True Nora Roberts gem. Complex characters that resonate with the reader. There is a hint of the Pelican Brief style mystery on this particular book which I enjoyed, a different feel that previous Nora Roberts novels.

I'm a big fan of Nora Roberts. My first series I ever read from her my husband bought for me. He had no idea if i'd like it and I told hime I'd never read her books but I'd try it. The series was The Inns Boonsboro Trilogy. After reading that series I was hooked with her writing . So when I had the opportunity to read this book I took it. This was a great romance with some suspense. I absolutely devoured this book. The characters were so lovable and that made it so easy to read. I would highly recommend this book!
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for allowing me to read this ARC in advance for my honest opinion .

I love Nora Roberts books. I love how her female characters are strong and independent.
This book felt slightly off for me. I'm not sure why. As a fan, I know and understand the pattern of how her books work: 1) strong girl meets boy, sparks fly but said sparks need to be avoided because other things are more important. 2) Sparks can no longer be avoided so let's have the fire but only let it burn quick and hot; there will be no simmering. 3) Fire burns hot and inevitably starts to simmer, and then to glow. Glow is good. Glow is awesome. Then glow must be stopped and so there is no more fire. Finally 4) The sparks fly again and fire must burn bright and this time, it simmers forever.
I enjoyed the change of scenery to Vermont. I really enjoyed the change to have Morgan be a bartender. Even the villain was a good change.
But - and there's a but - there was something about Miles that didn't work for me, which also means that Miles and Morgan didn't really work for me. I don't think his character is fully developed and so while I can totally get behind Morgan and 'her ladies', there was just something about her relationship with Miles that felt lacking. I finished the book two days ago and cannot describe Miles - not even his hair color.
That being said, the story was good and flowed well. No real mystery to solve but a decent enough story that will take you away from your real life for a few hours - as a book should.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and give an honest review of this book.
Morgan is an ambitious young woman. She works two jobs and has big plans for her life. Those plans start to disintegrate after she encounters a con man that also happens to be a serial killer. Morgan escapes the murderous fate of several young women that came before her. However, everything she owns, her home, her accounts and her credit reputation are destroyed.
She moves back with her grandmother and mother, successful businesswomen in their own right, in an attempt to start her life over again. The serial killer hasn’t forgotten Morgan and as he decompensates, he blames her for all of his problems and mistakes. His plan is eventually to find her and end her life.
Meanwhile, Morgan builds on her successes and has become quite happy with her present life, job, and relationships.
This book is generally women’s fiction with a thriller twist. If you like books where the female character is strong and able to defend herself successfully, this book is for you.

Nina was an army brat traveling with her parents and then her mother after their divorce.
Nina’s tired of that lifestyles and wants to put down roots for herself.
She’s finished college, has her own business and now has the perfect home.
Until it all ends.
Nina never saw it coming
Now she has to flee.
This is another nail biter by Ms. Roberts that will keep you reading late into the night.
Thank you #NetGalley for this ARC

I have been reading Nora Roberts for YEARS and was thrilled to get an ARC of the latest stand-alone. As time has gone by my certainly prefer her stand-alones vs trilogies that get more into witchcraft/Ireland, etc.
Morgan is a former Army brat that is just looking to settle down in one place and live a simple life. One day while working she meets Luke, how is in from out of town. They start talking and over the course of a month or go on a date. He eventually steals her identity, ruins her credit and takes tons of loans out in her name. He has done this to several others, but they are all dead. She is the one who got away.
After these events unfold she decides to move to VT to be with her mother and grandmother. While settling in she starts working at the vacation resort in town and falls in love. At the same time "Luke" is still trying to tie up the loose ends.
This was a very suspensive read. The romance factor is there, but no heat. It was still a great read!
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC! These are my own thoughts and words!

Full disclosure. I never miss a new Nora Roberts or JD Robb book. Even though she writes in different genres, paranormal romantic suspense, contemporary romance, futuristic romantic suspense, and contemporary romantic suspense, the books are always wonderful. Identity is not an exception. The story introduces us to Morgan Albright, independently putting down roots she didn't have in childhood and following her game plan to own her own bar. Along the way, she casually dates a charming man who turns into her worst nightmare. He is actually Gavin, a serial killer who studies a female victim to drain their bank accounts, steal their identity to steal more money, and then take their life. After Morgan is targeted, her life in financial ruin and her best friend killed for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, She returns to live with her mother and grandmother in a picturesque town in Vermont and lands a job managing the bar at a resort. The resort is run by three generations of the Jameson family including the brooding oldest grandson, Miles. As the story progresses, Morgan mends her relationship with her family while opening herself up to a future in Vermont with Miles all while Gavin is focused on revenge towards Morgan as the one who got away and broke his luck.
The book is full of relatable, strong yet vulnerable characters with whom you want to become best friends and you'll miss when the book ends. Roberts describes the town and relationships, both romantic and familial, with vibrant prose complete with witty dialogue and language that make even the routines of bartending interesting. The weakest part of the tale was the antagonist, Gavin, who was written fairly one dimensional especially for a psychopath. Still I stayed up late to finish the book which caused me to be exhausted at work the next day. Well worth it! I wish it wasn't a stand alone novel so I could revisit the characters in a trilogy. Thanks to Net Gallery and St. Martin's Press for an advanced reading copy.

Story line kept moving in a way you did not want to put the book down. Nora has a way of getting you invested in each character. Loved the ending

Being picked to read a Nora Robert's novel is a dream come true for this book blogger! My first "big adult" read when I was a teenager was Nora Roberts. I have read her whole collection including J.D. Robb. There is just something about a Nora novel and a dream come true would be to meet her in person one day. The first sentence usually just hooks you and the settings have always been a huge part of why I have loved her books.
That being said, the last four-5 books I have felt like something is missing. The slow simmering burn of romance seems to be missing and the story seems to fizzle about halfway. I enjoyed the beginning of Identity and then Miles and Morgan's romance just didn't click for me. The ending picked up and I was engrossed in the cat and mouse chase with the killer. But at the end I wasn't clutching this book to my chest like other's in the past and being sad that I had left that world.
I hope for an amazing book launch for Identity as I'm sure it will be another hit! I just wanted a bit more out of this one.
Sincerely,
-A very loyal Nora Roberts fan who is sad to leave a somewhat lackluster review

Really enjoyed this Thriller/Romance from Nora Roberts. She writes amazing full stories that aren't rushed and incorporate so much life in them. Highly recommend if you enjoy:
- serial killers trying to chase the one that got away
- romance during a difficult time
- strong family connections
Thoroughly enjoyed the suspense and romance aspects of this book as Morgan tries to rebuild her life after "Luke" steals her identity and life savings. Parts dragged in the middle since it takes place over the course of 2 years, however, still a great read overall.

I love love love all Nora Roberts books. I don't know why but the way she writes is so down to earth that I just feel super connected to them from page one. I find myself crying, laughing and rooting for the main characters.
Morgan was such a brave and inspiring woman working through life to make family with herself. The premises of the killer stealing her identity and all her hard earned money was so frustrating and scary. It kept me on the edge of my seat while reading.
I love that she moves to the small town VT. The small town VT atmosphere was perfect as she grows and rebuilds her life even as the bad guy keeps trying to bring her down. I loved the whole resort family. I love the romance with how clean and easy they fell in love with each other. Their communication and interactions were just so wonderful.
This is a quick lite thriller, easy romance that has wonderful family dynamics and a perfect small town. I know this isn't a series but I would have loved more of this whole town. It was a beautiful place and a wonderful story.

Love love love
This maybe my favorite Nora Roberts book.
The main character, Morgan, is amazing. How she came back from devastation is amazing. I loved her relationship with “her ladies” her mom and grandma and how those grew throughout the book. The whole Jameson family was incredible. I would love to read more about Nell and Jakes romance.
The serial killer/identity thief was original. I haven’t read a book with those both of those combined.
Incredible. I read it in less than 24 hours cause I couldn’t put it down

Nora Roberts will forever and always be the “Queen of Romance” to me. Hers was the very first romance book I picked up as a teenager, and she hits them out of the park EVERY single time and Identity is absolutely not an exception. Morgan Albright has never had roots, being an army brat and all, and she’s finally making plans and settling into her home in suburban Baltimore. She has dreams and is working hard to make those become a reality, when a smooth talking bar patron comes in and convinces her to go on a date — little does she know that he’s a psychopath and targets women for financial gain and then murders them — only Morgan got away after her roommate was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Left in financial ruin, Morgan sells everything and packs up to head home to her Grandmother and Mother (shout out to Olivia and Audrey) and try to start over, plant her roots, and meets Miles (swooning) in the process.
All of the relationships in this book are absolutely phenomenal. The dynamic Morgan has with her grandmother and mother made me want to be adopted into their family – the Nash women rock! Heaven help the SLOW BURN!!! Lord, where can I find myself a Miles Jameson? Ughhhhhh how Nora Roberts gets me to fall in love with all of her male main characters I will never understand, and also root for the FMC like they’re my best friend and I want absolutely nothing but the best for them.
Just do yourself a favor and pick this one up right now, don’t add it to your TBR, you’re going to want to read it right away!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided to me through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to Nora Roberts and St. Martin’s Press for giving me the opportunity to read this book!

I adore Nora Roberts, and I adore her novels- the stand alones and the trilogies. This stand alone novel was so, so good! Great characters, perfect settings, beautiful descriptions- and a very tense thread that ran from the beginning all the way to the end. Very, very good! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

Nora Roberts is just a great writer. She knows what she is doing and she delivers every time.
This book displays all that this author has developed during her long career writing these types of novels. She displays her excellent research and interests while developing an engaging plot that is not an easy one to put down.
I enjoyed this book very much, it has been a while since I picked up a Nora Roberts stand-alone and I was not disappointed.
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for providing an advanced copy of this book for review.

I have yet to read a book by Nora Roberts that I didn't love. This book had romance, suspense and the importance of family. The description of characters made me able to envision them. I enjoyed reading this book!

Identity by Nora Roberts grabbed me from page one and would not let me go until Its conclusion had been reached.
This Book is perfect if you like
-Strong Female characters
-Romantic Suspense
-Identity theft as a core plot element.
I will be buying a physical copy of this book the moment it is available and recommending it to anyone looking for a good read for the summer.

One of the best books that I had the privilege to read an advanced copy of is Identity by Nora Roberts. Morgan plants roots in a small town. She works two jobs and has someone rent one of her rooms so that she can someday own her own bar. One day, “Luke” comes into the bar where Morgan works. Morgan decides to take a chance on him when he asks her out. Unfortunately, Morgan is not aware of who Luke really is and what he does. When Luke breaks into Morgan’s home, to try and steal her identity, her roommate, Nina is there. Luke had planned on killing Morgan but ended up killing Nina instead. Two feds show up and explain to Morgan that “Luke” was probably planning on killing Morgan but Nina got in the way. Unfortunately, he did not only kill Morgan’s roommate but stole Morgan’s identity as well. As Morgan loses everything she has, she has no choice but to go back home and live with her mother and grandmother. She begins to settle into the town, get a job, and form new friendships. However, while Morgan is settling into her new life, she is still looking over her shoulder because Luke will probably come back to finish what he started.
Identity is one of the best books written by Nora Roberts that I have read. The story is very suspenseful and romantic. I am sure that I will be reading this one again!

📖 About: Morgan Albright was raised an Army brat, constantly moving from one place to the next. As an adult, she is desperate for some roots. After years of working two jobs, Morgan buys her first home and plants those roots near Baltimore. Things are panning out just as Morgan imagined. Though she's single, she has her best friend / roommate Nina, enjoys her jobs, and is having fun fixing up her house.
Things come crashing down after she's taken for everything she has by a serial killer / con man. He takes her identity, her credit, her savings, her home, and plans to take her life.... but he murders her best friend instead (who was in the wrong place at the wrong time).
Distraught and defeated, Morgan reluctantly goes home to her grandmother and mother, and starts over. Here she begins rebuilding her life, and finds happiness, love, community and a strengthened relationship with the women in her family. But the killer is still out there, and Morgan is the one who got away. He's determined to finish what he started, and will stop at nothing to do it.
💭 Thoughts: Identity is a quintessential Nora Roberts romantic suspense, and I loved every second of it! 🎉
I have been reading Nora longer than any other author, have read almost everything she's written (which is a LOT), and she never gets old!
Her character development is unparalleled, and she weaves a perfect combination of mystery / thriller / romance.
Identity pulled me in immediately, and I devoured it in two days. Completely captivated! I read along with the audiobook, narrated by one of my favorite narrators: January Lavoy. January performed this beautifully, with the perfect voices for each of the characters (and there are a LOT of characters). Just a stellar performance from start to finish. 👏🏻
My favorite thing about Nora Roberts novels - and this one was no different - is the strong women she writes. From Grandma to Mom to Daughter. They're all so strong and capable, and I love their relationships with one another; how they support one another. I also love the way she builds community, and the found family component that's so prevalent in her novels.
This was just fantastic and I'm so grateful to my #partners St Martin's and Macmillan Audio for my gifted copies. 💕💕💕
I will be posting my review on my Instagram account closer to pub day.
