I have always enjoyed this series. I fell 3 books behind and didn’t get the ARCs but I have bought them and can’t wait to read them soon. Luckily, having read 8 books in the series so far, I was able to fill in the gaps as far as the characters’ lives and quickly get up to speed.

Gina Harte is dealing with a personal issue and is more alone than she has ever been. However, there is no time to dwell on her personal misery as she is quickly drawn in to a complex case filled with twists and turns. Billie is a single mother found murdered in her home. She lives in a small community with a circle of friends so its hard to imagine anyone targeting her.

I love small towns as settings for thrillers. The secrets and scandals have never failed to hold my attention. There is always so much drama that makes me happy that I live in the city. In this story, there is a group of school mums whose circle is broken by the murder of one of them. Then the secrets started coming out. Ooooh, they were juicy and scandalous! I was rubbing my hands in glee as each twist dropped. This was such an exciting read.

I have always loved Detective Gina Harte. She’s grown as a character and has had her ups and downs. It was fun to reconnect with her in this fast-paced, twisty, jaw-dropping case. I truly enjoyed this one and cannot wait for the next book in the series.

I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I was not sure if I was confused because I have not read the other books in this series but it just seemed like so many characters in a book. I did find it hard to keep straight who was married to whom and add in all the cheating, wow!
Anyway I thought the storyline was good and there were many times I changed my mind about who did it. I liked the fact that there was very little foul language but the main character and her hot flashes constantly was a little too much. Yes we understand you are hot and also having hot flashes. I would probably try another book by this author.

As always Carla Kovach has knocked it out of the park with another fantastic installment in the D I Gina Harte series.

I have been in a massive reading slump since bringing a small human into the world. And this book has well and truly brought me out of it. Reading at every opportunity possible.

Can't wait for more as always.

This book was amazing! Although there are a few things that bothered me.

First of all I’d like to say that this story was amazing! It kept me on the edge of my seat, guessing back and forth about who the killer could be but none of it prepared me for who the actual killer is. That is what makes a murder mystery perfect in my opinion so that definitely hit all the right spots for me.

The things that bothered me is mostly the way it was written. 9/10 times it looked like the story took place in the 1900’s because of how they talked but then they started talking about TikTok etc and it just made me a bit confused.

Thanks NetGalley for providing me with this arc

I really tried to like this book but I just couldn't finish it. This was my first book and granted I was in the middle of the series however that really made no difference. Detective Harte was not a likable character, she was whining so much about her hot flushes aka flashes, then there was her affair with her boss, that she continued on and on about. She just wasn't a strong character ar all. I figured it out in the beginning who had done what and it was just filler from there on out. The word "gov" was used so much I actually got irritated. I understand the writing was done in the UK but I have loved many books set in that writing style but unfortunately not this one. After 12 books apparently there are those that have enjoyed this series but after one book, this just wasn't for me.

Thank you Bookoutre and Netgalley for the next book in the Gina Harte series. You made my Christmas!

Carla is very easily now one of my favourite authors and I love this series. The books can be read as stand alones, and I missed the first 3.

A great story, which is fast paced and in this one Gina is struggling with her personal life and health, but there is a good balance with the storyline and this.

Loads of twists and turns along the way and I didn't seen the end coming. When is the next one please x

This was a thoroughly enjoyable thriller, set in a typical (ish) suburban family town. Really good story, and gripped me immediately

I love the Gina Harte police procedural series so was thrilled to secure an advance copy of this, thanks to natgalley and the publisher. Carla Kovach's books are always intricately woven with twists and turns in abundance, everyone is a suspect! This book didn't fail to impress and left me craving more from Gina and Briggs.

Her Deadly Promise by Carla Kovach is the twelfth book in the Gina Harte series. I picked up this series with The Liar's House (book 4) and I also thoroughly enjoyed books five through to eleven.

The author has written a really clever and fascinating story with a layered plot that drew me in right from the very first page. Set in the fictional Midlands town of Cleevesford, in this twelfth tense tale, the stakes are high and Gina needs her team more than ever, though she is very focused on her job.

Feisty and down-to-earth, Gina is a brilliant Detective Inspector. DCI Chris Briggs makes his contribution and DS Jacob Driscoll is Gina's partner in crime. Well plotted and suspense-filled from beginning to end, the tension is palpable throughout. The great pacing by Carla Kovach also had a hand in my huge enjoyment of the story. If you love a good detective series and psychological thriller with plenty of twists and a very dark feel, then Her Deadly Promise is for you. Very highly recommended. 😊

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Bookouture via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

This is one of my favorite detective series. And if you are wondering, they can all be read as stand alones. I have fallen behind and have not read the entire series and had no trouble following this one.

This is a fast paced novel that I did not want to put down. I love the main set of characters and always enjoy catching up on their personal lives as they work the case. In this one Gina is not her usual confidant self as she is struggling with her personal life and health. There is such a good balance between the case and her personal life.

As with any good mystery, everyone has a secret they are trying to keep hidden. There are many twists and turns along the way and a conclusion I did not see coming. And I don’t know how I missed reading the entire series as they always seem to end on a cliffhanger that has you clamoring for the next book.

I highly recommend this installment. Actually the whole series! I need to go back and read my missing books.

Thank you to Bookouture for my copy of this book via Netgalley and for letting me take part in this tour. This is the 12th book in the Detective Gina Harte series but all could be read as standalone.

Detective Gina Harte is one of my favourite detectives. She is determined and caring. She will do everything she can to find the killer and you can see how much each case affects her. Gina has grown so much since the first book. I also love Gina’s team. They are a well-oiled machine at this point and can trust each other implicitly.

Carla always keeps her books relevant and realistic. There are comments that relate to the current state of the world. I don’t think these are necessarily needed for all books but I think it was a perfect addition to this story.
This is another excellent addition to the series. It is full of tension, suspense and surprise. The story is full of twists and turns that will keep you on your toes right until the very end. The book is fast-paced and very easy to become absorbed in. If you love a police procedural with a hint of a psychological thriller then this book and series are perfect for you.

This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, from Bookouture and #NetGalley. Thank you to the publishers, NetGalley and the author for the opportunity to preview and review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

Her Deadly Promise is the twelfth installment in the Det. Gina Harte series. I found the book full of twists, suspense. A fantastic crime thriller I’d happily recommend to anyone.

This is my first book in the series and you can read it without having to read the others first. When a young woman goes missing detective Gina is given the task of finding out what happened to her. When other friends of this young woman also start turning up dead she with numerous suspects her work just gets harder.
This book has so many suspects to keep you guessing and the twist right at the end was totally unexpected. I will look out for more books from this author.

If you are looking for an addictive read you wont be able to put down, I found one for you..

Her Deadly Promise

Not only was this book absolutely INSANE. The entire series is.

I have never been one for "series". I have issues with commitment and with series, I feel as though I am forced to pick up the next book. Whereas, I am a free spirit and like my books like I like my men, with no strings attached.

However, when it comes to Carla Kovach, I am completely invested and she has my full attention.

Her Deadly Promise is a fast paced thriller that will keep you engaged from start to finish. There was never a moment I thought to put the book downand although this book is a part of a series, you can easily read it as a standalone but what is the fun in that? There were multiple characters that had motive to be the killer, however, you will be kept in suspense until the very end.

I highly recommend not only this book but also Carla Kovach as an author. No matter what book of hers you pick up you are guaranteed to love it!

Woah, this had me gripped. I love the Gina Harte series anyway and this is the best one yet!

This sees Gina investigating the murder of a young single mum, Billie Reeves. It emerges that she has been sleeping with men for money and having an affair with her sister’s fiancé. When Billie’s friends and neighbours are interviewed, it becomes apparent there are more guilty secrets in the neighbourhood that someone doesn’t want to become known.

Gina has her own problems too, she is suffering from bad menopausal sweats, mood swings. On top of that, her boss Briggs, with whom she had a close friendship and a romance that never got off the ground, has gotten into a serious relationship with another woman, which Gina is somewhat envious and jealous about.

This book ends on a cliffhanger which will definitely have me looking out for the next book!

Thanks must go to the publisher and Netgalley for kindly giving me an arc of this story to read and review.

WoW!!!! Her Deadly Promise by Carla Kovach is the twelfth book in the superb Detective Gina Harte series and what a brilliant book, it was full of so many twists and turns that just had you hooked from the beginning till the end. Carla has a great way of bringing her new audience and fan's hooked and craving her next book especially within this series.

This latest storyline was brilliant and was about a Four-year-old Kayden has been sitting alone on the little patch of tired grass outside his house for hours. His cheeks are wet with tears, as he waits for his mother’s warm embrace. But she’ll never arrive to pick up her darling boy. She’ll never be seen again............

Detective Gina Harte is called to the scene. She starts to investigate her death with her loyal team. They uncovers hidden secrets, everyone was whispering about Billie’s late-night callers and what was going on behind the closed door of Billie’s small home! in this quiet street.

Why was someone willing to kill her?

What do they know, and who will be next victim?

This book was also great as it covered about friendship, family and love, and especially the M word Menopause. We saw a different side to Detective Gina Harte within this book as she is dealing with it. I loved the way Carla added it to this book and how she is dealing with it!!!! (I thought I was going MAD when I started it! lol)

I highly recommend this series. They have been a 5 star read from the beginning and this book was no Different. An excellent read.

Absolutely brilliant! Four friends and four families whose lives will never be the same again. A tense thriller with plenty of believable red herring that kept me guess to the end.

Great read! I really haven't found a Carla Kovach book that I did not like. She writes amazing characters, and plots that are twisted. This was definitely a mystery/thriller that made me want more.

This was a well done police procedural style book. It’s my first book in the series but it read fine and didn’t seem to matter that I hadn’t read any of the previous eleven. The good: it was a good overall plot and the characters were intriguing. The bad: it felt a bit convoluted. There were a lot of moving parts that were to be twists and turns but it may have been excessive that made it confusing.

It was entertaining but not one that will be one of those I’ll remember forever.

Thank you Bookouture and netgalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
