Something is terribly wrong with Thorn Manor. The house has seemingly closed itself off from the world, no on able to get in or out. Elizabeth hopes their sudden imprisonment has nothing to do with the fact that her and Nathaniel have been kissing. The two explore the secret recesses of Thorn Manor to discover the reason for their imprisonment. Soon they realize that the house will not settle until Nathaniel declares his intentions. The only way to break the spell is the Lover’s Pact: three impossible tasks to prove his love for her and earn her hand in marriage. Nathaniel is only too ready to prove his worth, but Elizabeth is reluctant to name the tasks, unsure if she wants to name this thing between them, unsure if she is even ready to marry. Equally troubling to Elizabeth is the matter of Silas, the demonic servant of Nathaniel who seems to exhibit more and more human characteristics the longer they are trapped within the house. Not to mention, all this must be resolved before the Midwinter Ball, which is to be held at Thorn Manor.

Mysteries of Thorn Manor is a delightful novella featuring the well loved characters from Sorcery of Thorns.

This was so perfectly cozy and lighthearted. I loved the world of 'Sorcery of Thorns', and this novella was a fun, low stakes way to explore more of it.

Everything about this book was just delightful. I loved the characterization of the house, getting to see more of Elizabeth working with grimoires, Elizabeth and Nathaniel being unbearably cute together, and the close relationship they each share with Silas.

This book was nothing but cute vibes and fluff, and that was really all it needed to be! It was a great follow up to 'Sorcery of Thorns', and provided a little bit more closure for the characters while still leaving the door open for more adventures.

*Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I am already obsessed with Sorcery of Thorns. So it is no surprise that I loved this book just as much as that. I absolutely adore all the characters. There were so many moments that had me giggling but also some that made me teary. Also, is this novella alluding to a sequel? Are we getting another book in this universe? Bc I would sell my soul for that!!!!

I received an e-arc of Mysteries of Thorn Manor by Margaret Rogerson from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was 5 stars before I even read it. It was like the special holiday episode of your favourite show, where you get to see your favourite characters being wholesome together. I was smiling and giggling the whole time reading this and kinda sad it's over :(.
Nathaniel, Elisabeth, and Silas have my whole heart <3

When I heard that the author had decided to write a novella for Nathaniel and Elisabeth I was ecstatic but also afraid. What if it let me down? What if it wasn’t what I hoped for? Well I am pleased to say this did NOT disappoint.

Firstly, this book was pure fluff and I LOVED IT! An endless amount of happy Nathaniel Elisabeth moments that are sure to please any fan of the first book. Not to mention we have more of a concrete conclusion after the open ended epilogue of the first book.

Overall this is a really fun book that I recommend to all Sorcery of Thorns fans. 10/10

Reading Mysteries of Thorn Manor is like sitting by a warm, crackling fireplace in the middle of a winter blizzard. It’s wonderfully cozy and has a magical wintery vibe that captures both the love and nostalgia of the season. I read this one on Christmas Eve while a snowstorm howled around my little bungalow and it was the perfect choice.

This little novella is a sequel to Rogerson’s Sorcery of Thorns, following librarian-warrior Elisabeth and sorcerer Nathaniel as they are trapped in Thorn Manor by a mysterious curse, leading up to the Midwinter Ball.

I’m loving the trend of fluffy little novellas in the middle of fantasy series (and I hope this means we’ll be seeing more of Elisabeth and Nathaniel in the future!). Thorn Manor stands out for having meat to its fluff as well: there’s real emotional growth for the couple, a few hilarious scenes (the imagery of Elisabeth clomping around in ancient armour is so perfect), and several beautifully bittersweet scenes between Elisabeth and the demon Silas.

I love the way Rogerson can balance joy, sadness, and humour all in the same scene, and her characters sparkle with life. Thorn Manner was as immersive as a full novel and fans of Sorcery of Thorns (or YA fantasy in general) will undoubtably love it.

Thank you to Netgalley and Margaret K. McElderry Books for my review copy of this book.

Rating: 4.5/5 rounded to 5 stars.

This was a wonderful novella following Sorcery of Thorns. It was the conclusion between Elisabeth and Nathaniel that I didn't know I needed.

Elisabeth, just as in Sorcery of Thorns, is brave, loyal and has so much love to give. She is a strong heroine who loves her sword, and her suit of armour. She has a passion for restoring Grimoires and has a talent in coaxing and settling them down when they get a bit riled. And of course, she loves Nathaniel and can't stop thinking about kissing him.

Nathaniel is effortlessly hilarious and still a flirt. But, I can still see how the events in Socrcery of Thorns had affected him, which I loved because it made this novella more realistic. Of course, things are not all easy. He still has some pretty creepy nightmares some nights and he has matured a lot since Ashcroft. I can tell how much Nathaniel loves Elisabeth even without him saying it out loud. That means a lot more since Rogerson was able to show me his love, instead of telling me.

Silas of course is still amazing, and is antics in this book made me laugh.

I didn't expect the characters to have a lot of development, since it is a novella and a nice, fluffy sequel to Sorcery of Thorns. I believe the characters are not meant to go through a whole arc.

Overall, the novella was entertaining. It was a light, fluffy read, perfect for the winter season (and especially after final exams). It was a wonderful sequel to Elisabeth and Nathaniel's relationship, and every moment between them was adorable. I definitely feel like this was the resolution that I needed after finishing Sorcery of Thorns.

If you want a light, fluffy novella that will leave you giggling and smiling, this one is for you!

It should be rule of thumbs that any novella is a low stakes companion to the actual book. This book was a prime example of what t a novella should look like. It was not over the top serious, the stakes were low and the action was contained within the manor that the only 4 characters of the book are present in. This book gave a great excuse to spend more time with the amazing characters we get to meet in the Sorcery of Thorns. The story was fun and fast to get through with a satisfying conclusion and despite its fun nature, it didn't shy away from addressing the immense trauma the characters were put through in the first book. Overall, it was a really enjoyable entry in the Sorcery of Thorns universe. The stellar open ending that promises more is in store for these characters, and the next time we see them, their worries won't be as small as a conservative ancestor's silly little curse. I for one can't wait to see what more is in store

I was really excited to get this into this book as I recall really enjoying Sorcery of Thorns when it came out in 2019..

Overall this novella was a entertaining little amuse-bouche. Elisabeth, Nathaniel and Silas are all back for this sweet and amusing little book. I would suggest that you re-read Sorcery of Thorns before this novella. After a few chapters, I had to put this book on hold to read Sorcery of Thorns again. I really couldn’t remember how it ended, so when I tried to read this book without a refresher I was confused.

Thank you Netgalley and Simon & Schuster Canada for providing me with an eARC of this book to read and review.

This was so charming, and a much-needed comfy, cozy, slice of life story. When I saw that there was going to a novella for 'Sorcery of Thorns', I couldn't believe it. I needed to get my hands on a copy of 'Mysteries of Thorn Manor' and I'm so happy that I did!

It was so comforting and fun to return to this world and these characters. I first read 'Sorcery of Thorns' back in 2020, and was delighted to do a reread of it before diving into 'Mysteries of Thorn Manor'. This is such a lovely continuation of the story, once again leaving things open-ended in a way. I'm hoping Margaret Rogerson dwells back into this world someday!

Wonderful sequel from Rogerson, I love everything this author writes and had so much fun revisiting these characters! I think this would have worked more for me as a full-length sequel as there were some character arcs that I believe deserved more page time, but I still really enjoyed it and am excited to recommend this one to customers! Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the eARC!

The perfect book for a cold winter evening!
Reading this felt like being wrapped in a warm blanket next to a fire with a hot chocolate in hand and i absolutely loved it. This is a perfect continuation of A Sorcery of Thorns and the definition of cozy fantasy. I love Elizabeth and Nathaniel even more after reading this and can't wait for Margaret Rogerson's next book!

I absolutely adored every second of this book. Give me all the cozy, romantic, funny vibes. I am loving the low stakes, fantasy fun here guys! So relaxing, easy to read and laugh out loud funny.

I loved getting to catch up with all our favourite characters, and see where they are at now. Such a perfect addition to the Sorcery of Thorn's world.

I can't even count how many times I had to stop and read a passage out loud to my husband because I couldn't stop smiling or laughing. Pure joy from start to finish.

I hope we see more in this world soon!

Margaret Rogerson does it again. My face actually hurts from smiling so much because this was so stinking cute! I cannot believe I forgot how funny these characters are. Rogerson's debut novel and Vespertine are much more on the serious, lyrical side, whereas this one is just a hoot and a half with so many jokes and asides that I dare anyone to read this without laughing out loud once.

This takes place several months after the end of A Sorcery of Thorns. I did miss some of the finer points of the recaps because it's been a few years since I read it, but that did not keep me from enjoying this immensely. They basically wake up one day to a house under siege by itself. No one can enter the grounds, and Elisabeth, Nathaniel, Silas, and Mercy are trapped inside by some seriously violent plants. Why? Because the house wants Elisabeth and Nathaniel to court properly, and that pretty much made my day. As they try to figure out how to fix the manor, there are just as many sweet, quiet moments as there are funny action scenes. One in particular involved enchanted clothing that fights back, and I was practically cackling the whole time.

Nathaniel and Elisabeth are downright adorable together. Theirs is one of my favourite types of relationships to read about. They poke fun at each other in every moment yet show up every single time it matters, and even when it doesn't. This novella revolved primarily around their growing relationship, and I just love them to bits. It was so cute, so sweet, so undeniably funny and I want so much more of them. There's a certain scene where she wears a suit of armour and it made me so darn happy.

I tend to shy away from novellas because they never seem to be enough story and always leave me a touch unsatisfied. Not the case here. While I of course wanted more, it was only because I didn't want it to end. I could not have been happier with this book. Rogerson has solidified herself as an auto-read for me and I can't wait for more from her.

The Mysteries of Thorn Manor by Margaret Rogerson was a cute little read and an enjoyable peek back into the world and lives of the characters introduced in Sorcery of Thorns. The novella follows Elisabeth and Nathaniel once again, and gives a cute look at how their relationship has progressed (the forbidden kissing had me swooning, ohh my). And of course I can’t forget Silas, which had me so happy as he was hands down my favourite character in the full length novel and this book lets you see what exactly became of him after the events that happened at the end of Sorcery of Thorns. When I say all I wanted was to see Silas again, I mean it. So this was such a gift for me.

As the title suggests, the novella involves discovering some of the secrets of Nathaniel’s family manor. This includes hidden rooms, and artifacts. However the main storyline revolves around Elisabeth and Nathaniel’s relationship. Thorn Manor is unhappy that they are unofficially courting, and thus to make the manor happy, Nathaniel must complete three impossible tasks to win Elisabeth’s courtship and soothe the house.

As much as I loved the blooming romance this story depicts between the couple, I have to say one of my favourite parts of the novella was actually the tender moments between Silas and Elisabeth. Considering Silas was already my favourite character I suppose this is unsurprising, but I feel like so much more depth was revealed about Silas. The relationship between the two is so pure and it reveals so much of Silas’ softer side, one that might not be expected from a demon in servitude.

All together this was a very enjoyable fluffy little read. The ending left me a bit uncertain about what to expect, but we shall see!

I LOVED this! When sequels to standalone books I love are announced....I am wary of them. But this was so fun and it was lovely to be back in the SORCERY OF THORNS world again.

This was a low-risk, cozy story following the events of the first book. While it doesn't add much in terms of plot, it was just delightful to be back with beloved characters and watch Nathaniel and Elisabeth fumble into their romantic *ahem* courtship.

Rogerson's writing flows so effortlessly and the dialogue is witty and amusing.

This was so great and makes me want to revisit SORCERY again! The magic in Rogerson's storytelling is unparalleled!

This delightful story has proven that low stakes, fan service novellas about beloved favourites needs to become the norm. This was so much fun to read.

Gosh this was lovely. It was so nice to take a little trip back to visit these characters. Elisabeth, Nathaniel, Silas, and Mercy are all living in Thorn Manor when the manor decides that it would perhaps prefer they never leave. There's a nice little mystery and progression of the romance in a really sweet way. I adore the anthropomorphizing of the books and the manor itself. It lends a really dreamy quality to the story. It's a quick read and quite light. We get to learn a bit more about everyone, and it wraps up really nicely. It's a worthy read, unlike some novellas where nothing seems to actually happen. I really enjoyed it, and I hope that Margaret Rogerson eventually graces us with even more from this world. Silas really deserves his own book.

It's an ARC, so this may change, but I really enjoyed this bit when Elisabeth finds a note tucked away in a book with a written inscription:
"Smiling, she traced her fingers over the letters, feeling the indentations they had left on the paper. This was one of the things she loved best about books. She might never know who had written the dedication, or how long ago, or to whom, but she could briefly clasp hands with them across eternity, a chance meting of souls made possible by their shared love of a story."
