I must admit that first person narratives are not my favorite, but this book does well with the material. DI Beth Fellows is pretty much under the gun with this case and all the red herrings and plot twists nearly get her down. Nice read.
I requested and received a free e-book copy from Joffe Books via NetGalley.

I loved this brand-new mystery by Christie J. Newport. I don't normally read crime, but this had me hooked from the first page. It is excellently written, slick and realistic, with a wonderful main character. Detective Inspector Beth Fellows is a flawed policewoman, with demons of her own. She has broken the rules before, and may have to do so again. When a suspected serial killer strikes, she is forced to revisit a cold case that almost ruined her career. I loved the way Newport ratcheted up the tension, and kept me turning the pages long after my bedtime! Brilliant stuff.

The start of a new series. This is a strong police procedural with plenty of twists and a few surprises Unfortunately for me the main character and her on off relationship was annoying and so repetitive. This book could have been so much more. I hope other readers will enjoy it more just not for me.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in return for giving an honest review.

Thanks to NetGalley, Joffre Books and Christie J. Newport for the opportunity to read an advance copy of The Raven’ Mark. I found this to be a strong police procedural with a variety of twists and surprises. The characters were great and very believable and there were many to follow. A female detective who is in a bi relationship and displays a Borderline Personality disorder to her mate creates unending strife in the relationship. The twists and turns never stop. I was an excellent read that kept me captivated to the last page.

I really enjoyed getting to know Detective Beth Fellows and thought it worked as a mystery novel. I enjoyed each part of the story and getting to start this journey. The characters were what I was hoping for and I really thought they worked in this universe. It left me wanting more in this universe and I look forward to read more in this series.

"Then there was that one kid, the one she got too close to. When it didn’t work out, it finished her career. She wasn’t asked to leave, but she was done. She went into some kind of slump or depression and kicked her heels for a while until she pulled herself together and I put her in touch with the force."
