I just loved reading this book! I did take a minute after the last two books in the series, because Savage's story with Seychelle did a number, but it was so great to be back in this world with these characters! Getting to know Master was so great!

For me, this book is just like Vendetta Road, where I started it, and couldn't put it down, because this woman who was just living her life, gets it upended by the bad guys, and the guy comes in to help her, yeah, it worked really well again in this book!

I really felt for the both of them. He's been the one sent to prisons, the only one who didn't get his record cleared, and he feels disposable, not as important as the other members. Her family got killed, and all because someone that they thought was a friend betrayed them, and it turns out the information was incorrect. It was so infuriating!

Watching the two of them together was so great! He's damaged, she's enraged, and together, they face each others' demons, and I really enjoyed watching them fall in love as everything was going on. And oh, the ending was just fantastic!

Loved reading this book, and I can't wait for whatever comes next!

Kir “Master” Visisliev, charter member of Torpedo Ink meets Ambriellle Moore over the bodies he killed rescuing her from Walker Thompson. Ambrielle didn’t know who they were or why they were there, only that they were killing the men who killed her parents and that put her on their side.

One of the most important memories of her mother was her certainty that Ambrielle would know her mate when she saw him. Over the blood and the bodies, with rage and vengeance blinding her she attacks Master, however when her feeble attempt fails she looks into his eyes, feels the awareness in her body and knows her mother was right and she just met her mate.

In true Feehan fashion the action is fast and furious, Master believes himself a throwaway and another trip to prison no matter how important will destroy him, only Ambrielle sees all the way to that secret and works throughout the story to give him the love he needs even as she struggles with her own trauma of seeing her parents murdered.

Ms. Feehan has sculpted another story of love at first sight that not many would believe could happen, what with all the battle side effects, however the way she tells of the sensations and the knowledge in the eyes of Master and Ambrielle is so beautifully expressed I was reminded of the day I first saw my husband…minus the bodies…

The Torpedo Ink crew comes through with humor and understanding learned from past mistakes and there were clues, at least to me, of future pairings. Can’t wait for the next story!

When it comes to dark and tormented, the Torpedo Ink series is the most intense one out of all of Ms. Feehan's series. Since I relish light to dark; sweet to pain and everything in between, I'm loving this series. Ms. Feehan's writing style and material she covers appeals to my darker side that craves the sharp edge of desperation. This book is showcases depression and how close to the end a person can tolerate.

Men are taught to be stoic. Kir's childhood is similar to all the other members in this motorcycle club, abusive to the nth degree. It is appalling what Kir went through and how it hones his skills to be used as a secret weapon. When a person has no reason to live, they are at their most dangerous because they do not give a f. They are a liability and it is becoming apparently that Kir may end up bringing down his brothers and sisters with his lack of will to live. This is sad because Kir's misinterpretation of a situation is what keeps him spiraling downwards.

I find this concept interesting and want to unpack it a bit. Specifically, does intent make a difference if the end result is the same? This is a different variation from ends justifies the means. Specifically, if we know the reason behind someone's request, does it make a difference in our mindset? I would argue yes. Which is why I spend a lot of my time explaining my intent so people can understand where I am coming from. For Kir, he is an ask no questions kind of guy and this ended up causing himself more harm.

Fortunately for Kir, he comes across Ambrielle Moore. She bursts into the book like the Kool-Aid guy. I am livid at what happens to her and I want so much to help her bring on justified vengeance. This book makes me feel so much between Kir and Ambrielle's loss. I revel in the brokenhearted state of mind generated by this book. The pain at times is overwhelming and I cry for how unfair life treats them. It is admirable how they come together and bring on the retribution. I love it. The sheer cold violence makes my heart race and I'm just as blood thirsty as they are. This book appeals to the darker side of humans when they realize nice guys may finish last. I recommend this book to readers who like anti-heroes and the vengeful women.

Loved and enjoyed this one. Master is a character I have wanted to understand better for a long time. This man truly would burn the world for Ambrielle, and she truly would do anything to make sure he knew he was worthy of everything he wants in life.
Truly excited to see where this goes in the overall plot.

Veena’s review of Recovery Road (Torpedo Ink, Book 8) by Christine Feehan
Contemporary Romance published by Berkley 24 Jan 23

This series holds an unwilling fascination for me. Every book I read I tell myself is the last, but then I come back for more because, despite the darkness, I’m now vested in the characters. Given the back story of group, darkness is a given, and yet this book is perhaps one of the best in the series as far as the story line: the gutsy heroine who will challenge all comers and a man who claws himself out of his darkness to embrace the light and love to the bottom of his heart.

Master is the numbers man of the club. He is also the only member who has a prison record and a reputation for going to jail to get information or assassinate as needed. Despite the closeness of the members, no one seems to realize the toll that it’s taking on Master, such that he is at the risk of drowning and losing himself.

Ambrielle, like Master, has the skill with numbers and investments. She has a happy life with loving parents and wonderful friends. When she and her parents become the target of a nasty gangster, and her parents are killed in front of her while she is being forced to marry at gunpoint, she embraces the darkness and teams up with Master and Torpedo Ink to seek vengeance.

As it turns out, Czar and his family are being targeted and the two investigations seem to be converging. It’s war, and Master might have to go undercover into a prison again to seek the information that is needed. Ambrie goes to bat for her man, even it means standing up to Czar. Thanks to Ambrie, Czar finally realizes how Master feels himself as expendable.

I really enjoyed how the story unfolded. Ambrie’s character is strong and she’s willing to battle on the side of right. I absolutely loved the sneaky tricks between the club and Sheriff Jackson. It adds a wonderful light touch to all the darkness that is such a large part of this series.

Grade: B

RECOVERY ROAD is the best book in Christine Feehan's Torpedo Ink series so far. They are all amazing but Master and Ambrie's story is the most gut-wrenching of them all. These are two people whose lives were nearly destroyed by greed and the avarice of other people, only to find someone who understands them and has their back

So I'm browsing through books on Netgalley and I'm in the mood for something motorcycle-club-ish -- you know the alpha guy with the heart of gold and a questionable conscience, plenty of action and lots of steamy sex. I saw Recovery Road and thought it might fit my mood. I have not read this author before, but I was familiar with the name, so I decided to take a chance that it would be able to standalone, since I had not read any of the others in the series and this was book #8. I'm happy to say this worked as a standalone since Master and Ambrielle's story was really the centerpiece of the tale.

Master is a pedophile-hunter and assassin. He has a very difficult background growing up in a Russian school where children were trained for pedophiles. Yuk. He has some issues with feeling he's not worthy so all he really has is the men and women in Torpedo Ink.They often send him back to prison to take care of their marks.

Ambrielle is an investment counselor who is seeking revenge on the traffikers who killed her parents. When Master and crew intervene during the murders, Ambrielle ends up marrying Master to save herself from the creep who ordered her parents dead.

There is some insta-attraction between Master and Ambrielle which grows into something rather nice, in spite of Master insisting he's a bad man who likes his sex hard and rough. And he's well-endowed of course! That being said, I did like these two together and my favorite pages were Master and Ambrie just talking to each other.

There's plenty of action from some of the Torpedo Ink enemies coming after them. I was able to follow this even though I hadn't read anything else in the series, so this did work as a standalone for me. While I wasn't all that invested in the enemies storyline, it did bring some nice action to the pages.

Overall, this is a story with plenty of action and hot times between two damaged people who find solace and love in each other. I liked that about it. There are other things I might comment on, like the fact that the storyline involving Ambrie's parents is wrapped up at 98% while the middle of the book sort of rambles around a bit. But this story was like a sweet snack that I just wanted to keep eating until the end of the book. I might be tempted to return to this series if I have the urge for a MC tale in the future.

Recovery Road is the eighth installment of Christine Feehan’s Torpedo Ink motorcycle club series and features Kir “Master” Vasiliev and investment banker/ kidnap victim Ambrielle Moore. Master has been in out and of prison his whole life and of the Torpedo Ink members the only one not given a clean slate when they moved to the U.S. Ambrie witnesses her parents murders and is taken hostage to marry their killer for her money. Master marries her instead and vows revenge for her.

This series has been hit or miss for me, this one was solidly middle of the road, there were things I enjoyed and places I felt lost.

What I liked:
Master is great. Feehan writes the best damaged hero that is trying to change for the woman he loves. Master is self aware enough to realize that he can’t go back to prison and the Ambrie deserves his trust and she can handle him. The sex is spot on too!
I loved the other characters - The Red Hat ladies, the pranks on Jackson and more of Blythe and Czar.

My struggle was with Ambrie. She is so strong, knows weapons, can put aside her emotions to work with Master but is just a bit too clingy and whiney. There are some parts of the story that I didn’t feel flowed and I kept thinking that I missed something.

Overall this book is the lightest of the series, but it’s still gritty, raw and dark. The club is abused as kids, so there are mentions of child abuse, sexual abuse, lots of violence but in comparison to the past books its lighter.

*I received an e-arc from Berkley Publishing Group and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Recovery Road has a publish date of January 24, 2023.

Ambrielle and Master's story is a great addition to the Torpedo Ink Series By Christine Feehan!

Master really surprised me. I love all that is revealed about him from the heart breaking to the heartwarming! A man molded into a killer since childhood, unable to realize his self-worth beyond that. He'll sacrifice himself for his brothers, believes they see him as expendable, worse, he believes it, too.

Along comes Ambrielle, a strong, self-sufficient, intelligent woman who knows what she wants but has never found a man to share her heart. Then the circumstances that bring Master into her life, have taken her family, endangered her, and set her on a path of revenge.

Loved how Ambrielle's perspective of Master grows, changes. She goes from seeing him as weapon, a partner, to deliver justice to seeing the entire man, the parts he holds tight, the creative gifts he buries himself in to keep his sanity. His compassion and the support he gives. He understands the struggle she faces after trauma rips her world from her. She finds the man she can share herself with honestly.

Love how he learned from others' mistakes how to be open, honest about TI, about himself. Giving them a strong bond.
She sees his worth, accepts, and understands the whole of him. He is worthy of her love and deserves the respect of his Club. She just needs to get him to see it, get his club to understand his pain.

The danger she faces is wonderfully woven into the threats Torpedo Ink is facing. The enemies they are pursuing. I love the growth of the club in this book, to their new home, anunderstanding of a new normal. I like how Ambrielle uses her intuition and gift with probability to help Master, to show them there is more than their standard way to skin a cat. Really, oh wow, jaw-dropping twists to deliver Karma! The plotline moves forward, I'm left wondering if the end leaves them with a reprieve from the enemy of the past or opens awareness of them bringing their antagonist closer to discovering them.

This was not one of my favorites. The mystery part of it was very elementary, plus where was his kink? All the rest of the brothers have issues but not him. Sure he had trauma but it felt very washed over and easily solved.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆☆
This is the eighth book in the series, and I would definitely recommend that you read them all in order, to really get the full story. It is pretty complicated, and intense, so dropping in at this stage could be pretty confusing. I would add that each one is fabulous, so why would you want to miss out. Feehan has created an amazing band of people who have lived through a totally horrific childhood, and yet are now finding their special person and learning how life changing that is.

Master (Kir) has a very difficult role in the group and feels that he loses his last vestiges of humanity each time he has to go into prison. So when he meets Ambrie, little can he imagine that she will be part of his future. She turns out to be much more than he could ever expect. and I love that they share a deep interest in mathematics and logic. I cannot tell you how amazing this love story is, and how unlikely. I cannot tell you more, because I am convinced you will thank me!

It is almost impossible for me to explain how intense, how dark, and how delicious this book is. Every installment I think that it cannot be surpassed, but this is quite possibly my favourite yet.

Triggers: Multiple Homicides/Traumatic Experiences

This book didn't hold my attention the way the other books in this series has. The insta-love between Ambrie and Master seems a bit forced. I understand attraction and how it makes people do crazy things, but for me, it just didn't work in this couple.

Also, the way that Master is treated by his brothers left me torn. I realize that it's Master's place to stand up for himself, but it's also his brothers' place to pay attention to Master to make sure that he's okay. And while I understand Czar's protective instinct to put his wife and children first, no one should have to pay for those lives with their own.

Ambrie is a smart cookie and does what she needs to do to survive. However, she's a bit whiny and over the top.

Romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres, and this one is definitely one to get your heart racing with both parts of that genre. The story is full of danger and excitement, and it's combined with steamy romance. There's even some well-timed humor to balance things out. The characters are well-developed, and they have terrific chemistry, so it's not at all difficult to root for them. The storyline is more complex than I usually expect from an MC romance, but then, this is written by Christine Feehan, so good things are pretty much a given. I realize I've been vague, but I don't want to give away the book's secrets. That's something each reader should enjoy as they discover for themselves. What I will say is Recovery Road is full of intrigue, danger, and violence. It's also full of romance and some steamy goodness between characters that quickly get under your skin.

Recovery Road is the 8th installment in the Torpedo Ink series and became my favorite without a doubt. Like the others, a member of the MC, Kir “Master” Vasiliev is drawn to Ambrielle Moore when he sees her picture. They meet under extraordinary circumstances and then marry for the convenience of revenge and safety. Together they are seeking out those that murdered her parents and the one that is trying to kill the MC president’s family. Together they create a team that is backing and supporting one another when they both feel they’re alone in the world and at the end of their rope.

I have to hand it to the author because she beautifully crafted a love story between two damaged individuals, surrounding it with good and evil, friendship and family, and a little bit of humor. Master’s backstory is horrendous and the total opposite of Ambrielle’s. She had loving parents and taught her self-defense in order for her to protect herself out in the world. With Master she gets nothing sugar coated and commits 100% to making their marriage work. But the core of the story is about Master. He’s a man who feels he’s barely holding onto his humanity and sanity. He’s ready to end it and willing to risk his life for the safety of his club and his woman. He likes that Ambrielle wants him and will take anything she offers to feel that someone cares for him for once in his life. There are bumps along the way but in the end they both commit to each other for good.

I can’t say enough about this book and want to savor the story all over again from beginning to end. The author wrote a well-crafted who-done-it mystery, romantic suspense with a touch of paranormal for Master and Ambrielle in Recovery Road. Fans of Christine Feehan are going to love this latest edition.

Recovery Road is the eighth book in the Torpedo Ink series by Christine Feehan. I am a massive fan of this series and was excited to start reading Recovery Road. This book is my favorite. No kink, just hot sex. Recovery Road is worth reading, and you will love this couple. I'm left wondering if the end leaves them with a reprieve from the enemy of the past or opens awareness of them, bringing their antagonist closer to discovering them.

Kir "Master" is a member of Torpedo Ink and is feeling burnt out after his last prison assignment. He doesn't want to go undercover back in prison again but he doesn't think the other members of his team will listen to him so he's feeling really done.

Ambrielle "Ambrie" was held hostage and her parents were killed right in front of her. Now she's being forced to marry a mobster against her will for her money. She's sure that once her soon to be husband marries her and gets his hands on her money that he'll kill her.

When Master and the rest of Torpedo Ink find out about what's going on with her, they decide to step in and save her. But in order to keep her from being kidnapped and forced to marry the mobster again, they tell her that she should marry Master so she's already married to someone and they'll be able to keep her safe.

Master let's her know that she doesn't have to marry him but if she does, they'll be no divorce because he and his crew marry for life. He thinks she's too good for him and wants one of the other guys to marry her but she agrees to marry him because she kind of feels safe around him and when she gets to know him she can see that he's not a bad guy. She gets to see that the other guys in Torpedo Ink are very nice to her and so are their wives even though the guys are a bit rough around the edges. She starts to see that things aren't always as they appear to be and that she can trust them all. So when they go after the people who killed her parents there's a lot more going on there than they first suspected. And then their leader and his family are targeted by someone and they have no idea who it is or why they are being targeted. They have to figure that out as well as go after the people that killed Ambrielle's parents.

I love how they all work together really well, even the wives get in on the action. The pranks that are going on between Savage and the sheriff are hilarious and we get to see a completely different side of Savage. It was nice that this book was mostly Master and Ambrielle getting to know one another and there was no BDSM in this book unlike in some of the previous books. This was just a sweet romance between Master and Ambrielle although there is a lot of talk about how well endowed Master is.

All of the Torpedo Ink members have horrible pasts and childhoods. We get to hear what happened to some of them but there wasn't as much graphic details as in the previous books. For this reason and to get to know these characters better, I think it's a good idea to read this series in order.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Recovery Road is the eighth book in the Torpedo Ink series by Christine Feehan. When I open any book of Christine Feehan’s, I will get a fantastic read with quality writing and an exquisite romance. Kir “Master” Vasiliev is the club’s “go-to guy” when they need an assassin in prison. Kir feels disposable and that the club would go on well without him. Ambrielle Moore is a brilliant investment banker. When Ambrielle’s family is murdered in front of her, she vows revenge. Kir is conveniently dropped into her path. What starts as a transactional relationship develops into something much, much more.

Kir is a tragic character; my heart ached for him. His soul is in tatters, and the emptiness is weighing him down. He finds purpose in becoming Ambrie’s defender. However, Kir begins to feel emotions he thought he was incapable of feeling for Ambrie. Ambrie is Kir’s light in all the darkness. Kir is sexy and dangerous, yet he finds he is so much more with Ambrie’s assistance.

Ambrie’s entire world gets turned upside down. Ambrie is independent and resilient. I loved how Ambrie became dependent on Kir, but it never felt like she was weak. Instead it shown a spotlight on the bond Kir and Ambrie forged. I instantly liked Ambrie due to how she saw and treated Kir.

The couple had an off-the-charts, raw, sensual connection. Kir and Ambrie were perfect for each other; their personalities blended seamlessly. Their physical contact was gut-wrenching and elementally raw. There was not much tenderness at the beginning of the relationship, but it was steamy, sexy, and unforgettable.

Recovery Road tells the story of a morally bankrupt man with nothing to lose that finds a shining light in Ambrie. This has a fast-paced plot that combines romance and action flawlessly. I was riveted to the page. Christine Feehan is the queen of paranormal romance. I devour every book she writes. If you are a fan of Torpedo Ink, don’t miss this visceral, thrilling, sensual read! If you are new to Christine Feehan, now is the time to meet the tattered souls of Torpedo Ink!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book through Netgalley and the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

*4.5 stars*

High intensity romance…

Given the history of each member of the Torpedo Ink, it is not surprising at the level of intensity and emotion their stories provide. They endure their pasts together yet each has their own devils to wrestle. In this instalment, Kir (aka Master) is at the end of his ability to keep moving forward. Something had to change or he was done. Until Ambrie…

Ambrie found herself in he** on earth with nowhere and no one to turn to until Kir and his brethren offered a way out. Trust was an issue (rightly so) so the tension was high along with desire and a whole host of other emotions. As usual, this author knew how to make me feel each and every one…

Forced marriage (sort of), battling personal demons and finding a common path were part and parcel for Ambrie and Kir as they fought together for a future. I worried about Kir but, happily, they had each other’s backs and they deserved every second of their happily ever after…

One of my top favourites of the series!

*I happily reviewed this story

Kir “Master” Vasiliev has reached the end. He knows, deep inside that he cannot continue to be the “inside” guy for Torpedo Ink. Each time he goes behind bars to help rid the world of the evil people preying on the weak and the children, his soul gets blacker and he dies a little more inside. The monster within that he turns into to do what must be done is getting harder and harder to bury inside his soul. He is the only member of Torpedo Ink that has a prison record. He figures that Czar didn’t find him important enough to give a clean slate to.
While Torpedo Ink was tracking down leads on the “Ghosts”, they stumbled onto a crime in the making. One of the men they are tracking is in the process of forcing a lady that doesn’t even know him to marry him so he can access her fortune. And most likely end her life in the process. The members of Torpedo Ink will have to intervene and take down their suspect.
Ambrielle Moore suddenly finds her life turned upside down and a man she has never met is insisting she will be his wife. Ambrielle is not totally helpless. 4.5 stars--RECOVERY ROAD is the eighth instalment in Christine Feehan’s contemporary, adult TORPEDO INK erotic, paranormal romance series a spin off from the author’s Sea Haven/Sisters of the Heart series which in turn is a spin off from the Drake Sisters series. This is Kir ‘Master Vasiliev’, and investment banker Ambrielle Moore’s story line.. SAVAGE ROAD can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary

WARNING: RECOVERY ROAD contains graphic reflections of , and makes reference to violence, rape, murder, torture, child prostitution, and abuse against children, women and men, and may not be suitable for more sensitive readers. The violence is a part of the history and lives of the Torpedo Ink crews. The eighteen (plus one) original Torpedo Ink members are the sole survivors of a Russian pedophile ring, and as such work towards rescuing children and women in similar situations.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Master and Ambrielle) RECOVERY ROAD follows in the aftermath of the murder of Ambrielle Moore’s parents. Torpedo Ink has been tracking a group of assassins for hire, assassins working in and out of the prison system. Kir ‘Master’ Vasiliev is their next target, in an effort to take down Viktor Prakenskii aka Czar, President of the Torpedo Ink MC. A killer himself, Master is equal to the task, taking down all four members of an elite killing team but Master’s return to the MC finds our hero focusing on their next assignment, to protect a couple from possible harm. When they realize it is too late, Master must now focus on the woman with whom he will fall in love, a woman who claims Master as her very own. Enter Ambrielle Moore. As Ambrielle and Master navigate the early days of married life, the MC continue to hunt for the people responsible for killing Ambrielle’s family, as well as the ongoing protection of the Czar Prakenskii, his wife and children. What ensues is the quick building relationship between Ambrielle and Master, and the potential fall-out as Master is willing to die to protect the brothers and sisters he has come to call family and friends.

The relationship between Kir and Ambrielle is one of immediate attraction but Kir aka Master believes Ambrielle is only with him until vengeance is served. Ambrielle is desperate to find the people responsible for the murder of her parents but not at the possibility of losing the man with whom she is falling in love. Kir aka Master believes his heart is black; unredeemable in the eyes of his family and most especially with the woman he loves but Ambrielle sees beyond the killer, she sees the boy who has lost so much. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and seductive.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and familiar secondary and supporting characters including most of the previous story line couples from all three interconnected series, as well as MMA fighter Reese Fender, and a ghost from the past that has targeted the Torpedo Ink MC.

RECOVERY ROAD is another detailed, complex and heart breaking story line of betrayal and vengeance, abuse and recovery, obsession and acceptance, forgiveness and love. The premise is haunting and gritty; the romance is captivating and intense; the characters are broken, damaged, recovering and lost.
