Thank you to Goodreads and the publisher for allowing me to listen to this book for an honest review.

Full disclosure that I did not realize this was a Hallmark Publishing book when I picked it up. Knowing that, this is a very nice, very sweet book for those readers who like that. I did cackle when I realized that the prince was named Nick and his grandfather was Noel. Really hit us over the head with it why don’t ya!

If you’re in the mood for a light and fluffy royal Christmas romance store then look no further!

A Colorado woman who works as a Snowflake Party Princess wins a contest for a foreign nation during the Christmas season, leading her on an adventure with her best friend and colleague to visit this royal kingdom during their Christmas festival. Little does she expect to meet a handsome stranger on her first day there who makes her feel more seen and more joyful than she has in sometime. This leads to a series of fun Christmas adventures and misunderstandings along the way as she gets to know the royal family and in particular, the handsome although frosty crown prince.

This was just the sweet Hallmark story to make my night! The audiobook narrator did a great job with this dual POV story. Many thanks to NetGalley and Hallmark for an advanced copy of this story. All thoughts are my own.

Royal romances are my catnip! I was so excited when I saw this on NetGalley.

I don’t generally read clean/closed door romances on purpose but Teri Wilson is the exception to the rule.

Her books are always so funny and sweet. This was a really quick listen and I absolutely loved the narrator.

I definitely recommend this if you want something really cute and frothy.

I received a copy of this audiobook from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

TLDR: cute, but I’d rather just watch the movie

This was everything you expect in a cheesy Hallmark movie, nothing more and nothing less. Girl experiences loss, girl takes a trip, girl meets obnoxious prince, forbidden love leads to happily ever after. Although I would say that the dialogue was much snappier than it would have been in a movie. The main thing that I didn’t like was that there really wasn’t an antagonist. Normally, Hallmark will include a jealous ex-girlfriend, a nasty boss, something for the main character to persevere through. Other than her self doubt, there weren’t any obstacles she actually had to overcome. It was a cute and fluffy way to spend time, but I would rather just watch the 2 hour movie versus an 8 hour audiobook. I would expect way more character development in a book, there is so much more space to set the scene, and that was lacking here. And a note on the narrator: I found how she voices the male love interest’s voice incredibly annoying and distracting. The accent she used was just weird. So yeah, good for all of the Chirstmassy vibes, but not worth the time in my opinion.

Teri Wilson has a habit of writing characters that you just have to like despite yourself. This book is the ultimate Hallmark fairy tale- so sweetly written, a story that pulls a reader right in, and makes an icy heart crack with the warmth and Christmas Cheer.

Gracie Clark created her own small business performing as Princess Snowflake and has a whole crew of other Princesses as well. Hoping to expand her business and better care for her employees, Gracie gets rejection after rejection -- until her business partner entered her in a contest to be the Christmas Princess of the town of San Glacera, and she is swept into a whirlwind of travel and Christmas events in a beautiful country that is Christmas come to life.

Meanwhile Prince Nicholas San Glacera needs a bit of an image rehab. His ex gave a less than flattering tell all interview that just won't go away, and to make matters worse, further tabloids love to lean into the rumors from the interview and ignore his philanthropic work. When his family tells him about the competition to bring a Christmas Princess to San Glacera, he is hesitant but goes with it. While covertly walking through the Christmas Market, he runs into an enchanting woman and spends the day with her and rediscovering his own Christmas spirit.

Both Gracie and Prince Nick explore the enjoyment of Christmas through helping and connecting with others, and bringing new and old traditions together. A cute read for the holidays.

In this Hallmark holiday hug of a story, Gracie Clark, a small business owner and party princess, finds herself in the small (fictional) European country of San Glacera. And what does one do in small European countries at Christmastime in a Hallmark story? Fall in love with a prince, of course.

This one is sweet and charming—a bit mistaken identity, a dollop of Beauty and the Beast, and a heavy pour of grumpy-sunshine vibes with base notes of a holiday royal romance.

Brittany Pressley is one of my favorite audiobook narrators, and her bubbly style embodies Gracie’s personality. She also captures Prince Nikolas’s formalities and walls as well as his softer side. I listened to the audiobook at 2x speed.

Once Upon a Royal Christmas is as cozy as a cup of hot cocoa. I recommend popping in earbuds and listening to it as you run holiday errands or bake Christmas cookies.

I received an advance copy of the audiobook from Dreamscape Media and NetGalley. All review opinions are my own.

This is the perfect sweet romance to kick off the Christmas season! I can absolutely see this on the hallmark channel being a movie. It was very predictable but once in a while you just need a sweet predictable type of story. I would recommend this to young adult romance.

I love Hallmark Christmas movies, the kickoff to the Countdown to Christmas is appointment viewing in my family. Once Upon a Royal totally delivered on the super wholesome holiday romance front.

Gracie AKA Princess Snowflake wants to expand her party princess business and can’t find a bank to finance her expansion. Prince Nikolas is the grumpy heir to the throne of San Glacera in need of a publicity makeover. When Gracie’s friend and business partner nominates her for a contest with a big cash prize, Gracie is swept away to San Glacera. Can she melt the icy crown prince’s heart and make all of her own dreams come true?

Once Upon a Royal Christmas was a super quick, fun read that totally got me in the holiday spirit. While it was a little predictable, I still enjoyed this book. If you love Christmas, travel, grumpy/sunshine, fake dating, puppies, and all the warm fuzzy feels this book is for you!

A fairly tale romance, a handsome prince and a princess "actor".

I liked the overall concept of this romance. Gracie needs money for her business, she enters a contest, she meets a grumpy prince fulfilling her contest duties, and falls for the prince. The story was cute as expected from a Hallmark romance, but I felt like the characters needed more depth. As a light Christmas book, this book filled that well since not a lot of thought was involved to follow along.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me a copy of this Audiobook for my honest review.

After all the twisty mysteries of the past week, I slid into this bit of fluff and thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was like being lost in a Hallmark movie and surrounded by a musical. Gracie, AKA Princess Snowflake, travels to San Glacera for a contest and when she mistakes her Prince Charming for the real Prince they are both enchanted. This starts the whirlwind few days of them being paired for all the goodness and she really perks up his overall likeness quotient with his people who think he is nothing but a grump. These two are perfection in hot cocoa and snowflakes.

For a Hallmark book, this one isn’t too bad. I’m not the type that watches Hallmark movies for the holidays but I understand that they can put people in a happy mood. They are usually pretty predictable but if you don’t mind that then it’s not too bad of a book.

🌀Synopsis
Gracie Clark runs a party business where she dresses up like Princess Snowflake to entertain children. The problem is money is tight and no one will give her the loan she needs to expand her business. Her business partner enters her into a contest with a grand prize that will be more than enough to expand and support the business.

Once she finds out she won she understands that in order to get the money she has to spend Christmas with the royal family. Upon arrival she is immediately taken by this charming place. The only problem is the prince, who has the reputation of being cold and distant.

The two keep running into each other and eventually Gracie gets to see his true colors. She is encouraged by him and he helps her to believe in herself again.

Once Upon A Royal Christmas by Teri Wilson is just the cutest, sweetest, and most adorable book. This was like listening to a Hallmark Christmas movie, one that I loved. Gracie lives in America and plays a storybook princess at children's parties. Her best friend enters her into a contest intended to spruce up the tourism of San Glacera and the image of the prince. Prince Nick is handsome, but pretty stuffy and not fun at all. In complete contrast, Gracie is kind and enthralling. She ends up winning the contest to spend Christmas in San Glacera and perform in their winter spectacular. I love all things royal so this book just spoke to me as soon as I read the description. The story has it all, a charming small country done up for the holidays, a stunning castle, a loving family, and a possible royal romance.

A wonderful fairytale for adults!
I listened to the audiobook version of this book narrated by Brittany Pressley. Quickly becoming one of the best in book narration Brittany Pressley did an amazing job! Voice changes between characters was flawless, pronunciation, and emotion were on point. She was a perfect choice for this book.
I loved everything about this book. This exceptional story is a dream come true for our inner princess. Although Gracie is no ordinary princess. This thrust her into a far away Kingdom as a contest winner. And the fairytale begins….

Knew this would be a great story because it was Hallmark but it was more than expected. It was fresh and uplifting, spunky and the stuff dreams are made of. Great characters, story and awkward circumstances overcome. What a refreshing read.

Once Upon a Royal Christmas by Teri Wilson
Hallmark Christmas publication. Contemporary romance.
Princess Snowflake, aka Gracie Clark, needs a business loan but the bank doesn’t see the viability of party planning. So Gracie and Clara travel to San Glacera for the Royal Winter Wonderland event, with Gracie performing as Princess Snowflake to win a $30,000 prize. San Glacera has their own Prince and Royal Palace and hope Princess Snowflake will boost their tourism.

Adorable holiday story with the prince and princess falling in love, a charming King Charles spaniel named Mittens and a surprise puppy. Princess Snowflake charms all the kingdom’s children as well as it’s Prince. The love story is a bit bumpy and sweet and touching.

I read an ebook copy of the story first and appreciated the chapter titles and the sentimentality.

🎧 I listened (2nd reading) to an audiobook copy narrated by Brittany Pressley who performed with the drama, passion, and joy I expect from a Hallmark story. The audiobook narrator excelled at the humor and emotions of Gracie while also keeping pace with the worry of Nick for his homeland. I listened to the story at 1.3 which matched conversational speed.

Bonus: Royal Hot Chocolate recipe at the end after a short epilogue.
4.5

I received a copy of this from NetGalley, Hallmark Publishers and Dreamscape Media.

“She pretends to be a princess at children’s parties.
But can she melt a real prince’s frosty heart?“

I have a special place in my heart for Hallmark Christmas stories.

It’s not that I’m blind to their shortfalls, I’m just more likely to make allowances, because of The Christmas Spirit (read: spiked eggnog), or whatever.

For instance, while I know that there is zero percent chance reigning monarchs and the fruit of their royal loins, would walk, without the benefit of a security detail &/or Pope Mobile, amongst the people, I’ll allow it.

How else will they enjoy a carriage ride, and be able to give out candy canes to deserving street urchins?

I know that no one in their right mind would donate $30k to a dog rescue, particularly when the heir apparent is RIGHT THERE with all his INHERITED WEALTH, but how else will we know that the heroine is kind and generous and LOVES ALL THE PUPPIES?

All in all, the story was super-charming.

Grumpy Sunshine has always been a favourite trope. Throw in some Enemies to Lovers, and dashes each of Forced Proximity and Impossible Love, and I’m first in line.

7.5/10

Thanks to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and Hallmark Publishing for this holly jolly ARC.
