Alternating points of view between a woman whose baby son's life is threatened in a way linked to horrible events from her childhood, her mother and sometimes her best friend or her husband, this is a suspenseful story in which everyone seems to have something to hide (and something to find out). It kept me reading for longer than planned, so I finished it in less than 24 hours, with only a long pause to sleep and some shorter ones for unavoidable chores.
Recommended to everyone in the mood for reading about dark secrets, and who enjoys stories full of little (and bigger) twists.

Eve is very happy with baby son Kai
She hasn’t seen her mum in years
She hasn’t even told anybody that her brother died in the house that she grew up in
She has got to arrange for her mother to see her
But something happens in Kai bedroom
I had an ARC

Another brilliant read from this author as usual, a great storyline with plenty of twists, great characters and I loved it from the beginning until the end.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC which I have no hesitation in recommending.

This is a mind twist of a story about a new mother hiding a very troubled childhood from her husband and a tortured relationship with her mother. When her mother turns up uninvited to stay and her young child takes ill she starts to question is all as it seems and has her mother done the unthinkable again. As secrets and lies spill out from all corners their lives implode as we race to the thrilling conclusion. Not to be missed.

The blurb for this book doesn't do this book justice. i love the way this is written it kept me on the edge of my seat as the story unfolded and the secrets and lies start crawling out the cracks. the characters are leaking emotions of the page and i love that in a book.
the flow between the time lines is amazing and easy to follow, i found myself losing hours reading, i felt i was living the story instead of reading it. the characters are wonderful individuals with their own personality and i felt it with every change in the story. it also goes to show you can never truly know someone else only what they choose to show you.
I am sill in shock from the ending i didn't see that coming, this is one amazing book and author i can't wait to read more from this author.
Thank you to Netgalley/ Bookouture/Sheryl Browne for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I love Sheryl Browne and I was super excited to read this new book. It certainly didn’t disappoint!
I raced through it and there were plenty of twists and turns that kept me guessing the full way though.
It’s a well developed book with a killer ending. I’d certainly recommend it.

This started off as a great read and towards the end , it tapered off and I had to keep going back to re read it as it got confusing and the ending was inconclusive. I have read a lot more by the author and enjoyed them.

Children... those innocent little creatures you have bring in to the world. You have to protect and cherish them... always!

When you become a parent yourself and you don't have the best childhood memories, you swear you will not make the same mistakes. That's why you feel the best distance between yourself and your mum is the other side of the planet. Unfortunately mum does not live that far away and suddenly she arrives at your doorstep. ..

Maybe she has changed? Maybe you should give her another chance? Maybe what they say about history repeating itself is not true? But history clearly did not get the memo...

Thank God you have your best friend, her husband and your husband having your back. That's all you really need, right?

The author really succeeded in messing with my head. She is very subtle and that's why I am still thinking about the story. She never states when when on exactly leaving the reader wondering who was to blame. Only the last sentence brings the 'aha' moment about the who. I still have not figured out the how though. Time for some more reflection. ;)

I did like the story, but I have to admit I prefer it when at the end everything is crystal clear. At the moment it's still all a big foggy for me. 4,5 stars

Thank you

Whenever one of this authors books
Comes out I am always eager to read it and this one was no exception. It contained lots of twists and turns and a clever plot which kept the reader guessing

This author also covers a lot of topics during this book that a lot of people will be able to relate to and also brings these topics out in the open

This was a gripping read from start to finish and already eagerly anticipating this authors next book.

I a big fan of this author and yet again delivered a very gripping and addictive twisty read. Eve and Chloe have been best friend s since primary school always there for each other. both are now married Chloe to Steve and Eve to Dom they have had there first child Kai. Eve is very protective of him and as the story goes on you will see why. Eve has nothing to do with her mother Lydia .and when she comes home from work her mum is in the house and wants to stay the night .Eve did not have a good childhood her father was a controlling bully and she has not forgiven her mother for not doing more and she lost her baby brother. this story is about control lies jealousy. I so very recommend this book once you start you wont want to stop reading

My Review:
Loved!!!!! Evil comes in many different shapes and sizes in this world. Evil could be lurking around any corner. Evil could be your wonderful spouse, your nice neighbor or even one of your loving parents. In this book I didn’t know who or what to trust. Not all the characters were as they seemed and some had a darkness to them that they wanted to keep hidden. It had me guessing the whole way through. I was even starting to doubt myself at times. This author is no stranger to me. She writes with her heart and about topics that are deeply disturbing. This one was no different. For the first half of the book I needed tissues by my side. I felt what Eve felt when she was a little girl. I couldn’t imagine what she went through. It definitely affected her as an adult and made sense why she was the way she was. She was my favorite character in the book. When I read the blurb I just knew I had to read this one. It gave only a little away and I just knew I had to find out more. I couldn’t imagine how much more I was going to find out though. Now on to that crazy ending. The endings are what I live for in a book and this one had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn’t flip through the pages fast enough to find out what happened. Sheryl Browne nearly gave me a heart attack. I had to read it twice just to be sure. As usual I can’t wait to read more of this authors books. She really outdid herself on this one.

In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Her first child was a thrill to read! I flew through the book and although I have been deliberately obtuse in regard to the plot, all I can say is, read it – I don’t want to give any little detail away. I don’t want to ruin the experience of this spectacular psychological thriller. Every clue leads down a solitary road and believe me, it’s one you want to travel. This book is worth the cerebral investment and your brain will relish the time taken to pick apart the details. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sheryl Browne is one of my favorite authors.
And once again this book hit it out of the park.
Did I like the characters? Absolutely not not one bit. But sometimes that makes for a great story.
This book touches on a lot..family, affairs, murder, sickness, mental health, Munchausen syndrome by proxy. Wow I know a lot to cover in one book. Well written as always.
Mind was reeling at times wondering what exactly was going on??
Suspense up to the final page.
Bravo...until we meet again on your next book..don't keep us waiting too long Sheryl

Thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an early release of this book.

“Her First Child” is a domestic/family thriller by Sheryl Browne. I found this book to be both an interesting and frustrating read. What I found interesting was the medical research included - from stroke recovery (and how at times it must be very frustrating for the afflicted) to dealing with the death of a child (everyone grieves differently). What I found frustrating was that I didn’t like any of the main characters and not even some of the secondary ones either. I usually like having someone to cheer on and in this book I couldn’t find one, which didn’t make for an enjoyable read. Additionally, while the information was “hidden,” I found it difficult to know what - actually - was going on and what, actually, had happened. While I’d be willing to give this author another go, as this is her twelfth book, this one just didn’t work for me as I had hoped from the synopsis. If you like domestic thrillers that keep you guessing with twists, turns, uncovered half-truths, and wondering what really is going on - this book might be right your alley.

Sheryl Browne delivers again! Enjoyed this creepy domestic thriller! Lots of complex layers of lies, delusions and secrets. So many great characters.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book

I can’t believe this is the 12th book I have read by this author, what I did believe from prior reading was that it was going to be good….I would say this was my favourite ( so far )
Sheryl Browne always takes a diverse and often controversial subject and writes her story around it, the research done is always obvious as is the factual presentation that is weaved into the story and characters behaviour, I wont say what the subject matter is but it is emotive and one that pretty much all of us find abhorrent and fascinating
The story centres around a family and the wife’s Mum and their fraught past, their silent’ past with lots of ‘covering up’ and bad deeds done…the question is though by who, when and why…add to the mix a lifelong friend and her hubby and the scene is set for a gruesome exciting psychological thriller where you never quite know who to believe and what is going to happen
Some good inclusion of rehabilitation after a stroke in the book and the frustrations therein
Great reading and writing and very enjoyable

I don't know where to start. I still don't know (for sure) what happened or why. I am not even sure of the ending. This is one of the most suspenseful books I have read this year. This author is talented and gifted at weaving a cannot put down story. I didn't want to quit until I discovered the ending...and then I didn't discover the ending. This author left me with questions. I hope there is a sequel to this book of mystery and intrigue. The characters are just not likable...they just are not. Do not expect warm and fuzzy. That is not happening in this novel. The characters do come alive on the pages. I could picture them talking to each other...really yelling...I could picture the little boy and feel sorry for him...both of them. Grab a warm, cuddly blanket...settle in a cozy comfy chair...get a cup of steaming herbal tea and a snack. You won't want to get up...you won't want to quit. Be transported to the land of HER FIRST CHILD...whew...this book was sent to me by Netgalley for review. Thanks to them, the publisher, and the author for this electronic copy.
