This book gets right to the heart of what is so special about basketball, and gives the game new relevance for our current era. An excellent, inspiring, and hopeful book.

How Basketball Can Save the World is both a book for lovers of the game and those who want to learn more about the history of the sport and the overall philosophy of life it was built upon. I learned so much about James Naismith, the founder of basketball. I did not know he was a divinity school graduate as well as an orphan. It was a unique reading experience to delve deeply into the life of Naismith and the 13 principles connected to his vision for the sport. I appreciate the game so much more after reading this. Most importantly, I understand the game better.
I do not think I will be able to look at basketball the same after this reading experience and I believe this is the reason David Hollander wrote this book. Basketball as a philosophy for living well and facilitating community and unity is a dope concept that I know many will embrace!
