This is book three in the series. This is a gritty crime thriller. The characters are both unlikeable and unlikeable. The story ended on a cliff hanger. Looking forward to the next instalment

I was so glad to see Gillian Godden had written a third Diamond Series book, Queen Of Diamonds. I am a gangland fan and every other book I've read that Gillian Godden has written has been such an easy, riveting read. I was eager to see how the Diamond family was faring.

It was, as all the Diamond Series is, a gritty, dark and pretty intense story. So intense I find I have read every book in the series in one sitting! I just can't leave them alone.

Patsy is running the gangland empire of her late husband, Nick. As we know there is always something to contend with. What Patsy doesn't expect is someone popping out o¹f the woodwork, claiming to be Nick's business partner. Especially when that someone is a woman!

Patsy is a woman who doesn't take any messing and she has a fight on her hands this time. Gillian Godden has again brought the authentic feeling gangland life. From the double dealing to the seedy underworld that the Diamonds are part of. It's all there.

I always feel like I am part of this dirty life as I read these books and Queen Of Diamonds is no different. I was clueless as to what would be happening next as Gillian Godden wove a tale so twisty that I was turning the pages like they were on fire almost. The multiple storylines all being woven together to bring a conclusion that wants me to beg for the next book now!

I do love gangland books and this author can keep up with the best. Another well written, authentic feeling story with memorable characters that stay with you. If you enjoy Mandasue Heller, Kimberley Chambers try GilIan Godden too. Thanks to Rachel's Random Resources, Boldwood Books and NG.

An enjoyable gangland thriller. Interesting, well-developed characters and a fast-placed storyline. I can't wait to see what Patsy Diamond gets up to next.

Gillian Godden’s gritty gangland saga about the Diamond family continues with the third exhilarating instalment, Queen of Diamonds.

Patsy Diamond is determined to do whatever it takes to ensure that her husband Nick’s gangland empire continues to thrive. Nick was not perfect and his ruthlessness was well-known, but he had built a legacy which Patsy is willing to do whatever it takes to protect. Patsy has got used to ducking and diving and rolling with the punches, but even she is shocked when a mysterious woman from Nick’s past turns up and drops an earth-shattering bombshell: she’s her new business partner!

Patsy immediately senses trouble, but she cannot turn Karen away because she could expose the Diamond family’s darkest secrets. Backed into a corner, Patsy needs allies not enemies – especially as a rival gang has just started a turf war and one wrong move could put her empire in serious jeopardy. With her loyalties torn, Patsy need to keep a cool head and her eyes on the prize in order to remain queen of all that she surveys.

If you loved Lynda La Plante’s enduring classic Widows, then you are going to devour Gillian Godden’s Queen of Diamonds. Full of strong women, high stakes, heart-thumping action, breath-taking intrigue and relentless suspense, Queen of Diamonds is a superb gangland thriller that you will want to devour in one go.

Another fabulous instalment in the Diamond family saga. The plot just thickens as the story gets more complex. I think you really need to read this series in chronological order rather than a standalone to appreciate the story.

Another continuation in the saga of the Diamonds and their associates. I'm really enjoying this series, it has some great characters and some not so.

It's full of lies and deceit and will keep you gripped from the first page to the cliffhanger at the end. A good old proper gangland story with drugs, prostitution, and people trafficking.

Patsy Diamond heads up this story, now her husband Nick is dead, she runs the show. She's as hard as iron and takes no nonsense. The other characters fit into the book around her and are as deep in crime as she is.
A really entertaining book that will hold your attention throughout.
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this excellent book. xxx

Wow! What an absolute rollercoaster of a read! Just when I thought the story was coming to end another bombshell was dropped. Patsy Diamond has made her mind up that she is going to take over the criminal and shady dealings that her late husband left behind. I like the character and whilst she is no criminal mastermind and is quite naive she is holding her own against the big boys. The ending was a shock and I’m really looking forward to the next instalment to see how the story pans out.

I am a big fan of Gillian Godden, and this book didn't disappoint. A recommended read.

This book begins with the funeral of Beryl Diamond, Patsy's grandmother-in-law (Nick's gran). Victoria (Patsy's mother-in-law), Sheila (Patsy's friend) and Patsy return home from the wake. They learned the real identity of the "Undertaker" - an anagram for Karen Duret. Larry, Patsy's lawyer/boyfriend, has arranged a meeting with Karen. Finally, Patsy can expect closure from the mysterious woman who claims to be Nick's partner in the underworld.

Lots of development and shocking revelations in this latest installment. Karen threatens to expose the Diamond family's secrets if Patsy does not help her. Karen has been expecting some issues in France and wants Patsy to help her out. Patsy cannot say no because... well, let's just say Patsy has a lot to lose if she does not help Karen.

The story is peppered with betrayals, double-crossing, dark secrets that tumble out of the closet unexpectedly, kidnapping, brutal killings and much more. I absolutely loved the storytelling and character development. The twists are mind-blowing. I didn't see them coming.

Speaking of twists, there's a shocking twist at the end. Jaw dropping and unexpected turn of events. I had to read the last chapter twice to make sure I read it right. I mean, woah! I didn't see it coming.

Queen of Diamonds is an intense, gripping, mind-blowing, shocking, dark and engrossing gangland thriller by Gillian Godden

This is a great gangster series from the author and the best yet. Multiple story lines, double dealing, murder, betrayal and drug dealing, all neatly wrapped up in a cleverly plotted book set in Glasgow. I love the host of characters, with a soft spot in my heart for Fin. The tension oozes out from the pages until the very last chapter, the cliffhanger setting it up beautifully for book 4! Patsy is an amazing character and I hope we catch up with her again soon! If you like the gangster genre, this is one for you. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

Queen of Diamonds by Gillian Godden
I Earc:NetGalley
Publisher:Boldwood Books
Publication Date: 09 Dec 2022
Genre:General Fiction, Mystery, and Thriller

Exceptionally impressive Patsy Diamond is back and in control of the legal and criminal aspects of her deceased husband's firm. As Beryl's funeral draws to a close, Patsy and her friends must make a decision. However, when someone unexpectedly shows up, determined to upset Patsy, things take a strange turn. I adore Patsy, and I must tell you that I liked this book. Worthy of further stars, in my opinion, 5. As head of the Diamond family, Patsy is determined to make her husband Nick's gangland empire a success at any cost. Nick was ruthless and ruthless, but she built a legacy that Patsy wanted her to protect. She feels troubled when a mysterious woman from Nick's past shows up, claiming to be Patsy's new business partner. Karen Duret seeks Patsy's help, but she has her pitfalls. Karen threatens to reveal the Diamond family's darkest secrets if Patsy refuses. Patsy needs the help of her trusted pals more than ever, but the streets suddenly become deadly when rival gangs become involved in a turf war.

This is another excellent addition to the Diamond series. From Scotland to Paris and back to Scotland. His story is about a dark and fascinating crime of kidnapping, betrayal, lies, and deceit. It's full of characters you like and characters you don't like. This book is about money laundering, prostitution, drugs, etc. I was hooked from the first page and couldn't take my hands off it until the end. The story ends on a cliffhanger, so I hope we don't have to wait too long for the next installment. If I have one criticism, it's the overuse of the word "girl." I've lived in Scotland all my life, but I've never heard that word as often as in this book. This is by far my favorite book in the series.

Diamond Series Book 3

Head of the Diamond family, Patsy is determined to make a success of husband Nick's gangland empire - whatever the cost. Nick was ruthless and cold blooded. but he built a legacy that Patsy wants to protect. So, when a mysterious woman from Nick's past turns up claiming to be Patsy's new business partner, she senses trouble. Karen Duret demands Patsy's help, but it comes with a catch. If Patsy refuses, Karen threatens to expose the Diamond family's darkest secrets. Patsy needs the help of her trusted allies more than ever, but when a rival gang start a turf war, the stakes suddenly become deadly.

Another fabulous addition to the Diamond series. We travel from Scotland - to Paris - then back to Scotland. This is a gritty and gripping crime story with kidnap, double crossing, lies and deceit. Filled with characters you'll love, and other you'll love to hate. There's a lot going on in this book, money laundering, prostitution, drugs and much more. I was hooked from the first page, and I did not put it down until the end. The story ends with a cliff-hanger. I hope we don't have to wait too long for the next edition. If I was to have one criticism, it was for the overuse of the word "lassie." I've lived in Scotland all my life and I've never heard that word used as often as it was in this book. This was my favourite book of the series, so far.

📚📖 Book Review 📖📚

📖 Book - Queen Of Diamonds
✍️ Author - Gillian Godden

Another book in the Diamond Series by Gillian. I absolutely love the style of this author. The story picks up really, where the last book left off. Patsy is picking up the pieces, after the loss of someone very close to her. She has gone from being a gangsters wife, to being at the head of the Diamond Firm. She has the full support of her friends/ladies but Patsy comes to realise, that you can’t always trust people in business. Trust no one!! I’m loving seeing how Patsy copes with taking the reigns and how she deals with things. Sometimes she needs a reminder to think of herself. I really hope there is another book with that ending! 🙏🏽🫣😉 Thanks netgalley for an ARC of this book, in exchanged for an honest review. Another great book in the series.
Patsy has decided to pick up the business where Nick, her late husband left off. But, getting things organized is not going to be as easy as it is in a boardroom. There are turf wars, a traitor, and lots of questionable people. But Patsy has to work her way through who she can trust and how she can keep the money rolling in.
This book is part of a series, and it would be best read in order.
Plot is great - has action, wheelings and dealings, romance, and lots of different characters.
*As always there is a cliff hanger, so I am eagerly awaiting the next book.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I already said more than once that I love gangland crime. I was a very happy camper when I was allowed to read this one. It's book 3, but I only picked in and got to know these recurrent characters in the previous book. As per usual there are some you love like a sister or a brother and others you cannot see them walking out the door fast enough.

And sometimes you are left with mixed emotions. You like someone one minute and the next you wish you could get rid of them in the blink of an eye.

Patsy Diamond is more determined than ever to take over and become the boss lady or the queen of diamonds. I can see her point. I would not mind being the boss lady either, but in my opinion you don't get to be the leading lady in a flash. You have to prove yourself and show you have earned the spot and you can look out for your 'family'. I don't feel like Patsy is strong enough for that. She is sometimes scared (when is the boss ever scared?). She does not have a faithful army of loyal people she surrounds herself with and she often enters the lion's den too unprepared.

The boss in my head is the one giving the orders. Not the one leaving everything to someone else without even knowing what they have planned.

This being said does not mean I did not enjoy the story. There were a few shocking revelations and if you ask me to pick a favorite character, it would be Freddie without any doubt. I loved his attitude and he was the one person Patsy could always count on. He kept his promises even though he did not really respect her very much.

Maybe Patsy was a bit too trusting... When dealing with gangland you can only trust people as far as you can throw them... 4 stars

Thank you
