Can you trust your neighbors or your friends? Gina is on the hunt to find out when Billie is murdered in her quiet neighborhood. Why? Which one of her friends had reason to kill her? This book had so much mystery. Just when you thought it was one person then you suspect another. Lots of intrigue in this 12th installment in the Detective Gina Harte series. This is such a great series and every book has it's only exciting storyline. Gina is also a great female lead character. Highly recommend this book and this series!! Look forward to reading more!!!

Even though this is 12th book in this series it still gets my heart racing, goes to the top of my reading pile and is a MUST READ!!!!
I love the characters and have become good friends. The writing was excellent, very clever storytelling and I was completely immersed in the story that was unfolding. I devoured this book in one sitting and only came up for breath after I had turned the last page. The ending blew me away. Full of misdirection and heart stopping moments. Another MUST READ from one of my favourite and very talented authors. Loved, loved it!!!!
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in return for giving an honest review.

Book 12 in the Gina Harte series. This one seems more psychological thriller than police procedural.

When the body of a young mother is discovered in her kitchen, Gina and the team must find out who would do this dreadful thing when her young son was playing outside.

Digging into the lives of all her friends they soon discover everyone is keeping secrets and telling lies.

I must admit this one didn't grab my attention in the same way the previous books have. It was still an enjoyable read but I wasn't hooked as normal.

That said I'm still looking forward to the next book.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.

When Billie, a young mum, is found dead in her home, DI Gina Harte and her team investigate.

Billie has a close friendship group of Meera, Candice and Nadia. All of them are hiding something, but are they guilty of more than gossip?

Love love loved this. Suspense was built up. I was disappointed at one point as thought I’d figured things out and it was an obvious killer. Nope, I was wrong. Amazing plot twist.

5 star, highly recommend.

When a new Gina Harte book comes out, there are a couple of things that happen. 1) clear my schedule (who needs friends anyway) and 2. Bump all other books to the back of the queue! This (as always) had me gripped from the start - when young mum billie is found murdered in her home, the suspect pool is pretty huge. A dodgy ex, an even dodgier way of making ends meet and some very questionable friends, I think most people were on my list of suspects at one time or another!
Set in summer, poor Gina has a heatwave, menopause and unrequited love to deal with, along side solving yet another brutal crime in her town!
The only flaw in this outstanding series is her dreadful love life! Being an advocate for Gina and Biggs to end up together - now I am not so sure he is good enough for her!!
If you only have time to read one book - make it be this one!!!

Four-year-old Kayden has been sitting alone on the little patch of tired grass outside his house for hours. His cheeks are wet with tears as he waits for his mother’s warm embrace. But she’ll never arrive to pick up her darling boy. She’ll never be seen again…

Book 12 in the Gina Harte detective series produces another wonderful read. I have read this series since its inception and to me it has just got better and better. Gina's character has grown as the books progress and so has her role as a detective, she is determined to provide justice for the victims who she genuinely cares about and will fight to lock up all offenders. Full of tension and suspence, these past paced thrillers show that Carla Kovach has proven very successful in bringing her stories to life and keeping the reader fully engaged from the first page, after 12 books there has to be something to be said about the quality of her work. This is a series I will continue to read and hope that the books continue to provide the quality of enjoyment I have come to expect. I feel there is still a lot of room for Gina to grow and look forward to following her further journey as a detective.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of the book in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

How much do I love this series? Suffice to say that as soon as I get my hands on the latest Gina Harte book it goes straight to the top of my to be read list. This is an exciting story with lots of twists all leading up to an explosive climax. I love that the author gives just enough detail about the private lives of the detectives for you to feel as if you really know them. Can't wait for the next book in this excellent series.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat! I flew through it and never quite was able to guess the ending. Even though this was the 12th installment in a series, I was able to jump right in as if it were a standalone. It made me want to start this from the beginning and really dive into other work by this author.

Books like this are why I love reading thrillers! The characters are so unique and well written and fleshed out, it's so cleverly written with everything syncing up really well. There didn't feel like there were massive plot holes or any bits were rushed and the twists and turns kept me guessing throughout. I loved it and can't wait to read the whole series

Lies, secrets, gossip and infidelity.

Carla delivers in book 12 of the Detective Gina Harte Series!

I flew through this book in a day, it was raining, I was happy to be couch bound as I raced through the ARC I received and was glad there was nowhere I had to be as I could not put it down.

This book highlights, you never know what goes on behind closed doors and in another person or couples' lives and how lies, secrets, gossip and infidelity can turn deadly amongst this group of so-called friends. Carla weaves a story full of mystery as every character is potential suspect.

Intertwined with the new crime that the team are trying to solve is the further development of the key characters. We see Gina battling with the onset of menopause and the end of her relationship with Briggs, or is it?

Her Deadly Promise by Carla Kovach is the twelfth book of the completely addictive Detective Gina Harte series, but it can be easily read as a standalone. Once again, a killer needs flushing out, and Gina proves that she is more than equipped for the task.

Single mother Billie Reeves is found murdered in her home, leaving her young son Kayden all alone. As Detective Harte delves into Billie's personal history, it seems that there is no shortage of potential suspects with motives, and no stone is left unturned in the race to find a killer.

I love this series, and find Gina to be refreshingly relatable, which is why I feel quite invested in her story. The inclusion of her vulnerabilities as she struggles through menopause adds a whole new dimension to this complex character, and I believe that this book, in particular, is all the richer for it.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.

This is book #12 in the Gina Harte series. Whilst part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone book. I love this series, and really like Gina as a character. She’s not perfect and certainly has her faults, but I can’t help but admire her! She finds herself working on a case of a murder of young single mum, Billie Reeves. I was immediately drawn into the storyline, shocked by the circumstances of Billie’s death and my heart broke for her son, Kayden.

The story was fast paced and grabbed my attention from the first page. The main storyline focussed on the investigation itself, which twisted and turned throughout the book. The author has done a fabulous job of keeping the killer’s identity under wraps, and my opinion on who it was swapped and changed as the book moved on. I certainly didn’t guess where it was heading and loved the red herrings and dead ends that the author chucked in just for good measure!

Not only did we get an amazing crime investigation storyline, but we also get another look into Gina’s personal life. I’m gutted at how things are going between her and Briggs, they seemed absolutely perfect for each other! I have no doubt that Briggs will come to his senses at some point soon, but until then I’ll just have to watch Gina making things worse for herself! I also love her menopause storyline, broaching on something which is always considered a taboo subject! Top marks to the author for including it and big hugs to Gina for everything she’s going through…I’m right with ya girl!

I think this was my favourite book of the series so far! I really got into the investigation, the characters all added their own something to the storyline and there were lots of secrets and lies to work your way through! This was a fabulous crime read, which I would definitely recommend!

This is the twelfth book in the Detective Dina Harte series by author Carla Kovach. I started reading this series late and normally read I read any series I follow in strict book order, but for whatever reason I seem to have read this one very randomly. Maybe because of that I have struggled to really get to grips with the Gina Harte books, that is until now. For me this one was much better, maybe a better plot or just me getting to grips with the characters.

Young mother Billie Reeves is discovered murdered at home in her house, while her four-year-old son Kayden sits outside. Billie’s life is complicated and there are plenty of suspects.

Billie and her sister Serena fell out when Serena discovered that her boyfriend had been calling Billie non stop. Serena decided she would not speak to Billie again and vowed she would make her pay for ruining her relationship.

Kayden’s father is Billie’s ex-boyfriend Shaun who disappeared from her life as soon as he discovered she was pregnant. Recently he turned up at Billie’s door, demanding to see Kayden and when she refused he said he would go to any length to see his boy.

Billie’s best friend Nadia is aware of Billie’s problems and suffering and was a constant sounding board for her. She knows Billie’s darkest secret that she promised never to tell a soul, but that changed when they had an argument.

The police already have plenty to investigate and suspects to question but when they discover about Billie’s late-night callers another theory is added. There was far more going on in Billie’s house than they first suspected and now someone had killed Billie and maybe prepared to kill again.

This is a good fast paced crime novel, interesting characters and plenty of twists and turns.

I would like to thank both Netgalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I'm a massive fan of this series and each novel has had the ability to surprise me. Gina and her team are likeable, realistic characters that you could imagine being mates with.
In this novel, a group of friends meet at a childs birthday party, but secrets are being held by a number of them and a few weeks later one of the friends is brutally murdered. Gina and her team are pulled in different directions to solve the case with a shocking conclusion that completely blindsided me

Another brilliant addictive read from this author as usual which kept me on the edge of my seat from the beginning until the end I just love this Gina Harte series.

All the characters were interesting with lots of goings on, just a brilliant book.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC which I have no hesitation in recommending.

I am a huge fan of the Detective Gina Harte series and have purchased and read all the previous 11 books. I was very lucky to get an ARC of the newest book - Her Deadly Promise and it was a twisty, thriller I could not put down! You do not need to have read the previous 11 as each book’s mystery stands on its own. You are reminded of Gina Harte’s personal history without rehashing the last 11 books, which I very much appreciate. This allows the new reader to pick right up at any point of the series very easily. However, I highly recommend going back and reading the series.

In Her Deadly Promise Detective Gina Harte is investigating the case of a young, single mother that has been murdered in her house while her son plays outside. As Harte dives deeper into the murdered woman’s life, she learns that the friends may know more then they are letting on. All the characters are well developed and the glimpses into each of the friends lives makes you realize that anyone can be the murderer. There are a lot of twists in this book and I was shocked when the murderer was revealed.

I cannot recommend this author and book enough! I will be purchasing this once it comes out so I can ensure I have the complete series!

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for sending this book for review considerations. All opinions are my own.

This is the latest book in the Gina Harte series and although I enjoyed it, it wasn’t my favourite for me to much time was spent on Gina’s problems, at times it felt like she was the story. The crime is a good one with lots of red herrings and false starts and I will read the next one.
