This is a very cute book about a worm who loves to read books instead of eat them. Many other critters question this passion of his but he is not deterred in his mission to read even more! The illustrations pair well with the story. I would definitely recommend this for any litters as it encourages the joy of reading and following your passions.

I loved this super cute and quick read about Benjamin who loves to read you could call him a bookworm. The pictures were great and was a great way to introduce children to the library system.

Reading this was so much fun.

This book was super cute. It reminded me a little of Matilda, which may have been intentional, and I loved the moral of the story. Benjamin doesn't have to be like the other worms, and being different doesn't have to be a bad thing.

This was such a cute fun read. I really enjoyed it, and so didn’t my kids. They keep asking me to re-read it to them.

How adorable is this little bookworm? Rather read than eat :)

He visits the place I am dying to go to... it is on my bucketlist... the library of Congress.

Wonderful story, love the illustrations too...

I received a copy of this book through Netgalley. This is my honest review.

This is a cute little book about an aspiring literal book worm. Benjamin just wants to spend all his time reading, and like I can totes relate to that. He manages to make his way to a library where he marks every book that he reads. When the librarian catches him, instead of being angry with him, she's impressed and books a trip to take him to the Library of Congress, where he continues to read and mark books.

The illustrations were adorable and colorful and the mark that Benjamin was leaving in all of the books he read made me laugh. While I wouldn't want to read this book to kids ALL the time, I wouldn't mind a few rereads. Overall I give it 4.2 out of 5 stars.

I’m slightly in the fence with this one, I wanted to love it but just don’t seem to be able to connect with it. It sounded like a perfect storyline, a nice easy share with appeal to wide age but somehow just falls flat. I cannot put my finger on why. Maybe just not my style.

I got this on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review!

This was a really cute picture book, all about being different and following your passions! It gives a little bit of Ratatouille vibes, with Benjamin's journey to find the life he wants. Wish maybe we got more build-up with Benjamin's friendship with Miss Nicholas, considering that he IS a worm and the other woman reacted negatively to it!

The illustrations are also really pretty!

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Books for Benjamin is a super Cute picture book for children about a worm called Benjamin who lives with his family in the bins outside Mr Greens grocers. His family survive eating the rotting fruits and vegetables dumped into the buns each day. But Benjamin is more interested in reading books and is a real book worm (sorry couldn't resist lol). One night Benjamin sneaks inside and crawls between the pages of a newspaper hoping he gets taken home to somebodies house with lots of books. Benjamin gets a real scare when he's almost squashed and then eaten but soon makes some new friends who help him to achieve his dreams. This is so cute and Benjamin is the cutest worm ever. I also loved that the book mentions the Library of Congress and what it is and what's kept there. A super Cute book for all little bookworms.

Thank you so much Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC!

Books for Benjamin caught me off-guard. It was so much better than how I thought it would be and trust me, every single person who will read it, love it. Rouen did a brilliant job. The premise was adorable and he executed it perfectly. Just a thought - maybe it would have better if the cover were colourful? Young kids often choose books based on the covers, and how colourful they are. It's still attractive the way it is.

Benjamin is different than the rest of his family. He wants to read books and learn, not eat garbage. Through a series of adventures, Benjamin seeks to get away from his family so he can read more. He becomes a household name. The illustrations were great. I haven't read children's fiction much this year, but this was super fun. It is meant for kids around 2-8 years old. I really appreciated how it took a forgotten or even disliked creature like a worm and made it the hero of the book. I would recommend it to children and their families. Thank you NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this silly and educational read!

Thank you to BooksGoSocial, R.G. de Rouen and NetGalley for the advance copy of Books For Benjamin.

I read this story with my 6-year-old daughter. She enjoyed the story, as she is a big fan of books and libraries, and she enjoyed imagining Benjamin's adventures and talking about what they may look like in real life.

However, unfortunately she was not a fan of the illustrations and I'm afraid I did agree with her. They are done in quite a scruffy/sloppy style and she was (quite amusingly) confused as to why earthworms would have features such as hair and other 'human' attributes, whilst otherwise doing very 'earthwormy' things like living in compost heaps.

For non-US residents, this book is quite obviously written by a US author and confused my very British child, so I had to do a bit of translating (I grew up in the US) but it led to a fun discussion about the British Library, and I've now promised a trip there the next time we find ourselves in London!

My daughter has given the book 3 out of 5 stars, so that is what I will report here.

This cute book was about a book loving worm who read his way on up to the Library of Congress. It even gave some facts about the Library of Congress at the end.

This was a bit of a whirlwind. While I love anthropomorphism, I'm not a fan of the humans understanding him in this book or how he became part of the community and the copyright symbol being his mark for having read it. It's the odd kind of anthropomorphism, that feels like it's made up as one goes along? I don't know how to explain it, but I'm not into this work.

2 stars for the cute illustrations and plot before the library, though.

Books For Benjamin reminds me of the Disney movie Ratatouille in that it's a character who deviates from the norm and is ridiculed for it until he comes to learn that it's okay to be different. It was lovely to see a book about a cute little character who is so impassioned to read. I am all for instilling a love and appreciation of reading and books as soon as possible in children and this story does that. The inclusion of the copyright symbol as Benjamin's signature is probably the most adorable thing I've ever seen in the child's book and did make me grin from ear to ear.

Books For Benjamin by R.G.deRouen is one of the cutest children’s books I have ever read. I cannot wait to someday show the book to my 30 month old granddaughter. She absolutely loves 📚 books.

I'm one of those people that takes Children's literature quite seriously. If you are not like me, you will like this book, the illustrations are lovely and it's a good way to introduce children to libraries. Now for the ones that overanalyze: there are parts of the narration that without the drawings don't make sense and with the drawings only a little. The narration lacks smooth continuity, it feels a bit like a kid telling a story "this happened...and then this...". I know it's a book for small kids but there are thousands of examples of books for little ones where the narration is fluid. Lastly I could never forgive that worm for marking the books with ink, even when I can see the fun in kids looking for the mark.

Thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for this advance reading copy
