Overall This was a really cute story.
Did it follow all of the typical rom-com storylines... Yes. Did I find myself loving the story and wanting a second book following his sister and brother... Also Yes.

The only thing I would say that bothered me a little was that when Legs was talking that it often sounded like she was much younger then her age actually was. Other than that Loved IT!!!!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to listen to this book in exchange for an honest review.

For a clean book, this one was actually pretty sexy. I really enjoyed this book and the dynamic between the characters especially Liam's family.

Great romance by Katie Bailey. The plot is similar to T. L. Swan's "The Stopover" but a more PG version. Annie finds herself on a plane next to Liam, who seems grumpy and standoffish at first. When their flight gets suddenly canceled, they find themselves sharing a room for a night. To Annie's surprise, she finds out that Liam is the owner of the company that she just got a job at.

I liked Annie's character because she contrasted so well with Liam. They are so different that it makes their chemistry that much more exciting. Annie was wild and spontaneous, unlike Liam's calm and firm personality. I liked hearing both of their perspectives as well because we could watch as their feelings for each other unraveled.

It was an enjoyable experience reading this book. I wouldn't say that it was amazing and full of original ideas but I didn't not like it. I would read another one of Bailey's books if I had the chance. Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the audiobook copy in exchange for an honest review.

Featuring ~ dual 1st person POV, grumpy/sunshine, opposites attract, forced proximity, one bed, office romance, boss/employee, slow burn, no steamage, rom com

Annie & Liam
I thought these two were great! There were some funny moments that I actually laughed out loud about and I rarely do that. OMG when he was singing to One Direction ~ what a hoot!!

Most of the side characters were great, except there's always a few of course. Liam was the perfect doting uncle to Legs and she was a great addition to the story. Speaking of Legs I am glad that Annie didn't have to wait too long to get clued in on who she was. I was afraid that was going to take ages and make me mad, but nope all good. In fact, there was really no conflict between them, which is rare.

So I tagged this one as an office romance ~ boss/employee, but there technically wasn't much going on in their relationship when they worked together.

I love how the grand gesture was as adorable as the meet cute. I'd be really interested in reading more from Katie in the future.

Narrated by Melissa Moran and Jason Keller for 9 hours and 31 minutes, easy to follow at 2-2.5x. Jason's voice was great for Liam, but I wasn't a super big fan when he did other impressions, even males. He gave proper emotion when he was talking about his mom though. I don't have any complaints about Melissa's narration.

Thanks to Dreamscape & NetGalley for providing an audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.

If you like your female lead characters VERY sunny and quirky, and you male lead characters VERY grumpy and handsome, then this book is for you.

Annie and Liam have a meet-cute worthy of a Meg Ryan romantic comedy, and then come to realize (after spending a completely platonic night together in a hotel room after an airplane snafu) that Annie is Liam's new employee. Whoops!

They spend the entire middle of the book fighting against their feelings, but, of course, their emotions are just too much to deny in the end (I mean, technically a spoiler, but you knew that was gonna happen, right?). Along the way, we learn that Annie really is that quirky (but apparently quite smart, just ... not remotely so in her interpersonal dealings) and Liam is a secret softie who adores his niece and has abandonment issues after losing his mom at a young age. Oh, and despite being super outwardly straitlaced, has a bevy of beautiful tattoos (I defy you to find a tattooed person IRL who doesn't have at least one regrettable ink patch somewhere on their body, but whatever).

This is all very vanilla, and quite chaste overall (no heaving bosoms or throbbing members here), and despite its getting VERY bogged down in flowery, "you're-the-one" language the likes of which I haven't heard since watching "Felicity," it's not half bad. There's a tossed-in villain in the form of Annie's ex who leads to a whole "misunderstanding" plot that wouldn't go amiss in a Three's Company plot, which is a little cheap, but I guess there needed to be a big bad somewhere to pervert the course of true love (and then allow it to get right back on track).

Sometimes I get a bit worried that the audio narration of a book will be different/bad from the voices I have set in my mind from when I read the book, and I'm very happy to report that was not the case here! I loved the narration of this book, I LOVE this book, and I love Liam Donovan :)

Read/Listen to this book if you like:

Thank you, Dreamscape Media & Netgalley for a copy of this ALC. It was a great re-read of one of my favorites!

I kind of had a hard time with this one. It didn't catch my attention very well. The male narrator was kind of annoying when it came to a female talking in the story. I also felt like they could have chosen a better male to narrate Liam's chapters.

I feel like if I was to have read this instead of listening to the audio I would have liked it better. There was minor swearing as well and having to hear those words really bothered me.

I did however like Annie and her bubbly personality. I enjoyed the grumpy x sunshine trope in So that happened but overall, this book wasn't really for me. Again, that might be just because of the narrator and actually reading it most likely will change my mind. I just kept zoning out while listening and kept forgetting what was happening. The narrators really do make a difference!

Opposites attract in a hilariously grand fashion! She's a mismatched, late arriving, flurry of activity that radiates sunshine and he's a stringent, rule following, schedule adhering grump. A match made in heaven, right? Turns out she is also extremely driven in her career and more than just competent while he is also a bit of a rough exterior with marshmallow interior type of guy. I seriously laughed out loud several times while listening to this book as well as had a few ahhh moments too! The characters are well fleshed out and realistic. I absolutely am in love with Leggs and Harry Styles, you'll have to read the book to see if you love them too! No spoilers here so that is all I will say about them for now. The plot is a new twist on opposites attract with a touch of enemies to lovers at the very beginning. I have to say, it was a fun way to get away from real life for a while. The dual narration was quite well done and I really hope that we will see more of the other characters in future books. Could we be on the cusp of a new rom com series? I certainly hope so! This is my first book by this author and I sure don't want it to be my last!

This is your typical well written rom-com. If you are a fan of these types of books you should love this one. The characters are great as is the writing.
When Annie has a plane to catch that winds up delayed she finds herself in the bed of a tall incredibly handsome stranger. Nothing really happened aside from a little cuddle but when she wakes he’s simply gone. That’s just fine with her since she is incredibly embarrassed, or would be if she ever had to see him again, which she doesn’t, right?
Well, the universe is out to get poor Annie because Monday morning, when she arrives at her new job, there he is. Mr. Liam Donavan, her new boss.
Now she is working for him and well, he’s extremely attractive. The HR rule book doesn’t necessarily say outright that you shouldn’t share a bed with your boss; it does have issues with work dating. So, she’s just fine with pretending it never happened. He's not her type. He’s rude and abrupt. At least she keeps telling herself that.
However, before long she finds that underneath all that grump. She finds that it’s getting harder and harder to fight off her feelings. Then something happens that has the ability to change the course of everything.
This is a cute story. The writing is great with likable characters all around. You find yourself getting more and more drawn into the lives of the characters and really root for them through the complications.
I really enjoyed this story.
If you like audio books, this one is fantastic. I received a copy from NetGalley and I absolutely loved it. There are two narrators who really bring the characters to life. Definitely recommend this one.

3.5 stars

Give me a sunshine main character falling for the Grumpy dark cloud.

This book starts out in disaster and only gets worse for them.

Annie is moving home after a failed relationship that bleed into her job (working together) She is starting over fresh with a new job and is looking on the bright side. NOW does she say the wrong thing and keep sticking her foot into her mouth yes she does. But she's upbeat and looks on the bright side of everything.

Liam is tight-laced and tight-lipped rarely smiling or joking. People are afraid of him. The only people that truly know him is is brother sister and his niece who the grumpy side isn't out with her.

After that disaster of a flight and night they never thought they would see each other again. Until Monday morning Liam's company welcoming his new employee that will work one on one with him is non other than Annie.

This has the most awkward meet-cute sunshine/grumpy romance. Where once you meet your person you want to embrace it and start living as soon as you can.

I also love the family he has the banter between him and his siblings are great and the brothers work together which in itself is funny.

This is a must read book! It is filled with happy little accidents that will warm your heart and leave you wanting more. This is a book that I did not want to end. The narration was superb and kept me engaged.

I struggled to finish this audio book. I found the main character immature, boring and unlikable. I am amazed at the positive reviews. Maybe it was just me but I did not care for this tale.

So That Happened- Katie Bailey
"I spent the night with a hot, grumpy stranger in an
airport hotel.
No, not like that. Get your mind out of the gutter. It was
just sleeping. And... maybe a little cuddling.
Long story short, I embarrassed the heck out of myself.
But at least I never have to see him again.
Except the universe is clearly out to get me, because
Monday morning, I arrive at my new job and who's the
first person I see?
Hot stranger himself: Liam Donovan.
AKA my new boss.
AKA Annie, you are so freaking screwed."
I absolutely loved this book! I don't normally gravitate
towards workplace romances, but I'm sooooo glad I
read this one! SO CUTE!
You'll love this if you like:
-workplace romance
-One bed
- grumpy/sunshine
And as an added bonus, I LOVE his relationship with
Legs (IYKYK).

ARC

“It could never be a mistake to love you, Annie. Loving you is a privilege. An honor, I don't take lightly. and I want to keep on loving you every single day, for the rest of my days.”

AAH THIS WAS SO CUTE! If you check my goodreads updates about this book I was already in love with in from 2%. To quote myself “I’m 6 minutes in, don’t know the MCs name but I know she’s 1/8th Canadian and can’t stop saying sorry so I already love this!”

So That Happened starts on an uncomfortable meeting with a hot grumpy stranger on a plane. When the plane unexpectedly is delayed and everyone must stay at the airport hotel, Annie runs into her ex and his new wife, so of course she uses the hot grumpy stranger as her fake boyfriend, which somehow leads to them sharing a hotel room together. Thinking she’ll never see this man again Annie forgets about him, until Monday when she starts her new job and realizes her new boss is also the hot grumpy stranger, Liam Donovan.

I love Liam Donovan, he’s hot, grumpy (but a secret cinnamon roll), tattooed, looks great in a suit. Whats not to love! He’s also an amazing father figure to his niece and truly loves and cares for his family.

I am happy that the main conflict in this story was easily solved and was not anything major that compromised the relationship between the two MCs. There is steam in this book but no spice, not even a mention of spice. There are kissing scenes but nothing more. Which kinda shocked me (it does say in the synopsis that this is the case) because Annie’s BFF every early on mentions that Annie needs to act like she’s in a spicy romance book.

I received an audiobook version and really enjoyed the narration! — was perfect as Annie and kept me giggling throughout the book. I do wish that the male narrator was different. — did an amazing job but Liam is described as having a rough low voice and the current narrators voice didn’t really fit that description. From having chapters of Annie describing his voice and mannerisms to his first chapter I was a little shocked and thought I misheard her descriptions. Also his ‘feminine’ voice for the female characters was a little cringe worthy…

If you want a dual POV, grumpy x sunshine, slow burn, romantic comedy, that’s closed-door, please read this! I am seriously hoping Katie Bailey writes Lana Mae’s story next!

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an advanced audio copy for an honest review. I love you guys 💕

This book was so cute! I don't think I've ever read anything by this author before but I'm definitely going to find some of her other books. The book was clean and the story was just darling.

This book gave me Meg Ryan 90s rom com vibes! It was such a quirky, charming read that I thoroughly enjoyed. It was nice to put this audiobook on and chill out for my commute. You couldn't help but root for Annie and Liam after they had an awkward meet cute on an airplane. I had a very enjoyable few hours listening to my first Katie Bailey book. I look forward to reading Liam's sister's book soon!

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Read if you love:
🥎 Liam Donovan (I could really stop here. He’s just 🥵. You should read this book for him alone.)
🥎 One bed
🥎 Forced proximity
🥎 Extra grumpy/Ray of freaking sunshine
🥎 Opposites attract
🥎 Company bonding activities
🥎 Workplace romance
🥎 The noughties
🥎 Perfect one liners
🥎 Close knit siblings
🥎 Soooo much awkward and the list could go on…

𝘞𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥𝘯’𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵. 𝘐’𝘮 𝘢 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘥𝘳𝘢𝘸𝘯, 𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘦𝘳-𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘨𝘳𝘪𝘥. 𝘚𝘩𝘦’𝘴 𝘢 𝘑𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘗𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝘈 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘳𝘢𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘶𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘦. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘳𝘢𝘺 𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦’𝘴 𝘯𝘰 𝘩𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘬.

Can you tell that I absolutely, positively freaking loved every second of this book?! Like so so much. I have no words for Liam Donovan just 🥵🥵🥵. He was like a multilayered present that just got better as every layer was revealed. He was so full of surprises and so so grumpy but a total closet cinnamon roll in the end. Annie uncovered the very best parts of him and I love that they were reserved just for her. And I know up until this point most of my praise has been for Liam, but I loved Annie just as much. She was just an absolute joy to read about. I loved her self-confidence and the fact that she was unapologetically herself. She totally owned her quirkiness. Katie Bailey is officially the queen of meet-cutes in my book. The whole airplane/airport/hotel debacle was all things hilarious and cringey from start to finish! And there are so many more gems in this story — boy bands, Miss Congeniality references, cringeworthy but hilarious one liners, the team softball game, Annie’s candy, Legs and her relationship with Liam, the ride or die sibling bond between Liam, Luke and Lana Mae and Mindy rounding out the whole gang. I legit laughed out loud A LOT! This book came to me exactly when I needed it. Katie Bailey has solidified her place in my heart as an automatic one-click author.

Annie and Liam are brought to life by fantastic narrators!

The Grumpy sunshine trope is one of my favorites. Add in the fact that there is only one bed and the strangers end up actually working together, and this girl could not be any happier.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for a copy of this audiobook. This is my honest voluntary review.
