If you follow Dr. Amen on Instagram, you know what this man is all about! I enjoy his short video clips but enjoyed this book even more as he goes into more depth and science behind the Why's and importance of his teachings. I found the science behind his work fascinating that aligned with the health tips that followed. Make no mistake, this is a self care book! It is great resource for personal development to incorporate the findings into your lifestyle. I would recommend a physical copy to take notes.

There are tidbits of valuable information in this book and many things I highlighted but much of it is common sense and an advertisement/encouragement to go get your brain scanned, take supplements, exercise, eat healthy etc.. There are alot of stories of people Dr Amen has treated with pictures of before and after of their brains and was still an interesting read about our brain, how it functions and what we can do to heal or keep it healthy but I think it may discourage someone who knows they need help but just can't afford it.

To me this book has a whole lot to offer, it's a book that sends message directly to our brain and instincts. The author has analysed the human brain and how it psychologically reacts to different cases.

Thanks Netgalley for giving out this piece.

I absolutely appreciated this science based book that allows us a peek inside the mind.

With 366 daily activities, we learn the brain is moldable, changeable, improvable.

This book address every care and concern you may have regarding your memory and thought process. Things like shame, concern for pleasing others, ADD/ADHD, trauma, bad habits, addictions and soooooo many more issues are addressed. Tools are given to combat these difficulties in our every day lives so we can work to heal the brain - which heals our whole being.

This is an excellent self-help book that showcases our brain and provides an easy breakdown of how we can help our minds to not only heal, but prevent damage.

I follow Dr. Amen on Instagram so was very excited to get my hands on his book. This book is great to read in small doses. It really makes you think and question the things you do. Brain health is something that a lot of people do not think about but is very crucial. Overall a great read!

The key words in the title are "Simple Daily Practices" as this book is not a pick up and read from beginning to end text. Instead, it is a compilation of 366 short informative essays on brain health, grouped in thematic sections and written in extremely understandable language with realistic, doable daily actions/assignments. It is intended to be read in daily segments over the course of a year, and as such, it is a must-read for anyone interested in living your best brain-life.

The book made me wish I had easy access to one of the Amen Clinics, so I could have the brain imaging that is featured throughout the book done on my own brain. The transformations that he describes to illustrate different strategies are highly motivating, and most readers will recognize themselves and people they know among the case studies described. The simple daily practices are as touted, simple, and taken with a one-a-day approach will easily make a difference in virtually anyone's health, brain and body.

The only real criticism of the book are the cheesy names for some of the concepts Dr. Amen describes, such as "Taming the Dragons" and "Killing the ANTs". I felt like the tone was a little condescending at times because of this, though it may be only a personal response and did not interfere with my overall recommendation for the book. I saw some value in the terms, as they make the concepts more memorable.

I plan to purchase this book and begin the journey of daily practices just as soon as it publishes. Thank you to Netgalley and Tyndale House Publishers for the digital ARC of Change Your Brain Every Day. The opinions in this review are my own.

Daniel Amen MD is a true leader in the fields of psychiatry and neuroscience. He presents information from his experience of over 40 years. In the book, Change your Brain Every Day, he presents daily habits that you should do in order to preserve your happiness and brain health. This book addresses everything from thinking habits, to blood flow, nutrition, and how to implement positive habits. The message entwined throughout the book is a positive one, that you can make changes every single day to improve your mind, your life, and therefore, your happiness. I like how the book is broken down into daily bite sized doses. This makes it easy to read, follow, and implement in your daily life. Dr. Amen explains that just as physical health is a daily practice, so is improving your mental/brain health. If you want to feel happier, more alive, and cognitively healthy, you must exercise those skills, similarly to how you would exercise physically. This was an interesting concept to read and think through. This book was an insightful read in how to improve your health. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance review copy in exchange for my honest review.

This book was informative and easy to read. It would be a great book to read a few chapters/pages at a time or even all at once. Would be a great reference to return to for help improving health/mental health.

I was really excited to read this book, but it did fall a little flat for me. It suffers from a lack of succinct organization and the information meanders and gets repetitive. Great idea. Not-so-great execution. I would have loved to see the action items laid out and organized in a manner that makes it an easy reference book. I understand his idea that someone reads a section a day, implementing slowly, but, quite frankly, it isn't exciting enough to keep going back to. The engagement isn't there.

This book was loaded with all kinds of information as it pertains to brain health. While it got a little too repetitive for me in the second half, it’s laid out in a way where you could just read one page per day instead of reading a bunch of it at once like I did. Thanks to NetGalley and Tyndale House Publishers for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!

“Change Your Brain Every Day” by Dr. Daniel Amen is a helpful resource for life. These pinpoint questions help you pay attention to the daily state of your brain. Like the check engine light on your car, these 366 practices keep your brain functioning at high efficiency. Page by page, the book offers readers a daily dose of brain wisdom, based on 40 years of experience.

Dr. Daniel Amen spices his book with humor, authority, wisdom, and gentleness. He speaks to the reader as he would speak to a family member. He desires healthy living and longevity for everyone, and breaks down his brain habits into 366 tiny steps. In this activity-oriented book, each steps leads towards the desired goal of the reader.

Knowing our brains can digest small habits, I especially enjoyed how the author does not complicate the process of brain healing. He is kind and patient with his words, not judging or shaming readers for their faults and failures. If this eventually becomes an audiobook, I would listen it daily as I prepare my day!

“Change Your Brain Every Day” by Dr. Daniel Amen is brilliantly written with compassion for the reader. Yet, he does not enable bad behavior or make excuses like a codependent mother. Doc Amen desires change in his readers. He wisely shows them you how to get from where you are today, to where you want to be in the future. Step by step, and easily digestible!

I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Netgalley and purchased additional copies for gifts.

Fascinating book about the brain and how to get it healthy. The science was deep but presented in a non-overwhelming way and was easy to understand.
