New characters and new situations build on an already existing world. The ponies grow and learn and eventually succeed in their quest. Definitely a must read for any My Little Pony fan!

Thank you to @netgalley and the publisher for this free eARC.

Having two girls aged 6 and 4 I think it's pretty much self-explanatory why I downloaded this title. Needless to say they loved it but so did I....
A dash of mystery, a slew of beautiful colors and a bunch of brave little ponies fighting together to save their world...

Nice little comic book for little princesses and their moms.

I highly recommend it.

This was a cute read and my daughter enjoyed listening and looking at the illustrations as I read. It was a fun time!

The book starts out with magic being tested once again, this time because one of the Unity Crystals has been stolen. The Mane 5 are off on another quest to save magic while also learning more about themselves and the ponies they call friends. This graphic novel helps build on what Netflix started and I think it works really well.

I think my favorite character is Izzy. I like that she can be unsure of herself and also on the weirder side. She is hilarious and keeps the jokes rolling. Each pony has their own personality though and I think we can learn something from each one.

My daughter was very invested in the story and kept asking me to read on even when it was coming up on lunch time. She didn’t want to put it down!

The illustrations are also nicely done. I just love the vibrant colors.

Overall, this was a fun read as me and my daughter both liked it. It could be a bit dry at times only because it’s hard to fully see the ponies personalities when it is written but it is still good.

It's been a really long time since I had anything to do with MLP, but this was such a cute and interesting story to hop right into! I love some of the changes that have been made and the new designs!

Description from NetGalley:
With magic returned to Equestria, the ponies are more united than ever—at least, until one of the Unity Crystals is stolen! Can Sunny, Izzy, Zipp, Pipp, and Hitch—plus trusty sidekick Cloudpuff—find the culprit before magic is gone for good? And where's Cloudpuff leading them, anyway? Is this...Canterlot?!

Explore a new generation of magic and friendship, from writers Celeste Bronfman, Robin Easter, and Mary Kenney, with art by Amy Mebberson! Collects My Little Pony #1-5.

My family has been enjoying the My Little Pony show recently. My son loves Pinkie Pie from Friendship is magic, so we showed him the Next Generation. He really liked Sunny. This is a continuation of Netflix’s MLP: The Next Generation. I do recommend having some knowledge of the Friendship is Magic series as well as Next Generation due to the cast of characters and the big mysteries. The collection is bright and colorful with true to series art. The dialogue and direction both feel natural to the characters. If you or your reader are fans of both MLP series, this is probably something to pick.

Overall: 4.5/5

Thanks so much for the ARC!

My 7 year old is a huge My Little Pony fan. This comic style book matches the most recent Netflix release of My Little Pony. She was absolutely thrilled to read this book with me! I’d say she’s too young to read it on her own as it’s quite long for a 1st grader. She loved the colorful illustrations and storyline. The comic style really keeps young kids attention and makes reading less daunting. It also almost feels like a tv episode or movie when the whole book is based on character dialogue. We will definitely be purchasing so she can read again! Definitely recommend to any My Little Pony fan!

4.5 stars!
A mane-tastic adventure of friendship and unity!

My Little Pony: Big Horseshoes to Fill by Celeste Bronfman, Robin Easter, Mary Kenney and art by Amy Mebberson is the first volume in this new My Little Pony Series and was a fun filled mystery adventure to save magic. After the awesome adventures with the Mane-ificent 7, a new troupe of ponies are here to explore and live their own adventures. When one of the three crystals that supply their world with magic is stolen, all of the ponies’ magic begins to glitch. Will the new group of friends be able to reunite the crystals and save magic or will it create a new normal? Let’s follow Sunny, Izzy, Zipp, Pipp, Hitch, and the super awesome sidekick Cloudpuff, and their new adventures!

First off, I love this new generation of ponies! They are similar to the previous group, yet have complete identities and stories of their own! I did things a bit backwards by reading this first and then watching the movie that introduces them, so I was a little confused. As a whole, there is some backstory that is only in the movie that will come up in the story, but it will not leave you completely lost, by no means.

It has so many themes built into the story, such as unity, diversity and inclusion, friendship from different perspectives, being authentic on social media vs creating personas, and it’s only the beginning. With five volumes of stories to tell, I am pretty excited to see where this goes! There is an overarching story with several mini stories within, kind of like multiple episodes making up a season of a show. Due to this, it was a little confusing to follow the story at first, since it goes completely off topic for one of the side stories. But that story also stands as a way to get to know some of the characters a bit better.

Additionally, there are many things that directly correlate to our world and open up space for discussions within families and schools. Things like boundaries on social media; oversharing vs sharing just enough to help others and vulnerability vs fear based posts. Although there are some areas that visually feel a bit too much due to the wording on the page, it could come off a bit overwhelming for some readers, so having support ready will help.

The illustrations are so beautifully designed and are in full alignment with the My Little Pony art from the films and tv, but with an edge. It’s beautiful coloring and expression through the lines and creates the full extent of emotions that the ponies go through at different times.

This is a great middle grade graphic novel and will do well for ages 8-12, with the lower ages having some support. It is great for family reading as well as school and will be fun for everyone! If you love My Little Pony, this new team of friends will excite you!

Next book:
As the story leaves us on a cliffhanger, I am eagerly waiting for the next issue! Still to come, My Little Pony Vol 2-5 (names TBD).

My daughter and I really enjoyed this! She was giggling and enjoyed this story so much. I was also entertained so it was great all around. She can't wait for it to be published to be able to read it over and over. Thank you so much @netgalley for giving us the e-ARC.

First off, this definitely requires an understanding of the reboot “Mane 5”. I’m not so much a fan of the new series, but I have enjoyed the comics in the past and decided to jump into this one. It is a collection of issues 1-5, which is why it seems to suddenly stop and start at tangents.

Overall, the artwork was really cute and the story was interesting. It’s not bad a continuation of the series.

What a fun start to a new generation of ponies! This Volume starts off right after the events of the movie and brings readers on a fun new adventure. I loved the story and was very excited to see a familiar face come back, which I was not expecting. Excited for the next volume to see what will happen next!
