Friends are those we laugh with, share secrets with, or who provide us with a shoulder to cry on, or so Nadia, Billie, Meera, and Candice thought until one of them is murdered. Detective Gina Harte is struggling with her private life, her health, and the failure of her usual coping skills, but the sight of a tearful four-year-old waiting for a mother he will never see again spurs her on as she begins working on her latest case.

With baking hot weather and an uncomfortable working environment hindering the investigation Gina finds her focus changing from family to family as secrets begin to surface. When there is a second attack however it becomes apparent none of the friends or their families will survive their ordeal unscathed.

Her Deadly Promise is, amazingly, the twelfth in this excellent series and had me switching culprit continually whilst enjoying every twist and turn. I also enjoyed the characterisation of the four friends and how different they all were. None or all of them could have held the key to the whole thing and their interwoven stories were entertaining and exciting. The secondary storyline concerning Gina's messy home and work life was woven expertly throughout the investigation and will, it seems, continue to effect her for a while yet.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. I thoroughly enjoyed this and happily recommend it.

Loved it!! The Detective Gina Harte Series is definitely one of my favorites. I was hooked from the beginning and couldn't put the book down because I had to know who killed Billie. I'm not sure I would consider Billie, Meera, Candice and Nadia friends. Friends don't do what they did to each other. Between the wives and husbands, it was hard to guess who was behind everything. They all had problems. One of the reasons I loved this book so much, is that it kept me guessing until the end. I was shocked when the truth was finally revealed. I never saw that coming, not until Detective Gina Harte arrived on the scene and made an arrest. Briggs sucks!!! He better come to his senses and realize he's meant to be with Gina. I know he loves her. Gina definitely loves him. Briggs better be at Gina's house to get back with him, I hope it's not because he's getting married to someone else.

Definitely recommend the book and the previous ones in the series. This was a great mystery/thriller. Loved the characters, writing style and story. I can't wait to find out what's next for Det. Gina Harte. DCI Briggs better come to his senses. Look forward to reading more books by the author.

Love this series and this one definitely did not disappoint. I did not figure this one out - there were so many possible outcomes, I can honestly say, I wasn't expecting this one.

I do have to say, I understand that in the last couple of books, the author has shown a very different side of Gina. She's definitely showing her with less confidence, needy and more vulnerability. I can't say that I like it. I get it, but I don't like it. I hope to see her find her confidence and sure-footing again in the next one. This one finished with a cliffhanger and I want more!

Wow! What a book! I couldn't read it fast enough. The tension and pace were absolute magic! Brilliantly unsettling, with characters so deftly woven that you never quite know who – if anyone – you can trust. This book kept me gripped from beginning to end, whilst it's part of Detective Gina Harte series, it can easily be read as a standalone novel. A definite should read following the twists and turns of the latest investigation.

Detective Gina Harte is struggling. She is still grieving the loss of her relationship with her boss, who is now with a younger woman. Gina is also experiencing the symptoms of menopause that remind her that she was dropped for a woman who is a mother. The murder of a single mom begins the quest to find her murderer. There are too many suspects. As Gina and her partner investigate, they realize a group of friends that included the victim have a complicated web of deception. When another mom disappears from what appears to be a crime scene, the intensity of the case adds more pressure to Gina's already thin grasp on control. It's a suspenseful read with a cliffhanger for an ending. I can't wait to see what happens next!

I love the Gina Harte books, and Her Deadly Promise is full of turns and twists!

We start with the murder of Billie, a young mother who has some secrets. After that, we hop between the perspectives of Gina the detective, and two of Billie's friends. Candace and Nadia.

I really enjoyed reading this book and cannot wait for the next one!

Have really enjoyed all of this series and this was no exception. I liked that the author was able to deal with aspects of every day life aswell as the main storyline off the book. Was good to catch up with all the characters again. Looking forward to the next one.

Her Deadly Promise by Carla Kovach is book 12 in the Detective Gina Harte series. The suspense builds to a nail-biting conclusion throughout the book. Since this is my introduction to this talented author, I'm excited to explore her other works.

I am a huge fan of the Gina Harte series and this book did not disappoint. I loved that Carla wove some current and important issues into the book and she did it in a way that felt natural rather than it being forced on you and it didn’t detract from the main story in any way. The characters were really good in this book, even Billie managed to be a likeable character even in death. I thought I had figured out the ending but I really didn’t see what happened coming at all, always a sign of good writing to me. In fact I think the only complaint that I have about this book is that I got to the last page and it ended way too soon! I need to know what happens next so hopefully I won’t have to wait long for the next instalment.

This series just keeps getting better and better what can I say this is one of the best books yet in the Gina Harte series. I couldn’t wait to get stuck into this and knew that once I started reading everything else would be put on hold and read it in practically one sitting

This was such an engaging read and as always with this authors books the characters were engaging and relatable and loved how we got to find out more about Gina and her teams personal life in this story and how the theme of the menopause was brought out into the open and written into the story

I can’t wait for the next instalment of this series which would also make a fabulous tv dramatisation.

The author created a fabulous series starring DI Gina Harte. This is book 12 and I am not ready to say goodbye at all. I am looking forward to the next 12 (or preferably more 😉 ) books.

There is not only DI Harte, of course. Without her amazing team she would not be able to put so many baddies behind bars, nor find justice for so many victims. Her partner in crime is Jacob and together they can count on some recurrent police officers. And then there is Chris Briggs. He is the boss. I loved what he did for Gina Harte, but at the moment he is not my favorite person by far.

Gina has to deal with a brutal murder and a lot of lying and cheating people. The killer really knows how to hide their tracks, but not good enough to fool Gina and her team.

Apart from this complicated case, Gina also has some private matters on her mind. Will she deal with them as efficiently as she does with the criminals?

A very entertaining story that had me captivated. I never saw this coming and those are often the best stories where the author can fool you all the way through :). 5 stars

I’m going to start by saying that this is quite possibly my favourite book of the series so far!
This story was absolutely perfect for my liking.
There are so many fantastic characters in this storyline that had me suspicious, and so many lies been told between them all, that it kept me totally hooked all the way through.
Not only is the main story featured in this book, so engaging, the story around Gina Harte and her personal life is also one that has me totally invested in her too.
This is a very easy 5 stars for me, and after the last paragraph of this book…. I can not wait for the next one!

Another engaging read from Carla Kovach,, secrets are plentiful in this story and it’s not long before Gina and her team are trying to piece together the latest murder . What I really enjoy most about this series is how in each book, we see the personal life of Gina and the others run parallel to the main story. A fantastic five star read.

Twisty, turny, riveting, and emotional. This was a great and intense ride. Didn't expect it to be so good but wow!

Wow! This book was amazing! Totally loved every single part of it. Carla Kovach just knocked this one out of the park. The characters were flawless (in their own super flawed way). They brought the story to immediate life and never let me go. I read in one day. Great tension, twists and reveals. Do not miss this one! Highly recommend.

OMG!!!!! This one left me shocked and speechless from the very beginning all the way up to the very end. This was another fantastic read in this fantastic series. If you read my blog then you know that I am in love with this author and with this series so very much. There are so many reasons why but the main one being all the characters. They make the book and they make it special. I am especially attached to the main detective Gina Harte. It feels like I know her very well and that we are besties in real life. I guess that is what happens when you read a series that has this many books in it. I also love the dynamics Gina Harte has with all the other characters in the book. Whether it’s her colleagues, her family or even a murder suspect she has a connection with each of them. Next up is the plot. Who doesn’t like a good murder mystery with many suspects to choose from. This author always keeps me guessing until the very end. She adds so many twists and turns that I can never figure out who done and why. I love that. Who wants a book that you can guess the killer and motive right away. So that ending blew my mind. I never saw that one coming. In fact, I never saw anything that happened in the book coming. I was stumped the entire time. Carla Kovach really did a a great job on this one and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
