I love a good essay collection! I wasn’t super familiar with the author but learned after reading that he’s a comedian & that totally tracks- this was a super amusing read. I think, give that, I would recommend the audio book to other readers looking to pick this up!
Thank you so much St Martins press for the complimentary copy!

This is a DNF for me. The tone was not to my liking. and I opted to put it down for something better.

I went into this with an open mind not really knowing what to expect. I don’t really know who Tom Papa is other than he is a comedian. So why not.
The book is made up of several essays or short stories about his life. Some of them are quite funny and made me laugh, others were just ho-hum. Honestly, it was one of those books that I wasn’t excited to return to while reading. But I powered through. Not a bad book by any means, just so-so in my opinion.

I stepped out of my comfort zone to read We're All in This Together by Tom Papa as I don't normally read any comedy (I'd rather watch it). So I found it to be entertaining but not my favorite. If you enjoy comedy sketches, this is definitely up your alley. There are 37 in total such as:
–Love for Your First Car (“To Buy or Lease”)
–The Truth about Personal Hygiene (“How You Know When It’s Time to Go”)
–Date Nights (“Will You Go Out with Me?”)
–Unfamiliar Hotel Rooms (“Why Nothing Works”)
–Pets (“Cats–Ancient Menace”)
–Drinking (“There’s no Cure for a Hangover”)
–Ducking your Family, even Though you Love Them (“The Lesson of Mark Twain’s Cigars”)
So it was fun at times but I don't see myself reading this again.

Many thanks to the publisher for my copy - all opinions are my own.
I just love well done essay books like this, that work so well as a palate cleanser for me between thrillers. These easy to read, laugh out loud funny, honest and well written chapters had me reaching for this book over and over again. Truly enjoyable and perfect for easy summer reading!

When I read this book, I could hear his voice in my head saying the words. Haha! I love his comedy style, and this book read like his routines put to the page. If you're a fan, you will enjoy his outlook and comments on life. It was a great departure from a lot of the somber things I read.
Thank you to NetGalley for the free digital ARC. All opinions are my own.

If you are a fan of Tom Papa's stand-up comedy and observational humor, then you already know that his books will keep you laughing as you turn the pages. "We're All In This Together...So Make Some Room" delivers the funny through a variety of essays that are frankly quite perfect. Perfect because they are relatable to all readers, and they will find lots of fun topics in these 37 essays. From drinking, to travel, to family, to Las Vegas, Papa's storytelling and honesty shines through with every section. And if you know his work, you'll read this collection in his voice, adding to the experience. There's a lot of things in the world right now to make you frown, but this book made me smile, chuckle, and realize that I am not that much different from most people on a lot of things. Thank you Tom Papa for giving a platform to the inner voice we all have.

I liked the tone of this book. The author was engaging without being preachy. I liked the length of the chapters and that the message could be adapted to any time frame. I would recommend this book.

He’s always funny and enjoyable. Light hearted and fun read. Love his stand up routines. Can’t go wrong.

The author does a good job of bringing humor into a variety of aspects of life. However, there were no moments when I found myself laughing out loud. A smile might tug at the corners of my mouth, but I wanted something that would cause an intense belly laugh. So, for me, this fell short of my expectations. However, the typical reader may appreciate the essays and the peeks into his life.

I received an ecopy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher for an honest review. This did not affect my rating. 3.5 rounded down to 3.
This is a collection of essays from Tom Papa that can be read individually, making it easy to put down and forget about. I did laugh at times, but not as much as I expected. There were several essays that had me laughing aloud and explaining stuff to my other half, but some didn't even have me chuckling. Surviving Childhood was one that had me laughing.
When finished, my other half said maybe the audiobook would have been better since he is a comedian and would have had timing etc on his side versus me reading. He may very well be right. Either way, I am staying with the rounded down 3 and maybe I will check out from the library as an audiobook someday.

This book is made up of several essays and is to be humorous.... I found the book okay... just okay.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and St. Martin's Press for providing me with an ARC copy.

I had never heard of Tom Pappa before this book. I am so grateful to receive a copy of this one and be introduced. I loved his antics throughout this story. It was haha funny at times and other times had me laughing out loud.
A quick, fun read for anytime that you need a laugh or something different.

I really thought I was going to like this one because I enjoy Papa's reminiscing, observational style of comedy. However, I ended up giving up on it on the first try and frankly barely skimming it on the second read. Turns out that what's pleasant in person is a tad boring on the page. Papa's observational style works because he breathes life into it as he's talking about it, he has a conversation with the audience even if he's the only one talking. That did not translate onto the page, so what should be things I can relate to or find fascinating are just things that feel like I've heard/read them before.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the read!

We’re All In This Together: So Make Some Room is a compilation of Tom Papa’s unfiltered thoughts. Spanning from pure absurdity to true romanticism, Papa relays life lessons he has gathered thus far.
If I am being honest, prior to reading/ listening to this book, I had never heard of Tom Papa. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed his humor. He is perfect for fans of clean comedy.
This was a quick, entertaining read/ listen. I personally preferred the audiobook as it is narrated by Tom himself, but both formats were great.
Special thanks to Netgalley, Macmillan Audio, St. Martin’s Press, and Tom Papa for allowing me to read and listen to this book in exchange for my honest feedback.

If you want a funny, insightful and feel good book, this is it. I had to read it in spurts as each chapter was like a stand up routine. I enjoyed it, found humor and validation in it as well.

This is a book of seven essays by Tom Papa that will have you laughing. They include essays such as Love for your first car, Unfamiliar Hotel Rooms, and Drinking. It's a very entertaining book. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for an ARC.

This was a wonderful and powerful read! The topics range from comedy to autobiography to what you could potentially call motivational speech. It was a fun book that felt more like a conversation.

I did not know anything about Tom Papa. I don’t remember why I requested this book. When I began it, sitting in a waiting room at a Drs. Office, I sensed that he was an observant person, both of his surroundings and of human nature. And then I got to this sentence:
“Walk the streets of Rome and you can literally see how they lived, through the remnants of theaters, churches and walkways that were never removed. Sit by the sea in Beirut and you’ll be perched on the same rocks that provided respite for people before the time of Jesus. Walk into a condo next to a strip mall in Jacksonville, Florida, and you won’t feel anything at all.”
. . .And I burst out laughing. Having traversed the streets in Rome, sat beside the Mediterranean, and resided in Jacksonville for the last 22-years, this comparison was hilarious.
Then I was hooked. I loved Tom Papa’s comments on life, on family, on drinking, on diets and hotel rooms and cats. He is truly an enjoyable entertainer and a good writer. These thirty-seven essays were delightful.
MY thanks to NetGalley and St Martin’s Press for an advanced copy of this book. My opinions are my own.

I requested this book because many years ago I had seen Papa perform, and I still remember how good he was. In the meantime, he has had an impressive career in standup, on TV, and as an author. Papa is a New Jersey boy at heart—though I think he may have abandoned us for California—but his love of the state is evident in many of these essays. For me, it was a fun romp through many familiar places. I liked the nostalgic stories of his childhood and the more personal stories about his life with his wife and kids more than the ones where he addresses the reader directly with advice. As corny as it sounds, I preferred the comedian when he didn't try so hard for the laugh, but instead, showed more of his heart.
