. I loved the various backstories, the supporting characters and the way the author was able to bring it all together. The twists were plentiful and ones I certainly did not expect. Again, the author's writing had me so intrigued and it was another one I raced through.

Simply A-May-Zing! I’m a big fan of Robert Bryndza and have read all his books and absolutely love each one of them. So I knew this book would be good as well, and am happy to say that it went well beyond my expectations. Great plot, superb storytelling, gripping, fast paced - I loved everything about the book. Robert has churned out another bestseller - kudos to him! Am really looking forward to read his next book, hope it is published soon.
Thank you Raven Street Publishing for an advanced copy of this ebook and giving me a chance to review this book!

Charlie Julings is missing. The family had been camping and three year old Charlie had managed to get out of the tent and wander off. A huge search is undertaken but the boy is gone!

June 2018
Kate Marshall wakes to find herself in hospital with an older woman sharing her room. The older woman, Jean Julings, introduces herself and after hearing Kate is a private detective tells her about her missing grandson, Charlie. It’s no surprise to Kate that after the two ladies are released from the hospital, Jean gets in touch and asks her to find her grandson. But after eleven years, they’re not looking for a person, they’re looking for closure.

This book is another twisty mystery from one of my favourite authors and it had me drawn in from page one. The story has plenty of familiar characters from the previous Kate Marshall books all involved in finding out what happened to Charlie Julings. I absolutely loved the book and although I figured out towards the end what was going to happen, it didn’t stop me enjoying it at all. Another great read which I was thrilled to get through netgalley.

A great plot with plenty of suspense to keep interest high until the end of the read. The story was well written and had characters with dialogue that was believable and true to life. I enjoyed the book and highly recommend it to others.

Was very happy to be approved by NetGalley and the publisher and given the opportunity to read and review the latest "Kate Marshall, Private Investigations" mystery from Robert Bryndza - "Devil's Way".
Well, Kate has had a really, really terrible day; after a near-death experience she's ended up recuperating in hospital where she hears the story of Jean's 3-year-old grandson who disappeared one night 11 years ago. And Jean wants her, Kate, to investigate as she's never really reconciled that young Charlie is dead (even though they had a legal declaration of death registered).
After a series of revelations regarding the sequence of events that led up to the disappearance as well as some iffy investigations and dead ends, Kate and Tristan are plunged into a full-scale investigation, though hampered by the fact that they don't have much to go on.
But thanks to a couple of coincidences (Tristan's friend, Ade, was part of the investigation), and some deep digging into the circumstances, they begin to circle the truth and fight their way to a conclusion that they never saw coming.
Can be read as a standalone (there is enough character background rehash) or as part of the series. Recommended.

I am a huge fan and enjoyed this book just as much as the others. Loads of twists and turns and a fantastic ending. Highly recommended. #DevilsWay #NetGalley.

Did anything happen these past three days? Was there anything in the news? If there was, I missed it all as I was holed up with tea, chocolate and Devil's Way.

This is the second whodunnit by Robert Bryndza I've been reading, and again I am amazed at how he paints a picture of the main characters. Tristan with a pen between his teeth as he works, Kate feeling unsure of herself after her accident, Jean smoking again. Perhaps it is the addition of these details that this story has such an easy pace.

It seems his next book will be a standalone psychological thriller and I am looking forward to it.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book.

I would like to thank the author, the publisher and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. This is the fourth book in the Kate Marshall series and it has lost none of it's momentum, it draws you in from the first page and doesn't let go until the end. This book really made me think and I will be recommending it to everyone I know.

Suspenseful mystery with clever characters sprinkled throughout.

Oh my!!! I’ve read every one of Robert Bryndza’s books and they just get better and better. This was a thrilling story that I just gobbled up, I don’t like saying “unputdownable “ however I’m finding it difficult to describe it in any other way…I can usually put a book down and turn on the tv about 8pm.. Not with this book…no tv and read through to nearly 2am to finish it.

My only criticism is that it finished too quickly…..more please!

Thank you to Netgalley the author and publishers for an ARC in exchange for an unbiased review

My thanks to Raven Street Publishing, Robert Bryndza and Netgalley.
I'm a fan of Mr. Bryndza's books, but I don't mind telling you that I've somehow developed a soft spot for Kate and Tristan!
I'll admit that I'm not someone who would enjoy the moors at all. It actually sounds rather bleak and terrifying. Also, just thinking of all the dead and disappeared bodies out there would completely mess me up!
This was a solid addition to this series. I'm ready for Kate and Tristan to find their love interests. Not that I want romance, because I mostly hate that! But, just a hint would be good!
As usual, no review for this book. Just me meandering my way through!
Highly recommended!

This has to be one of my favorite Robert Bryndza novels. It is simply brilliant.

Ex-cop, now a private investigator, Kate Marshall is in the hospital recovering from a near drowning in the sea. Her roommate is a woman named Jean who tells Kate about the disappearance of her grandson eleven years earlier while camping at Devil’s Way.

She asks Kate to look into the disappearance.

This leads Kate and her partner Tristan on a twisty trail. They must interview Jean again as Kate doesn’t think that Jean has told her everything. They meet with Jean’s attorney and his mother who is a close friend of Jean’s. They learn that Charlie’s (the lost child), mother and Jean’s daughter committed suicide. Charlie’s father has remarried and has two daughters. They learn that the family was under investigation by the social services. Jean really didn’t like the social services woman. And there is murder.

The ending was not surprising for me, but it was a lot of fun getting there.

This is a great story, extremely well written and plotted. Mr. Bryndza is a wonderful writer who makes his characters come alive. Even the minor characters in the book were very lifelike. I really enjoyed this book. While I have not read all of this author’s books, I have read a great many and I believe that this is one of his best.

I want to thank NetGalley and Raven Street Publishing for forwarding to me a copy of this excellent book for me to read, enjoy and review. The opinions expressed in this review are solely my own.

‘Devil’s Way’ is the fourth book in the excellent Kate Marshall series by author Robert Bryndza.

I am yet to read a book by this author that I didn’t enjoy whether it be the comedy series he wrote in the early days or the riveting thrillers he concentrates on now. The Kate Marshall series is well written with good plots and interesting characters. This latest addition to the series carries on in the same way maintaining the high standard Robert has set.

The series features Private Investigator Kate Marshall and her partner Tristan. In the latest offering Kate is rushed to hospital following an accident in the sea when she was pulled into a riptide current. Obviously shaken following her near fatal experience she finds herself in hospital to recover and makes an acquaintance with an elderly woman named Jean. Jean tells Kate an heart-breaking story of how her three-year-old grandson, Charlie, went missing eleven years ago during a camping trip on Dartmoor. When Kate is well enough to leave hospital she agrees to take on the case with Tristan’s help, but they soon discover that Jean has a dark past that could have put Charlie in jeopardy.

The question they face is was Charlie abducted or did he fall into the fast river where they were camping known as Devil’s Way. Kate and Tristan discover that a social worker who had concerns about Jean and her daughter was found brutally murdered shortly after Charlie vanished. All of a sudden they start doubt everything they already surmised and realise they need to look again at the family.

This is a great read, I thought I had it worked out but then everything changed.

I would like to thank both Netgalley and Raven Street publishing for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

This is a great addition to the series and Kate and Tristan did it again and wow what this women goes through in her life she is a warrior, loved this book and the storyline was juicy and amazing

Private Investigator and ex-detective Kate Marshall has finally got her life pretty much worked out. In her darkest hours she could never have imagined running her own business, no longer drinking, or having a healthy relationship with son Jake, who at one time seemed been lost to her forever. Living on the coast Kate has also taken up wildwater swimming, but after a terrifying experience lands her in hospital, she finds her next case impossible to refuse.

Charlie Julings would be a teenager now if he hadn't disappeared one night eleven years ago. As soon as she learns what Kate does his grandma, Jean, begs her to look for her grandson. Once discharged Kate and Tristan, her only work colleague, begin looking at what could have happened to the little boy, but how do they search for someone who disappeared without trace, leaving no clues, sightings, or remains?

This is the fourth in a series which improves with each new book and I absolutely loved it. From Kate’s terrifying experience, through Tristan's ever increasing confidence, to an ending which ticked all the boxes, this was brilliant from the start. The storyline was fast moving, with a cast of characters who were realistically and sympathetically drawn and drew me in and kept me captivated throughout.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. I loved this, it is a definite highlight of my reading year and easy to recommend.

Rounding up to 3 stars

I might be the lone voice in not loving this.
Having finished it, I think the plot itself was good. Enough twists and turns to keep you entertained, and guessing the whole way through.
I sometimes feel the actions of the character unbelievable. Actually far too often.
I enjoy Bryndza's writing enough to have read most of his books but maybe this series isn't for me.
