I absolutely loved this book. It is a fantastic book for the singles in their 20s and 30s who aren't entertained by the dating scene anymore. Well written with lovely artwork.

This book is about a young black girl trying to find love in todays society. With all the available dating apps and the varying expectations when going on a date, it’s quite hard to find someone compatible looking for the same thing as your. In this book the author is giving advice on how to figure out what you want, how to love yourself and set boundaries. The chapters include cartoons of a young black girl following her advice and through this finding love.
Being in my mid-twenties, I already went through a lot of dating, self-reflecting and figuring out what I want and what I don’t. So in this book I didn’t find anything new. But I can imagine that it might help young individuals newish to the dating world figuring out how to navigate trough it and finding themselves in the process.

Miigweetch NetGalley and PA Press for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

This is a sassy take on modern dating from the perspective of a young Black woman. I expected to like this a lot more than I actually did. Unfortunately, the material never really clicked for me, and the book seemed disjointed. The illustrations were cute, but not distinctive.

Overall I didn't really enjoy this book and will not be recommending it to my reading circle.

LOVE the concept, didn't love the book. The idea of a guide to self love and romance in the form of a graphic novel is genius. However, this particular one just fell flat to me.

Overall I thought the advice was great and this would be a suitable read for someone barely stepping into their journey to open their hearts to others and themselves. However, if the reader does have any experience with self reflection at all then this may not be very impactful. A lot of the tips in this book (don't settle, meet people outside your "type", take yourself on a date, etc) are concepts that I have seen on social media and get the same point across in a few sentences. I really wish the author would have dug deeper into these ideals and added some more unique perspectives. There were times it felt as if it were headed in that direction, but ultimately did not follow through.

I also would have loved to see more pictures. I felt that they just sort of appeared and disappeared throughout the book without being fully connected to the text. Here on Net Galley this is listed as a comic / graphic novel, but didn't exactly come off that way.

I appreciate the opportunity to read and review this book and value the advice given throughout it. Again, just would have loved to see more depth and art in the product.

This was a really lovely quick read. As someone seriously pursuing romantic relationships for the first time in my mid-20s, I greatly appreciated the author's frank discussions and advice. I know that it is easy to fall back on empty platitudes when it comes to dating advice, and I liked that this book instead talked about prioritizing realistic expectations and taking care of yourself while dating. It is a good reminder that the dating world can be rough at times, especially with dating apps, but that doesn't mean a relationship is an impossible goal. Very glad I checked this one out!

I didn't really enjoy it, it wasn't really my kind of book, however, it's a truly sweet and yet realistic perspective on love.
