This story starts in the present then goes back to the past to set up the backstory of this family. Matteo is a chef who has become mysteriously ill. What is the cause? Could something from the past have put Matteo in danger? This was a good book with a great plot and plenty of suspense. Thank you to net galley for n advanced readers copy.

I loved this book! It's about a chef who becomes ill and ends up in the hospital. There is some question about what caused his sudden illness and why it keeps recurring. The doctor that is looking into this mystery (Adrian) begins to make it a quest to figure out what is going on. Because of the results of some of the blood tests, she begins to probe into Mateo's history. He and his parents were born in Colombia and fled the cartels through Mexico with his maternal grandparents. The parents went on the the US but the grandparents stayed in Mexico. This is a great mystery that keeps you wondering and it is typical Fern Michaels -- lots of rich storytelling alonge the way! I loved this book!

Fern Michaels does not disappoint with her new novel. Mateo is an up and coming chef in a Manhattan restaurant. However, he begins to be plagued with mysterious life threatening illnesses. While in the hospital, his interest is piqued by his good looking female doctor, Elena. It seems as if they have a common interest in each other and Elena can never turn down a mysterious illness. She is determined to discover what is wrong with Mateo, and her determination may also be fueled her interest in him. This novel focuses not only on the life of Mateo, but that of, Elena and how her family came to arrive as immigrants to the United States. It was interesting to have both stories interwoven into one. There were definitely surprises thrown into the book. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance review copy in exchange for my honest review.

I have been a long time fan of Fern Michaels, so I was really excited to get an early copy of On the Line. I have to say though, I was disappointed with this one. I felt like the story spent way too much time in the 1980’s dealing with the drug cartel and by the time you got to the story of Chef Mateo the book is about over.
Thank you Netgallery and Kensington for my ARC.

Thanks to Kensington and NetGalley for an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

First, I love Fern Michaels’ books and this one grabs you from the start. But… then we travel back to the 1980s and the drug cartels in Columbia, learning a little too much about the parents and grandparents of the main character. By the time we get back to Chef Mateo’s storyline in present day NYC, the resolution seemed a little rushed. I almost wish there would be a sequel focusing on his future.

*Thank you to Kensington Books, Fern Michaels, and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review*

I was a little bit disappointed in this novel and I adore Fern Michaels. I wanted more of Mateo and Adrian and their relationship, and less of the history. There were some things that didn't add up with the history of Elena and her parents but it seemed almost too easy for them to get to the America from Colombia. As usual, the writing is superb but sadly, the story didn't interest me as much. I was drawn in by a celebrity Chef and his gorgeous doctor but given a mediocre history. it felt unbalanced.

I enjoyed both the beginning and the end of this book which takes place in the present day. The larger middle, the history, was way too long. The main character in the present day was not really a part of that history until as an infant later. It quickly became boring and I had to force myself to get through it to get back to the present day story. Finally, the book did resume that story which should have been the only story and came to its conclusion. Quite disappointed.

Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Mateo who is an chef is taking to the hospital after passing out. A few weeks later he is at the hospital and is told is mercury levels are high. I enjoyed the chemistry that developed between Mateo and the doctor. I enjoyed this book and i can't wait to read her next one.

Fern Michaels is a very good storyteller and this one was no exception. I only wish it was meatier. I wanted more detail and I wanted the time lapses filled in.

another great book by Fern Michaels, it always has a great time in the mystery genre. I was invested in what was going on in this story and loved the plot. The characters were interesting and did everything that I was hoping for.

"On the third day, there came a knock on the door that signaled the arrival of the catch of the day. Included was a note with instructions, which Dante read aloud to everyone. The first sentence ordered them to leave the boat at sunrise. The second was an address."

This book was written by a well known author. Her books are unique…this is a quick read with intriguing characters who come alive on the pages. Fiction that reads like nonfiction…secrets…family…friends…this book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Curl up in a comfy chair…grab a cup of steaming herbal tea…become lost in the pages…
