This was such an incredible book - a romance novel with murder and mystery, and without being too corny. I am ready to read more books by Nora Roberts!

Resilient and Adaptable, Loving and Fierce – words to describe Morgan Albright!

Identity by Nora Roberts will take you on a ride of a serial killer who steals identities (and bank information!) and then quickly changes his appearance and moves on throughout the USA. When he targets Morgan, and has his first fail, he becomes obsessed with ruining her financial life – and finishing her once and for all. Morgan, an army brat, finally has roots: a house and two jobs and a roommate that’s also her best friend. But when Luke comes into her bar – with his sites on Morgan, everything changes. Morgan moves back to Vermont to get back on her feet with her mom and grandma, to start over, again. However, this time, when Luke (aka Gavin) comes for her, she will be ready with the whole Jameson family and her “ladies” by her side.

There is a reason Nora Roberts has had a long, successful career as an author. She can weave a story like no other and keep you captivated from the very beginning. This book made me want a good cocktail and be appreciative for the strong women in my life.

I loved the family love and support this novel showed between the Nash and Jameson families. The two separate family businesses added a special touch that NR fans will value. However, I did start to cringe more and more as “my ladies” or “her ladies” was said in the second half of the book – it was beyond redundant and became annoying. Also, I felt that Gavin’s character – while in a downward spiral – became less believable and the ending scenes were too quick and almost anticlimactic.

I will say the reality of how easy it is for someone to steal your identity and take everything you have worked for is extremely scary. With all the advancements in technology comes criminals who can learn and play the system; maybe readers will try to secure their accounts better after reading this!

Even being predictable, NR fans will not be disappointed. The story flowed perfectly and delivered across the board. Readers will love Morgan’s tenacity and root for her success. There was romance, suspense, and redemption. I could have used more grit and steam, and about 100 pages less of descriptive dialogue – but NR kept me as a fan and I will read anything she writes! 3.8 stars rounded up!

Thank you NetGalley for this great ARC! All opinions are my own!

I have been reading Nora Roberts for decades. She was my introduction into the adult romance genre and will forever be a comfort author to me.
As any follower of hers knows, she has a few different sub-genres she writes. Romantacy, romantic suspense, or your regular small town romance. This new book is one of her romantic trillers and it didn’t disappoint. Her side characters always make you wish for more about them because she does such a good job making you fall in love with them too. I love Nora Roberts and will read everything that she writes .

Special thanks to Net Galley and St Martins Press for sharing this advanced digital reviewer copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.

One of my all time favorite authors!
Identity by Nora Roberts is a romantic suspense thriller that does not disappoint! The main character just wants to set down some roots after growing up in a military family. Morgan works two jobs, has purchased her own home and has all the pieces in place to achieve all her dreams. Unfortunately, everything falls apart when she meets the wrong person. She loses so much after this one person rips her life apart.

Left with no choice but to move back home, Morgan tries to start over. Moving home comes with some typical difficulties but the family dynamic between Morgan, her mother and grandmother is lovely. Wonderful representation of strong, independent, intelligent woman who support and love each other.

Morgan slowly starts to find her way by finding a new job and a new love interest. As a bonus, the love interest has a very cool sounding dog!

The struggles are not over for Morgan as the nightmare from her past continues to stalk and torment her as the story continues. A great thrill right with multiple perspectives. Absolutely worth a read!

*Received a copy for review.*.
I have been reading Nora since I was a teenager. Her suspense novels have a certain flow. It doesn’t make the story boring or the characters dull. Everything is familiar in the best way.
I loved Morgan. Her mom and grandma were great.
Miles’ whole family was terrific. I loved how their relationship evolved.
The bad guy was a bit less than what I expected. It didn’t ruin the book but it’s not my favorite.

Overall a very well written book in the true fashion of Nora Roberts. Has some suspense along with some romance thrown in which makes for a great book in my opinion. This book is really quite disturbing in the fact that really anyone's identity can be stolen nowadays. The amount of havoc the killer in this book caused by just getting his target's information is just scary. Basically wiped out everything his victims work for.

So this book follows Morgan. She is an army brat who wants to put down roots. She has a plan all mapped out to obtain what she wants: her home, her future job, her relationships, etc. When she meets Luke while bartending, she figures he is just passing through for a few months so why not get to know him. Little does she know that he is a killer who has targeted her as his next victim. One his plan fails, he still takes everything Morgan has worked for including killing her roommate. Devastated, Morgan eventually moves back home with her mom and grandmother and begins to rebuild. She gets a job working for the resort and eventually meets Miles, the son of the owners of the resort. Things blossom between the two slowly but yet quickly in a way. As the seasons change, Morgan slowly comes back to her former self. But unfortunately Luke is still at large and coming for her. He is slowly spiraling and blames Morgan for all his problems as the only one of his victims to get away.

Can Morgan trust the people around her? Can she keep them safe? All things she contemplates as the loved ones are at risk.

Definitely recommend. Only downside I found for this book is you knew who the killer was from jump. Would have been nice to have that be a bit more of a mystery. Good read though and really enjoyed the development of characters and the relationship Morgan had with her mom, grandma and Miles.

Morgan owned a house and loved her jobs and her best friend. When she meets Luke one night she decides she likes him and they go on a couple of dates. Her best friend, Nina lives with Morgan so one night they have Luke over and Nina''s boyfriend over, for dinner.
That's when everything happens. Luke get all kinds of information off of Morgan's computer.
Nina is dead and Luke has stolen Morgan's identity racking up bills in her name. Morgan moves in with her mom and Grandmother and starts her life all over. Actually loving her new job and meeting a man. But Luke isn't done with her yet. I was so glad how much in the face that the FBI was and trying to track Luke down.
Thank you to St. Martin's and NetGalley for the book to review.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for an eARC of this title. All opinions are my own and are honestly given.

After surviving a brush with a serial killer who ruined her financially and killed her best friend, Morgan Albright returns to her mother’s home in Vermont to pick up the pieces of her life. She gets a job at a local hotel, starts a relationship with the hotel owners’ oldest son, and begins to put down roots. But the serial killer, Gavin Rozwell, has no intentions of letting the woman who broke his perfect streak go, and Morgan finds herself drawn into a cat-and-mouse game as the killer leaves pieces of Morgan’s jewelry on his next victims in order to let her know that she’s next…

Nora Roberts is a titan of the romance genre, and Identity is a great example of why readers the world over adore her books. Told in dual POV between Morgan and the killer, I found myself totally engrossed as readers follow the two strands of the story– Morgan as she survives and rebuilds her life in Vermont; Gavin as he finds more victims and increasingly becomes obsessed with the idea of finishing what he started with Morgan. I would definitely characterize this more as a character-driven suspense novel with romantic elements rather than a traditional romance novel, but I had a great time reading it and am already looking forward to reading what Roberts writes next. This will definitely be a purchase for us in a variety of available formats, and I know it will be a big hit with our patrons. 5 stars.

Nora Roberts has a backlist of stories a mile long and then some! She also writes under the name JD Robb for her "In Death" series which unfortunately I don't care to read. But Ms. Roberts' stand-alone contemporary suspense are more my style and I've read quite a number of them over the years. This title, Identity, was a breath of fresh air juxtaposed with my crime fiction thriller books, which is my favorite genre but can get stressful at times. Sometimes I just want a bit of romance and an easy-going suspense plot.

In this one, Morgan-- an Army brat who wants to settle down and get on with life-- takes up a career of bartending near Baltimore MD. But after being swept up with a flirty customer supposedly named Luke, Morgan's life is in turmoil, but also danger. Luke has killed her friend Nina when he really wanted to target Morgan. The FBI warns Morgan of how diabolical the "Luke" person is and she flees to Vermont to be with her mother and grandma. She meets a new love interest, the steady and safe Miles, but she has to look out for Luke, who may be coming after her soon.

Fans of Nora Roberts will enjoy this one and if you haven't read one of her books before, a stand-alone such as this one will appeal to readers of romantic suspense, women's fiction, and genre fiction. Recommended!

This book is excellent. Nora Roberts is the most consistent author I have ever read. I have been reading her books since she started writing. Her writing is like poetry, and I always look forward to her new releases. Her characters are wonderful, and the settings are described magically. Love this book and storyline!!

This is actually the first book I've ever read by Nora Roberts. I've always seen them and heard how good they are, so I wanted to see what she's all about. I'm pretty impressed and so happy I picked this up. I thought this was a really suspenseful thriller with a good dose of romance. Morgan Albright was formerly in the Army and is now working as a bartender. She is living with her friend Nina. Well when they decide to throw a dinner party, Morgan invites a guy who's been chatting her up at the bar. Turns out he's not who he says and turns out to be a con man who steals women's identities, assets, and then murders them. But this night doesn't go as planned. Now he must find Morgan and right his wrongs.

I don't want to say too much, but I cannot wait to read more by this author. This was right up my alley!

Out May 23.

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own. My review will be posted on Instagram,, Bookbub, Goodreads and Amazon once it publishes.

Identity by author Nora Roberts is set to release on May 23, 2023 and is being published by St. Martin’s Publishing Group. When I pick up a Nora Roberts book, I am pretty sure that it’s going to be an enjoyable read and one that’s going to keep me glued to the pages. And Identity was just that! This book is a thriller about a psychopath named Gavin that goes after women. He steals their identity and takes everything he can from them and then he takes their life. He’s very successful with this until he goes after Morgan Albright. Her friend Nina messes up his plans by being home when she shouldn’t be so he ends up killing her instead. This irks Gavin because he feels like Morgan got away. The fact that she moves to Vermont with family and starts her life over really irritates him so he plans to go after her and finish the job the right way. This was an exciting read for me. I liked all the characters, Morgan’s mother and grandmother were amazing and I liked how the Jameson family were so close and family oriented and how they all worked and participated in the family business. I love the way the story wrapped up. Morgan was so brave, she used her head and really kicked some butt. And in the end she got everything she had ever wanted. It was an all around perfect read for me and it’s one I highly recommend. I’d like to thank NetGalley for the arc to read and review. This was a great book, one I really enjoyed and I am giving it a 5 star rating. I can’t wait to read what Nora Roberts comes up with next!

Death, taxes, and Nora Roberts novels. The inevitability of Roberts's plots in her standalone romantic thrillers make them both comforting and enjoyable. No matter how bad things get, you know that you will have strong families, strong friendships, and true love winning the day. In this book, Morgan is a young bartender, happy with her life and living with her best friend, when she is targeted by a psychopath/sociopath (apparently he is both, as well as a malignant narcissist and maybe a few other labels I can't recall). Not only is this guy a brutal murderer, he also steals his victim's identities, plunging them into deep debt before finishing them off. When he kills Morgan's roommate and ruins Morgan financially, she is forced to move in with her mother and grandmother in Vermont. Meanwhile, the killer (Gavin), keeps killing but is obsessed with knowing Morgan escaped his clutches. As Morgan builds her new life, complete with deepening family bonds, making new friends, and eventually falling in love, Gavin is making his way back towards her to end things. If this sounds over the top, well, yes, it completely is. Doesn't make it any less fun of a story, even as I rolled my eyes a few times at Gavin's complete evilness. A quibble I do have with Roberts is that happily ever after always, always seems to mean marriage and children for her characters, and as a very happy woman who purposively chose a child-free life, I would like to see that very narrow definition make way a bit for other options. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for a digital review copy.

Identity by Nora Roberts stars Morgan Albright, a master bartender. She is working hard to make something of herself. Luke comes into the bar, and she is charmed. In just a few weeks her roommate Nina is killed, and Morgan’s identity is stolen, and she is left with nothing.
She picks up and goes home to Vermont to her mother and Grandmother. She gets a job at the resort owned by the Jameson family. She and the oldest son Miles hit it off and started a relationship.
Luke, who is really a con man, named Gavin is after her.

I like the way we get to all the different points of view, My kind of book. The book is full of depth and worth a read. I have read lots of Ms. Roberts’ books and this is one of the best.
Highly recommend.

If there was a patent on writing romance, Nora Roberts would own it! Roberts has such a magnetic way of writing that she draws you in from the jump, and her latest novel is no different.
I was blessed to receive an ARC for this book, and as usual, the author did not disappoint. From her realistic plot-line- identity theft- to her sympathetic and likable main characters- Morgan, the main focus and heroine, and Miles- to the antagonist- Luke/Gavin, deemed "too smooth" by Morgan's coworker- this book hits all the points Roberts is known for, while bringing a unique new story to light.

I love Nora Robert's stand alone books and this book was no exception. The story captivated me right from the start and it held me to the very last page. I applaud the author for tackling such a timely problem in today's society. Identity theft has impacted so many people's lives. Add to that, a con artist who is also a psychopath and you have all the elements for a suspensful novel. The other part of the story that has her falling for a quiet, loyal, grounded guy who's family is amazing puts the lovely element of romance into the book. The author takes this couple of a "slow dance" of a relationship, allowing you to watch it build until both you and the characters realize that they are meant for one another. I also loved that family was such an important part of this book, from the family who owns the resort that Morgan ends up working at to the three generations that live together in one household. Morgan, her mother and her grandmother's relationship to each other are a wonderful addition to the story and watching their relationship grow and flourish is heartwarming.

Thank you to Net Galley for the advanced copy of this book.

Nora Roberts's IDENTITY is a comfortable love story with a hint of suspense. I found myself liking Morgan and "her ladies" more than I thought I would, and Morgan's struggles to rebuild her life and recover (or, perhaps, build for the first time) a sense of identity were compelling and pleasurable. I never really took to Miles, and I didn't understand why Morgan did - he seemed rude and one-dimensional, only redeemed by fulfilling the "protective alpha-male" stereotype. Still, the book was a fun read.

This book just wasn't it for me. The beginning intrigued me right from the start and I was excited to keep reading. However, the middle was long and dragged out and it just felt like the same thing kept happening over and over to me. I really just wanted to get to the end to have the issue resolved.
