We loved this great book that has a wonderful message for kids, and anyone of any age to remember!

I read this to my preschool class on earth day and it will hopefully inspire kids to make a difference in their own schools and communities!

I appreciated the Reader's Note with more information about the impact of climate change, child-friendly definitions, sample dialogues, and guidance for discussing climate change with children.

In "Something Happened to Our Planet", diverse characters are learning about different ways to help the planet. They learn about planting trees, saving corals, and using. The book teaches about the power of working together and doing our part to help the planet. A long readers note at the end includes more information.

Kids can do their part to help alleviate the climate crisis. Their creative minds can come up with new ways to help, even if they are small changes. Giving kids the confidence to bring up their ideas in front of adults will help them feel empowered.

This book shows kids taking action in their local school to make changes to help the planet. The kids learn about climate change and want to do something about it. They come up with some ideas and figure out a plan. They bring their ideas to the principal, but he says the school doesn’t have the money. So, the kids organize and go to the PTA meeting to present their ideas.

The illustrations show kids doing things to help the planet. They show children cooperating and working together on a common goal. The kids have good communication with relatives and other adults around them. They go outside and experience nature. So, the book characters model skills for kids to learn. The text is easy to read for young readers. The brightly-colored illustrations will appeal to all readers.

This book is published by Magination Press, which is owned by the American Psychological Association. So, there was good planning put into the creation of this book, and others in the series. Both authors have PhD’s and are well-qualified to write children’s books.

The last chapter gives information on the background on the climate crisis. This part is for the adults to read so that they can explain or answer and questions from kids who read the book. There are definitions of some key words and concepts. There is some text about ways to help. Overall, I loved this book and recommend it for anyone who wants to help the planet and to get kids interested in doing so.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is a great book teaching about problem solving and finding solutions. It is a focus on the environment and climate change, but also empowers readers to look for ways they can make change, even at a young age. Definitely would recommend it for both school or family use. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read and review this book!

What a great idea for a book!

Here, just by reading a story, kids will learn how to discuss problems, and work with other to find solutions. Kids will discover that even children like themselves can help with the climate crisis by reusing items instead of throwing them away, planting trees, and working together to bring about actual change.

This is a title that should be in every library and school classroom.

This delightfully illustrated book is an antidote to the anxiety-producing media that address climate change. Providing hope and a path to action for children, the story follows a group of students intent on bringing meaningful action to their homes and school. A non-fiction piece in the back provides parents with ways to help children process their fears, make a difference, and enjoy the natural world.

Thank you Netgalley for letting me review this story. My opinions are entirely my own.

I have been reading a lot of books aiming to help children understand environmental issues and the impact humans have on our planet especially our oceans.

Something Happened to our Planet is the most comprehensive for smaller children I have read so far. The ideas of things children can do is wonderful and putting the recycling is good but reusing is even better idea out there is fantastic. I have yet to read that anywhere

This book is an excellent way to educate children about climate change. I believe that many books use fear to educate and hope that it inspires change. This book takes an example of what children can do to encourage mitigative and adaptive changes to the climate. The Readers Note- at the end of the book shows a sample Q&A to guide parents and teachers through teaching climate change and addressing the questions and fears that children might have.

One young girls inquisitive nature leads to some very important questions. Which then leads to some troubling answers. But instead of settling for the unfortunate fate that her planet seems to be destined for, she decides to take action.

Like the mighty ant whose strength comes in numbers, the young girl recruits her classmates and thus starts the mission of a lifetime!

Something Happened To Our Plant is a wonderful nod to the power of one individual and how important our climate crisis is. This story comes out in March, just in time to have in hand for Earth Day, but working hard to fight climate change should be a year round project! With its motivating storyline, intricate illustrations, and age appropriate facts throughout the book, you and your little reader will reach for this book time and time again. I hope it inspires you as much as it has my family.

I appreciate NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review Something Happened to Our Planet: Kids Tackle the Climate Crisis. This was the sweetest children's book about a girl, her family, and friends who decide they want to do something to help the planet. The kids come up with real ways they can reuse items at their school to make a difference. They come up with plans to get their teachers and school staff on board and use their problem-solving skills when met with reasons why some of their plans might not work. The graphics are crisp and colorful and sure to be enjoyed by children everywhere.

Just in time for Earth Day is a new title from Magination Press that helps kids and adults tackle climate concern. “Something Happened to our Planet” empowers kids to take environmental worries, band together, research, and try (sometimes failing) for solutions to mitigate climate change. I like that the energy is in kids hands with adult encouragement.

I may have kept the storyline tighter by just focusing on the lunch tray movement.

As always, Magination Press knocks it out of the park with Reader’s Notes on the end pages to help adults tackle this tough topic with a kids that guide kids’ worry to healthy optimism and personal agency.

Thank you to NetGalley for access to an E ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed the book. I thought it was really well done with a lot of good information about global warming and ways kids could help. This is such an important topic and the book covered it very well. I thought the pictures were beautiful and the characters in the books were relatable and likable. I will definitely be adding this book to my collection. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this one.

Thoughts from my 10 year-old:
I liked the pictures and I liked that their whole class helped. I liked how they had the idea of reusing the lunch trays. I also liked how they were helping the things in the ocean like the coral reef. I liked how their grandma was teaching her about global warming.

Climate change and pollution are in the news all the time. Kids are curious and this is a good book to introduce environmental activism. There is a great message and its easy to understand for our littles. How is it that one person can make a difference? What difference can I make? This book gives some of the answers in a way that anyone can understand.
The artwork shows a diverse population and is colorful and engaging.

3.5 stars....I rounded up for the great message.....to kids & adults! It's a good story about kids making a difference in their world, & the 'Author's Note' at the end elaborates on how both kids & adults can make a positive impact to/for our planet. It's real good, & instructive in a good/easy way. I think both kids & adults can appreciate & relate to the story line, & illustrations.
I received an e-ARC from publisher Magination Press via NetGalley for review purposes. This is my own fair/honest review.

ARC received from NetGalley

I loved the story of this book, the fact that it has a lead character of color, and how it promotes working together to save the planet. It teaches kids to not give up, and about the problems the Earth is facing. I will definitely be purchasing this for the library-- also because the books has vegetable-based ink and responsibly sourced paper!

This book is a great introduction for kids to climate change, the power of the people to make change and suggestions for actions to take. Beautifully illustrated and well told this would make a great addition to any children’s book collection. It also includes a great parent or education guide with definitions and discussion questions.
