Unfortunately I DNF this one just couldn’t get into it!

Thank you NetGalley and to the publishers for giving me an early release copy in exchange for my honest review.

This was requested when I first found out about NetGalley and I had requested so many ARCs that I could not get to all of them before they were archived. I really wanted to get to this one, as it seemed interesting. If I can find this somewhere for a reasonable price, I will try to get it! I am giving this book three stars, as I don't want to give it a good or bad rating, since I did not get to it and we have to leave a star rating.

Hustle and Heart: Foretold sets out to tell us one version of how Mothman ends up both a harbinger and a chaotic entity in the world. Not a bad premise for this one, just doesn't quite gel into something that appeals to my tastes.

I absolutely loved this novel.
Such a great story with defined characters and a great plot.
What drew me in the most was how fleshed out the characters were
The writing style was fluid and relateable.
The cover was fascinating as well.
A reviting read overall
Definitely recommend adding this to your TBR!

This series begins amazingly. The story is exciting, and the art adds suspense and mystery. I liked reading it. Not horror but it is quite eerie and tense. A good choice for those who love a good mystery.

In Hustle & Heart: Foretold, we follow the story of Professor Derek Flynn. He always finds himself waking up after a blackout, and he's always at a place where he isn't supposed to be.

This graphic novel started out strong. It was already thrilling from the start. It also kept me curious throughout the story, but it felt a little lacking. Although I think it's due to the fact that this has a sequel. Some parts just felt dragging and like we didn't even get any kind of answer. Overall though, this had great art and story! 3.5 stars.

The artsy of the comic is so descriptive and stunning. But I found the story very bland at the end. Though, I am expecting a total redemption at the next installment.

This ARC has been sat on my to be read for quite some time and I was super excited to finally get around to it. That excitement quickly died when I opened the first page. The artwork on the cover looks nothing like what is inside. Which is very sad as the cover is what made me want to read this. I actually really don’t like the art style (no offence to the artist, this is just my personal preference) it wasn’t anything special and I feel like I’ve seen it many times before.

Straight away you are thrown into the story, which sometimes is a good thing. This was not one of those times. It caused a lot of confusion for me and it made it difficult for me to concentrate as I had no idea what was going on. Some parts are cleaned up during this volume, but personally, I don't think it was paced well. A revelation is made but not enough detail is given. I kind of understood what was happening but not why it was happening. Unfortunately, this meant I had no connection to any of the characters, so I didn't care what happened to any of them.

You learn absolutely nothing about any of these characters. The main character, whose name I can’t remember despite finishing this about 10 minutes ago at the time of writing this review, wakes up in strange places and was present at the time of his wife’s death. He also has a daughter who is angry, and that is all I know.

I understand that you don't want to give everything away in the first volume, but what you did give me, hasn't made me want to continue the series.

*ARC provided by NetGalley in return for an honest review*

To be blatantly honest, this story sounded intriguing at the start, but was like chewing on beef-jerky once you got into it (A pain in the jaw). It just struggled to keep me captivated primarily because I found the writing & art style to be different than what I typically enjoy.

This graphic novel really gave me Unbreakable vibes, that Bruce Willis movie from 2000. Also, a little X-Men. I enjoyed it for what it was. I did get confused at some points with the harsh switch between scenes, and characters.

Story wise, fairly interesting. However The pacing just felt off as well as the overall flow of events matching the storytelling.. The art isn't exactly a style I enjoyed, or the font choice. Styling different on every page, hard to follow and hard on the eyes.

Not to post any spoilers, but I found a plot a bit far fetched. Lots of holes left open to fill and explore in an additional volume/book 2, but not sure I'd be interested enough to pick it up.

**Thank you to Oni Press, and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.**

Visuals start 9/10
Visuals ending 4/10
Story start 3/10
Story ending 6/10

Between 2 and 3 stars, rounded up because of the midway reveal.

I found the beginning to be a bit slow. At least, I mean that I don't really like the structure. You are suddenly thrown into a story that seems to have been going on for a while. Then it all becomes a bit dramatized and slow(compared to the ending), but still filled with many clichés. It wasn't until I was about half way through that I got the feeling that something fresh and exciting was happening, the story held my attention because we finally got to see the big reveal and what it was about. Still, it doesn't feel very finished. Like i said you are thrown into the middle of a story, the first half seems to be some kind of filler with nice visuals, the second half is okay story with acceptable visuals. As if they literally had to divide the quality between the visuals and the story. This makes the ending feel a bit rushed, but to me that is purely because the visuals lowered in quality as the story progressed.
It ends with the impression that there is more to come, but if that has the same structure as this, then I wouldn't feel the need to read the next volume.

I found this story really intriguing right from the beginning. It starts with a guy who has been in a devastating fire in a shopping mall which has killed over 100 people but he feels he has something to do with it. He just doesn’t know what. The police are investigating and can only see a blurred man on the cctv who the suspect to be the culprit.

What I found engaging about this story was that it took a turn I hadn’t expected. It is perhaps a slightly slow build which aids the mysterious tones. I found the font a little tricky to read at times but I did get used to it as I continued through the story.

Interested to see where this will all lead.

Many thanks to netgalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this in advance.

DNF at 60 %

I tried giving it a chance but the more I read the less interested in the story I got. I found all the characters quite annoying.

Sorry, it is just not for me.

This was different to the kind of graphic novels I usually read, but it was good!
At first I was a little lost (that was probably intended though) but I was invested and really wanted to learn what was going on.
A gripping story with great artwork, I'd be interested to read more!

Thanks to netgalley and oni press for this arc!

The plot is well-crafted and keeps you guessing until the end. The artwork is also noteworthy, adding to the suspense and eerie mystery of the story. While it may not be horror, the book has a frisson of unease that adds to the tension while reading. If you enjoy science fiction with a touch of mystery, this is definitely a book worth checking out. It's a great start to the series and I look forward to reading more.

Hustle & Heart: Foretold by Thiago Ribeiro, Cullen Bunn, Heath Amodio. Got approved for this one by NetGalley and decided to give it a go on my off day.

This is more like the size of a combined volume of a comic, rather than a graphic novel, and it is also most definitely the first part as it ends on a cliffhanger. Some of the artwork is really cool, but some of the later panels have some weird stuff where the characters’ faces just look a bit off.

The story follows a man that has a problem. His problem is that he keeps waking up all over the country without any idea how he got there. And each time it happens, he’s present for something truly terrible happening. As the story progresses, he has to struggle with learning if he is the cause, or the warning of said events.

The story is complex with an FBI/CIA type company after him, as well as a cult-like group of worshippers looking for him to help him. He has a tense relationship with his daughter, as well as his sister-in-law, who is convinced he killed his wife. I’m not sure I quite understood everything, but I think I would read more.

Personally a 3/5* for me.

Hustle and Heart follows a man who keeps waking up at the site of devastating incidents where many people are injured and die.

So.... I wasn't expecting this to be a mothman story... like... at all... but it was alright. The author creates a compelling mystery with cults and secret government agencies that makes this an intriguing story about one of cryptozoology's most famous creatures

I don’t think this book was meant for me specifically, and I don’t think I was its target audience, but I can understand that this was actually quite intriguing, but it just fell flat for me that wasn’t really any character, arcs or growth of characters. The answer was actually really really cool but there wasn’t really any relationships between characters and it just felt a little flat for me specifically
