⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 I haven’t been a fan of Nora Robert’s latest novels. They have been missing the spark that so many of her books in her backlist have. Many of which are 5 star reads for me. But that changed with Identity. It had romance, suspense, a bad guy that we know (but surprisingly didn’t detract from the suspense) who is after Morgan again.

I liked the connection between Morgan and Miles. Miles doesn’t try to take over or save the day. He stands up for her, stands by her, and at the end of the day, lets her hold her own.

Thanks to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the ARC.

Nora Roberts does it again! I haven’t read one of her books in a while and Identity was a reminder of why she’s such a popular author of romantic suspense.

This book features a serial killer who presents as very smooth and who has the computer skills to steal his victim's identity (he pinpoints women with androgynous names like Morgan), drain their bank accounts, take over their property deeds, etc. Very scary because this sounds so realistic.

Identity grabbed me right from the start and I kept finding reasons to keep reading/listening. Even though the book is fairly long at 437 pages (or 15 hours of audio), it never felt long.

Some of the themes include family, both “actual” family and found family; starting over when you think you’ve hit rock-bottom; finding your inner strength. AND that women should seriously consider taking self-defense classes!

The characters in this book were well-drawn and definitely not stereotypes. I absolutely loved Morgan’s mother and grandmother, along with all the members of the Jameson family.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read an advance readers copy of this book, although I was rather late to it. I bounced between the ARC and the published audiobook (from Macmillan Audio), courtesy of my public library. The narrator, January LaVoy, did a superb job with the many voices. I truly don’t know how she manages to make the male voices so believable!

Nora Roberts explores the nature of Identity when Morgan Albright meets an IT man with a winning personality; what she doesn't know is that he is a sociopath serial murderer who romances women, takes their money and kills them. Luke murders her best friend who is at her home in the wrong place at the wrong time. Two FBI agents give Morgan the bad news and she discovers Luke has taken all her money as well. As she reestablishes her life back with her family, she finds out that the psychopath is not done with her. Beautifully written.

I do not know why I waited so long to read this one! Nora Roberts grabbed me from page one and kept me intrigued throughout the whole novel. I loved the strong female lead characters, the cat and mouse chase, and the themes of strongwomen, family, and survival. Make sure you grab this one!

This was a fine 'thriller' if thats what we want to call it. Its very predictable and simple. The writting is good and I liked the characters, the small town is a cute setting.

It was like enjoying two stories simultaneously. Morgan lives a quiet life until she crosses paths with the wrong man. She was his target and her will not rest until she's dead.

Nora has managed to successfully make me scare for what you would think are normal situations. How easy it is for someone to attack in the some unconventional ways. This man completely destroys these women's lives than kills them.
I am thoroughly terrified and I think that's the point. The book had me on edge the whole way but the love story was great and beautiful

As per usual was a beautiful and scary at the same time

Morgan Albright has a life plan. She wants to own her own bar someday, put roots down and have a nice house along with someone to share it with. She has bought a small house that could use some repairs, but she has a roommate to help with the costs, along with working two jobs to someday fulfill her dream. One day she comes home from work to find her roommate dead and someone has stolen her identity. After losing everything, she decides to move home to live with her Mom and Grandmother. Little does she know, this is where all her dreams could come true. If the killer doesn't find her.

A great, fast-paced thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Wonderful characters and plot to the story. I haven't read Ms. Robert's for awhile, but this book has me wanting to read more.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in return for my honest review.

Important subject matter and pretty relevant to current times - stolen identity.

I really enjoyed the unfolding of how it happened and what the MC did to move forward.

Beyond that, the rest of the story was a bit sketchy. NR does far fetched storylines and that’s fine, but this was so close to reality that when it slipped into the far fetched, it was just to much for me.

And this book needed some editing.

NR is hit or miss for me lately. This is a just right on the fence read. Just ok I think is what I would rate this.

Wow, do I have some catching up to do. This was surprisingly my first Nora Roberts book and absolutely will not be the last. It was so wonderful, not just the plot but the character development. I wanted to know the people, to live in this small Vermont town, to be Morgan's friend, and to spend time with the Nash ladies.

This was such a great story. I was totally engrossed all the all the way from start to finish. I loved everything about this book. The romance was beautiful, and the suspense was masterfully done. A must-read!

Now, please excuse me while I make up for lost time and read everything she's written.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Another great romantic suspense by Nora Roberts. I loved the determination of the main character. She faced so much devastation but never gave up, even when a serial killer was on the lose, and she was his target. Her personality was witty throughout.

3.5 ★

Identity by Nora Roberts is a solid suspenseful romance. I felt a little thrown off by the beginning because it reads really fast as if you are being given an overview of the story. After about 20%, the writing settles, focuses on a slowed down present time frame and gave me time to truly get to know the characters and enjoy them each as their own. I enjoyed the changing perspectives and the strong family relations. Miles definitely stole the show and in my opinion, is the perfect match for Morgan - their relationship is everything. While I enjoyed the overall story line and felt literal goosebumps with Gavin, I was disappointed by the ending. I read so much only to have it all wrapped up in a few pages. Done, just like that. To me, the ending deserved a little more attention.

Overall, my second Nora Roberts read and has me intrigued to read more of her Suspenseful Romance. Happy Reading!.

I received a book from Netgalley for an honest review. This is an enthralling story rich in details that only add to the feeling that you’re there. Nora Roberts tells an epic tale about a woman whose identity is stolen and in the process her best friend is killed. The suave Casanova took her friend, her house, her money and now he’s coming for her.. Morgan isn’t his first victim but the only one who has lived. He hates to fail. She was supposed to die. The tension as he plots and plans his revenge is the reason I couldn’t put this book down. I highly recommend this book but be sure you don’t mind reading until the wee hours!

Identity is a book that has some aspects that people today deal with often, identity theft. This book takes it one step further when the person perpetrating the identity theft, also kills his victims, unless they get away.

Wow, this was quite a ride. First the identity theft issue was one that I am always worried about and is easy to relate to, but the killer was a different issue. I loved Morgan. She was a strong, independent woman who almost fell apart totally, but with the help of her "ladies" she comes back into her own. I was rooting for her to find her footing and become the independent person she was at the beginning. As she began her new life with her family, the serial killer was always in the background adding suspense to the story. Gavin was a well written character, smart, a skilled hacker and tricky enough that he could slip in and out without anyone the wiser. He was definitely one you loved to hate. Of course when he is foiled, he loses focus and allows the FBI to get closer to him. I loved the owners of the resort and their family where Morgan ends up working. She fits right in and helps them add to their customer base with great ideas. Romance is in the works with the grandson of one of the owners and I really liked that relationship. Overall, this was a well crafted story with great characters, a tense and suspenseful storyline, a romance that I was rooting for and family that support one another from beginning to end. The last part of the book had me on the edge of my seat and I smiled to myself as the story ended. January LaVoy is one of my favourite narrators, so when I saw she was narrating this one, I didn't hesitate to get a copy to listen to. She gives great voices to the various characters and adds just the right amount of expression and emotion to get me totally immersed in the story. Yes, it is a bit long, but I loved every bit of it. If you enjoy romantic suspense, family relationships, personal growth, dreams all tied together with some twists and thrills, then don't hesitate to pick up Identity in any format.

Imagine the horror of your identity being stolen and all that entails. And that isn't even the worst thing that has happened to Morgan!

After her ordeal, Morgan returns home to live with her mother and grandmother and try to start over. She is lost and her heart is broken. She finds a job running a bar at a local resort. And the Jameson family, who owns the resort, becomes like a second family.

I adored Morgan. She was strong and resilient. I loved her connection with Miles. And how she handled the FBI chase of trying to find the man who stole her identity.

This was a perfect romantic suspense.

Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an ARC in exchange for my honest review!

I used to read a lot of Nora Roberts back in the day before I found her In Death series and I wasn’t disappointed by Identity. What I really enjoyed about this one was that it was much more of a thriller than a romance.

I liked the first part as we got to know Morgan and her daily life with her roommate and closest friend Nina. We learned about her hopes and dreams and I even got excited when I thought she had the start of a relationship. Following Nina’s tragic death, Morgan goes home to Vermont to pick up the broken pieces of her life. Things did slow down quite a bit here for me as we got used to Morgan’s new routine and now the fear that a serial killer was after her. Some scenes felt much too repetitive and it did take some of my enjoyment away.

Her slow but budding romance with Miles was another thing I liked. I thought they were both compatible in a Yin and Yang sort of way and I enjoyed watching the growth and learning about both their families.

Luke/Gavin was such a disturbing man and this was portrayed quite well. I found myself disgusted during his chapters but I kept reading because I had to know what happened next.

Aside from some pacing in the second part, I quite liked the book as a whole. I thought the ending wrapped up beautifully and the showdown was fantastic. Identity reminded me of The Liar which is one of my favorites by Nora Roberts as that one also deals with loss as well building your life back together step by step.
A huge thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for a copy the book in exchange for my review!

Nora Roberts has done it again! Imagine putting yourself out there and finding a good guy. Then you come home from work and find your house broken into and your roommate and friend brutally murdered! Turns out your new beau wasn’t so great. To top it all off it seems he’s stolen your savings and identity! You move back home with your mom and grandmother to try and pick up the pieces of your life, but it seems someone isn’t happy that you were the. ‘One that got away’.
A wonderful read as usual and you’ll have to read it for yourself to find out what happens!

A classic Nora Robert's story with chilling characters and motives. I love her writing. The thrill of the story mixed in with just a little bit of romance.
