Tenth in the Lighthouse Library Mystery Books
Librarian Lucy Richardson and Connor O'Neal are enjoying their wedding reception
with family and friends at the Ocean Side Hotel. When they attend the breakfast
buffet the next day attended by the wedding guests, a body is discovered in a locked supply closet.
The man is identified as the wedding companion of Lucy's Aunt Joyce. To make
matters worse, another wedding guest has disappeared. As Lucy's honeymoon has been
delayed, she has time to investigate the murder and uncovers connections between the dead
man and others at the wedding. Unfortunately, the new detective in town disapproves of
Lucy's involvement of the case. Will she find the killer without endangering herself?
Love catching up with Lucy and friends - an entertaining read.

Death Knells and Wedding Bells, the tenth book in the Lighthouse Library Series by Eva Gates, was great fun. I admit to reading the first books several years ago and am happy to say this addition was worth picking up the series again. Lucy, the librarian, and Charles, the lighthouse cat, are still up for sleuthing, although Lucy’s recent wedding adds a new dimension. An entire cast of Outer Banks characters, including the book club, the library staff, and the unveiling of a murderer, make for an exciting story. This is a pleasure to read. Death Knells and Wedding Bells is for anyone who enjoys an authentic setting and characters who will become favorites.

I have read all of the books in this series and it is one of my favorite series. The events in this book take place after Lucy and Dinners wedding where the mystery appears to start. This mystery kept me guessing till the very end and I didn't guess who the killer was at all! I always enjoy following the adventures of the library workers and this time was no different. Theodore, Louise Jane, and Bertie were all enjoyable in this book along with Charles. I do wish the casually fat phobia had been left out ( only used to show how lazy people were). I didn't care that someone's buttons were to tight. I also wish we had gotten a little more cuddling between the newly weds! No reason they can't watch a sunset together and it fades to black. Even though I do think you could read this book as a stand alone, if you like it I highly suggest reading the previous books they help give more color to all the characters and there relationships. I received this copy from Netgallery for my honest review.

The big day has finally arrived for Lucy and Connor and everyone is excited about the beautiful event, Lucy's soon-to-be ex sister-in-law shows up with her new boy toy and creates a ruckus and her aunt's plus one is sullen and angry at the reception. The next morning Lucy receives a phone call from her boss Bertie James asking if she has seen Professor Eddie McClanahan her date. It seems he didn't make it home the night before. Lucy heads back to the hotel to look around only to discover a body stuffed in a housekeeping closet and Eddie nowhere to be found. Her search takes her Rodanthe, a tiny coastal town, where she finds Eddie oblivious to what is going on around him. Unfortunately the new detective in town has something to prove and he practically railroads Eddie. As Lucy begins to piece together the murder, she discovers the murderer is someone very close. Another suspenseful entry into this series.

In Nags Head, North Carolina, Lucy is enjoying her beautiful wedding to Connor at the Ocean Side Hotel. Next morning, her Aunt Joyce’s plus one is found dead in a closet at the hotel. Nobody really knows him, even Aunt Joyce had only known him for a brief time, but Lucy cannot let this mystery pass her by. Since her honeymoon trip is still a few weeks away, she embarks in an informal investigation that puts her in the path of the killer, who has been closer to her than she imagines.

This is a cozy mystery with an interesting premise. It is well written, and the pacing is more than appropriate. However, it took me a long time to read because I could not engage with the story or connect with the characters, most of which felt one-dimensional. There were no surprises for me, as I guessed the identity of the killer before Lucy did. I did enjoy Charles, the cat, and could also vividly imagine the library and Lucy’s home, thanks to the descriptions provided in the story. Overall, a three-star book for me that can appeal to those enjoying cozy mysteries, weddings, and a small dose of family drama.

Thanks to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for providing me with a free digital copy to review this book.

Thanks to NetGalley, Crooked Lane Books, and Eva Gates for the opportunity to read this book, which will come out in the summer of 2023. When I first requested this book, I didn't realize that it was part of a series. But no worries! I honestly had no moments when I felt lost or uninformed reading this one. It's a cozy mystery featuring amateur detective and librarian Lucy. The day after her wedding, something nefarious is discovered at the venue, and she can't help herself from trying to get to the bottom of it. This was a really enjoyable read, and I look forward to picking up more books in the series.

Death Knells and Wedding Bells is the tenth installment in the Lighthouse Library Mystery series set in Nags Head, North Carolina. I enjoy this wonderful series for the setting of a historic lighthouse converted to the town library. Lucy is the librarian and has quite a talent for solving the murders that plaque their small town on the Outer Banks. This is a fun installment as Lucy and Conner are married after their long engagement and courtship.

When a guest of her Aunt's causes havoc at the wedding reception no one is pleased he attended. He is last seen arguing with someone and turns up murdered. Lucy jumps into the investigation to clear her Aunt and find out what happened . Soon the red herrings and clues abound as Lucy finds herself in danger once again.

The setting is atmospheric and the reader is transported to the coastal area of North Carolina. This next in series has a exciting sleuth to conclusion . The characters are richly drawn to the culture of the area and all find growth and positive changes in this edition. i look forward to the next in series.

I really love this series and this book was very good. Lucy is the amateur sleuth in this series and she is really good at it and as usual she ends up in what could be a very dangerous situation. This murder occurs during the celebration of Lucy and Conner's wedding so naturally everyone there is a suspect until questioned. As usual, I never guess who did it until almost the end. A VERY GOOD COZY read.

The Lighthouse Library Mysteries is my favorite cozy series and Death Knells and Wedding Bells has great updates on the staff at the Lighthouse Library.
Lucy and Connor finally get married and everyone comes to the Outer Banks for the big event. Her Aunt Joyce is at the wedding and brings a new boyfriend who is found dead the next morning. For a New Yorker, we find out that many of the wedding guests have a connection to him and they are not good ones. Even as a newlywed, Lucy seeks to clear friends of murder, but to the dismay of a new detective.
I enjoyed Death Knells and Wedding Bells and all the characters were as delightful as always. I am giving it only four stars, though, as I was disappointed when Lucy went home alone knowing a murderer was after her. But, I will look forward to the next book in the series as Eva Gates is great at keeping characters' storylines progressing which many cozy series don't.
I received a complimentary copy of Death Knells and Wedding Bells, but all opinions are my own.

Another wonderful addition to the Lighthouse Library mysteries! Lucy and Connor have finally tied the knot at a magnificent wedding, where a guest is murdered. Thankfully it wasn’t anyone they knew well, but still, Lucy investigates to help her friends out. I especially liked the expanded roles of Lucy’s family, All in all, a good read.

Death Knells and Wedding Bells is the tenth installment in the Lighthouse Library Mystery series set in Nags Head, NC and featuring Bodie Island Lighthouse Librarian, Lucy Richardson (McNeil). It's Lucy and Connor's wedding day and the couple are surrounded by their friends and family and enjoying a wonderful evening, despite the family drama surrounding Lucy's ex-sister in law Kristen who has split from Lucy's brother and has the gall to attend the wedding and bring a plus one. Then, there's Lucy's Aunt Joyce the free spirit who has also brought a companion but nobody's sure if he's a paid escort or if they really are a couple.

The next day Lucy receives a call from her boss Bertie James, who inquires as to whether Lucy has seen her date Eddie McClanahan, the Greek and Latin professor. Eddie seems to have disappeared the night before and Bertie is worried. Eddie is a bit eccentric, so Lucy figures that he'll turn up soon. As the couple enjoys the post wedding brunch, Aunt Joyce announces that her date Wayne has also gone missing. A trip to the ladies room leads to the discovery of Wayne, dead and lodged in the housekeeping closet.

At the request of Bertie, Lucy and her friends set out to track down Eddie and clear his name. They quickly learn that more than one of the townspeople had a history with Wayne. Blackmail, a corrupt detective and a furry feline make for an entertaining afternoon read. I say this at the end of every book in the series, I wish I had a Lighthouse Library in my town.

I received an advanced copy of Death Knells and Wedding Bells from NetGalley via Crooked Lane Books. While not required to write a review, I am happy to offer my honest opinion.

Preparing for your wedding should be enough, but not for this librarian. There's a murder, of course, and one must get involved in the investigation.

I love this series and feel like I'm reading about friends now. The mystery was well done and did keep me guessing until the end (did not see the who-done-it). I thought the wedding would be more of the story, but did feel like it was well done. I'm already ready for the next book!

The 10th book in the Lighthouse library mystery series. And it's the one readers have been waiting for. The wedding of our favorite librarian. But of course Lucy and Connor's wedding doesn't go as planned when a dead body shows. I highly recommend reading this series in order. Otherwise your in for a lot of spoilers.

Another fun and captivating Lighthouse mystery. Everyone has looked forward to Lucy's wedding, and it was beautiful. Not exactly what Lucy herself wanted, but fun just the same. But, before the night is out there is a missing guest, oh and maybe a body too!
As always the characters are enjoyable, the plot is fun and flows smoothly, and the ending was great. I look forward to the next book.

Librarian Lucy’s wedding is nearly perfect—aside from a missing guest and the strangled body she finds. Now, she must vow to find the killer in this 10th Lighthouse Library mystery. This is such a fun series and I look forward every year to a new adventure with Lucy. This story was so entertaining and had a great ending. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced readers copy for review.

This is the first I have read in this series and was looking forward to it as I enjoy the 'cosy' mysteries. Unfortunately I was not impressed and nearly gave up on it. Very soon after the character appeared in the story I guessed he was the murderer. There is a lot of unnecessary descriptive narrative eg. instead of saying Lucy made a cup of tea we were told that the kettle was set to boil, that the teabag came from the pantry with a description of it's previous use (the pantry not the teabag), that the milk was taken out the fridge and only a little was use. Maybe if I had read the previous books I might have engaged more with the characters but I really didn't care who the murderer was. Lucy's behaviour after she realised who the murderer was, was totally irrational.
Despite being disappointed with the book I have rated it 3 stars rather than 2 as I did finish it.

It’s a happy time for Lucy and Connor as they gather friends and family to celebrate their marriage. While the majority of celebrants are happy, Lucy’s soon-to-be ex-sister-in-law Kristen and her date, and Lucy’s Aunt Joyce and her date aren’t having an enjoyable time and both of their dates drink too much. One guest definitely does not enjoy the reception as he ends up being discovered dead the next day, having been strangled and dumped in a closet. How does a out of town guest get killed at a wedding reception?

The prime suspect appears to be Bertie’s friend Eddie, a professor, with whom she has had a friendship/relationship with for many years. You know instantly that it will not be Eddie because he is an integral part of the group, but what a twist that would have been had he been the killer. I think if you pay attention to the clues, you will figure out the killer. I couldn’t figure out a motive and was surprised at the end to find out why. I don’t know how the killer thought he/she would get away with killing Lucy to cover his/her crime, but if you are that driven to kill, I guess you don’t think too clearly. I feel like Ms. Gates gave us plenty of suspects to muddy the water as to who the killer was.

I don’t know how Connor is going to survive Lucy solving crimes in the future. Each case seems to bring her closer to death. I love this group of friends and family and with they were my friends and family. I really wish I had a restaurant like Josie’s near me!

Thank you NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The tenth Lighthouse Library Mystery does not disappoint. Lucy and Connor have a lovely wedding, a guest comes up missing, and then while searching for him, Lucy finds another wedding guest strangled in a cleaning closet. All of the family and friends from previous books are present. This book fits like putting on your favorite PJs, slippers, and robe, making a pot of tea, and curling up with a book for the evening.
