Thank you Netgalley and Montlake for sending me an ARC of this book in exchange of an honest review.

I’m not usually the type of person that reads thriller, but I love Mia Sheridan’s other works and the plot was intriguing so I decided to try this book to enter the world of thrillers.
I didn’t regret my choice one bit because I really liked this, all the small details that made me want to be a detective myself in that moment, the characters that all had a difficult past and obviously the couple who made my heart melt.

The only thing that didn’t let me put the last star was the final part. I liked the epilogue, I feel like it couldn’t have finished in any other way, but most of the last chapters were unnecessary in my opinion. They were a little too long for what they wanted to say in the end.

That’s only my opinion and as I said I’m very new in this genre and I could easily be wrong but that’s how I felt.

Anyway, Bad Mother takes 4⭐️ from me.

3.5*

I definitely did not expect the twists and surprises throughout this book, there were quite a few but I could (just about) keep up with them! I had my suspicions from the start & throughout the book but I was SO wrong …

I enjoyed the romance aspect however I wish it had been explored more… it could have gone so much deeper throughout the plot & really enriched the book!

I found the book hard to get into at first, but once I had gotten to grips with various characters it flowed really well. The relationships between the characters are really heartwarming at times, which was a refreshing and welcomed change for a mystery / thriller book.

Thank you to Mia Sheridan, Montlake & NetGalley for approving me for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

I always anticipate a book from one of my favorite author. This 6 star story had me hooked for the get go.

I will not revealed anything about this amazing story. All I’ll say is it’s a romantic suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat till the very end. It was highly addicting and captivating. I felt so much for these characters. A whirlwind of emotions.

Standalone told in the third person with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story.

Bad Mother is a quick-paced romantic thriller, a second-chance romance, and a suspenseful page-turner of a novel.

Sienna is a detective who gets relocated back to her hometown after being cast out from the NYPD for doing the right thing. Reno is a place she ran from and wasn't planning on ever going back to, it's where her poker-playing ex Gavin still lives. On her first day, a serial killer emerges leaving behind many clues. Ones that start to relate to her and Gavin. Who is the killer, what do the bodies have in common with one another and why does the killer already know Sienna's name?

I enjoyed working out the clues with the detectives, it kept me engaged and it felt like I was there with them. The murder scenes and clues were well thought out and creepy. Usually, I know what direction the story is going in but I was unable to guess the twist until the very end.

I adored Sienna, she was strong throughout and is someone you would want in your corner.
The romance was lacking a little bit but that was to be expected with all the murder-solving going on. I just wish there was a little more tension between Gavin and Sienna. I know it's a second-chance romance but it felt rushed between them like they worked out their issues pretty quickly for being apart so long.

The ending was done excellently, I can't picture a better one that tied everything together more perfectly, the suspense didn't let up until the very end.

Another well-written and brilliant novel by Mia Sheridan that you're going to want to pick up.

Thank you NetGalley and Montlake for providing me with an arc for my honest review.

Sienna Walker a NYPD detective goes back to Reno the city where she grew up. Her first case is about a serial killer, and it seems that the clues of the investigation concern her in some part. Who is the killer and does she really have a connection with all this?
.
A novel full of twists and turns. We follow the investigation, Sienna and the others characters of her past through the puzzles and clues leading to the next victim. Until the end I thought I found the killer and I was surprised until the end. A great story with a touch of romance.
It’s been a long time since a read a great story like this !

OK, so I loved it. Sienna is back where she grew up, and thrown right into a serial killer investigation. This guy really likes leaving clues and puzzles- gives it all a great whodunit feeling. Like, you spend half the book guessing if you've come across the killer, and how they might be connected. Of course, Sienna was also thrown back around her old flame, and the sparks still fly. So this is like a suspense romance crime thriller? And Gavin is a good guy, even if he once broke her heart.

A couple things worth mentioning, for me, was having that AHA moment when the title made sense (that always feels awesome), and surprise that I cried a couple times. This really had me pulled in, I was anxious and trying to figure out things right along with the characters before it was too late!

If you you’re looking for a quick paced romantic thriller with a little bit of police procedural than this Bad Mother by Mia Sheridan is for you. Sienna is a detective relocating back to Reno where she grew up and thought she’d never go back to. As soon as she starts her new job she is assigned a homicide which will lead to another and will quickly become clear that the killer knows her and people in her past. I enjoyed this book it may have been slightly predictable but not overly so. Figuring out the clues with the detectives was interesting and while I had some suspicions about it was all tied together there was still surprise twists and turns. I want to thank NetGalley and Montlake for a digital arc in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first book by Mia Sheridan and I was impressed. I wouldn't say I was blown away by the story but I was intrigued and felt a connection to the characters enough to gasp when something happened. I'm one of those people who can usually guess the "who" pretty early on in a thriller but I actually was wrong with my initial guess...although I was less than halfway through when I did get it correct lol. It wasn't just a thriller. I would call this a romantic thriller. Serial killers, a second chance romance, and the coolest part was how bada$$ the female MC (and really the majority of the female characters) was. Definitely would recommend and can't wait to read more by this author.

In the end, I would give it a 3.75 and say go ahead and preorder yourself a copy!

Bad Mother is a fascinating exciting romantic thriller from an author whose work I admire and have enjoyed immensely.
Siena Walker has been ‘seconded’ back to her home city Reno after being in the NYPD and upsetting the Mayor. Reno contains many memories for Sienna not least been stood up at the altar by her soulmate. She settles quickly into Reno’s police department as a detective and is thrown head first into a murder investigation, it appears a serial killer is on some unknown mission and leaves clues and letters at each scene. Some of these clues involve poker cards been left in the victim’s hands which leads Sienna back in contact with her ex Gavin, he became a professional poker player winning big.
The murders become more horrific and personal as Gavin helps Sienna with the clues they become closer.
This is a rollercoaster of a thriller with some gruesome scenes and twists I really didn’t see coming. The characters have depth and are well described. A well written page turning enjoyable read, brilliantly executed.
A change of pace from this author and I hope to read more thriller’s from her in the future.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly.

Sienna + Gavin

Sienna got into a bit of trouble as a NYPD detective - that's why they sent her off to a new job in Reno - of all places. Her home town.
She left the trailer park as soon as school was done more than ten years ago.
And now she's back. Back with all those memories about her horrible family life and about the boy that got away - or rather the boy who left her at the altar without a word.
And there might also be a serial killer on the loose - with connections to her?

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO SIENNA + GAVIN?
WILL THERE BE A HEA?
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT ☺

Another thrillery mystery romance from Mia. And I loved it!
I could see this all so clearly in my mind - like I was watching a cop show on TV.
We get the adorable second-chance love story part. And we get a mysterious serial killer. Lots of detecting to do. Falling back in love to do.
I really enjoyed this story.
There are those readers who immediately guess or notice the bad guy and what is what. I'm usually not one of those people. And I'm proud to say I was one at least halfway this time. LOL.
I figured out the who really soon but I didn't know how and why and what until much later.

I really loved this book. It was mysterious. Exciting. Romantic. Heartbreaking. Sad. Scary. We had lots of detecting and guessing and riddle-solving to do. I enjoyed reading this. I even cried a bit!

I would so love to watch it on TV - as a movie or a series.
Sienna and the others were all really great and interesting. I wouldn't mind getting a (book) series with these people.

A fun fact you'll notice. The Reno PD seems to be run by lady cops! I loved that. Sienna, her partner Kat and their boss Ingrid. Go Girls!

► BAD MOTHER was a mysterious and scary and heartbreaking Reno-Cop-Show-Psycho-Thriller-Serial-Killer-Romantic-Second-Chance-Love-Story thingy?! LOL! GO READ IT!

Tiny little complaint - not really a complaint - just something that bothered me a bit. Or bothers me in Mia's suspensy books. Just like in the last books she again uses the word CRIMINALIST way too many times. Before reading Mia's previous suspense books I had never heard the word. On TV we only get words like CRIME SCENE PEOPLE. CSI. FORENSIC GUYS et cetera. Those might not always be the correct terms for whatever those people's jobs are, but we are used to those words! I googled criminalist and of course it's a real word and a real job. But I just wish that Mia wouldn't use it THIRTY TWO TIMES in one book! Change it up a bit - even if it's not the totally correct job title - just say CRIME SCENE PEOPLE please! 😁

This author was new to me so I wasn’t sure what to expect but I loved it. Little breadcrumbs sprinkled throughout left me needing more and questioning everything.

Warning- incoming book hangover coming your way.

I really enjoyed this! I have a secret to share - this is my first Mia Sheridan novel (awful I know) but I found her writing well paced and full of great content.

I read this in two sittings - it would have been one if I didn’t have to go to work but I loved the characters and found Sheridan so compelling.

And who doesn’t love a second chance romance right?

I can’t wait to pick up more work by Mia!

This was a very interesting book, billed as a romantic thriller. Sienna moves back to her hometown of Reno after being disgraced at the NYPD. She ran from her life and created a whole new one.

On her first day, a serial killer starts his spree, leaving clues relating specifically to her and her ex, Gavin. From there, the plot twists and turns to an ultimately satisfying conclusion. Sienna was a very interesting character, and I liked the side characters as well. I ultimately started putting things together a little before the characters, but it didn’t take away from the story at all.

I don’t want to give anything away because this book was a good read. It was definitely a page turner, and kept my interest. I had trouble putting it down to sleep last night and settled on my porch to read the last 40%. Definitely pick this one up and enjoy the ride!

This book was on track to be the best I’ve read lately—I couldn’t wait to pick it back up again every time I had to leave it. The many interesting clues were breadcrumbs that I was excited to follow. However, and I suppose this might be spoilerish, things took a sharp turn with the reveal from over two decades ago—this mama’s heart split in two for the broken woman who was faced with every mother’s worst nightmare. Then it broke even more at the end, both for that same poor woman and for the man who was still very much an abandoned little boy at heart.
This is still a five star read for me, but man, did it hurt my feelings. If you’re also an emotional mom in the postpartum period of life, be warned! I think this story will stick with me for awhile…even though I’d really rather it didn’t!

It’s a second chance romantic thriller. Sienna is a cop who moves back home, and is immediately assigned to a case involving a serial killer. In the midst of her investigation she is reunited with her childhood love.
The content heavy and fast paced.

BM by M. Sheridan, published by Montlake is a full-length thriller with romance elements.
Sienna left her hometown years ago, became a Detective. But now she's back in Reno and her past shows up rather quick. Her first case brings her to an old love, Gavin.
Gavin is an ex.card-champion and now head of security at a casino. And he gets roped in Sienna's case.
A complex, suspenseful read that had me right from the start. I read the book in one sitting, cover to cover, luterally unputdownable. A fantastic read, 4,5 stars.

Detective Sienna Walker is back in Reno and on the job after she’s forced to leave her job with the NYPD. Reno is the last place Sienna wants to be after her painful past, but a job is a job. She vows to keep her head down and immerse herself in her work, but she quickly acquires a fan- a serial killer that likes leaving her notes. When one of his references include her ex-fiancee, Gavin, Sienna knows she has to pull out all the stops; the killer is obviously someone who knows her very well, someone who won’t stop until she stops him
