Cute little romcom book. Not my usually genre but once in a while my guilty pleasure is reading a book just like this.

Quick read with some very unbelievable plot points (but hey, it’s a romcom). Not a spicy romcom which is what I prefer.

There actually were some laugh out loud scenes in this book. Liam was a great character but not too perfect which is a pet peeve in male lead characters for me. Annie however…she was just over the top to the point where it was annoying at times. She was written as so immature and not so bright… despite the fact she’s an intelligent data analyst.

Overall this book was cute and when I am in the mood for another romcom I’ll definitely come back to this author

Things are NOT going well for Annie. After being bullied out of her job, she is moving back home to Atlanta to start a new job. At the airport, she runs into her ex and his pregnant wife. She hides in the bathroom to avoid them, and almost misses her flight. No sooner than she settles in her seat between a chatty older woman and a hot grump, they announce there are issues and they have to deplane. Eventually, the flight is delayed and they are sent to a hotel. She is forced to share a room with the hot grump because there are no more rooms left- at any hotel.
A few days later, she walks into her new job and discovers her boss is none other than the hot grump- Liam. The more time they spend together, the more she realizes there is to Liam. Liam also realizes she is not a flighty hot mess like she initially appeared.

This is cute and funny. I laughed aloud several times, but there were some cringy attempts at humor, too. I really liked Liam's arc- perhaps because I can identify him being the socially awkward introvert.

The audiobook is narrated by Melissa Moran and Jason Keller. Overall, both did a decent job- my only complaint is the female dialogue during Liam's chapters (Jason Keller).

I received an audio copy in exchange for an honest review.

My Thoughts: I absolutely adored this book. The story is narrated by Annie, in her POV. I flew through the audiobook in just a day or two, I was in tuned to what happened between Annie and Liam. Annie is strong and independent, but when her walls breaks down, she hides in the bathroom. Liam is also a strong character, but puts major walls up and does not let many people in. I loved the tropes this follows, grumpy vs. sunshine and enemies to lovers. Annie and Liam are absolutely perfect together and has a cast of supporting characters that are fantastic. The banter between Liam and Annie, and the chemistry was off the charts. The narrators really do a good job at pulling you into these characters, rooting for them, they made me feel like I was there with Annie and Liam. I hope the supporting characters get some spin off books, especially Liam’s sister, Lena. The characters were well developed with depth, witty banter, mad chemistry, and creative. The author’s writing style, which I loved, was complex, multifaceted, funny, crisp, and intriguing. The book was already previously released, but the audiobook releases tomorrow and I would HIGHLY recommend picking up for a closed door, swoony, literally laugh out loud romantic read!

I love a good grumpy/sunshine trope and this definitely fit the part. The female character was wonderful- cheerful and unequivocally herself. Plus, I liked the added piece that the male took care of his niece. It was a cute addition and helped us see he had a non-grumpy side even early on.

🌀Synopsis
Annie is ready for a new challenge and a new job, plus she’s headed home to get it. That is, if their flight ever takes off. It seems there are mechanical issues and in a twist she’s now going to be stuck in a hotel room with one of the grumpiest people on the plane- Liam.

Liam is missing his niece’s birthday party and not happy to have to share space with Annie. Worse, he wakes up wrapped around her. They finally get to their destination again and he’s happy to never see Annie again. That is, until their new employee walks in on Monday. Not sure who is more shocked Liam or Annie.
They throw themselves into their work and find they are spending more and more time together. They finally throw the fraternization rules out the window and decide to give a relationship a try just as they are up for a prestigious award. A malicious ex steps in and almost costs them everything.

What a cute rom-com. l legit laughed out loud when I was reading this. Anne and Liam have the best meet-cue

They meet while traveling and get grounded and guess what accidentally stuck in the same hotel room. I mean I was killing myself laughing

I mean Anne's narration was so funny - she had the best little one-liners. I died

Liam was the perfect cinnamon roll- he is the worst at first impressions and comes off as super mean but he isn't. Having his POV helped with this overall story

This was beautifully funny and cute!

Melissa Moran and Jason Keller did a great job with each character - they got the true emotions in the voices

This book was fun & funny. Very entertaining read. I didn’t love the male narrator’s female voices. It was grating.

Familiar trope but also unique. Last quarter was pretty cheesy but I was committed at that point. Overall a cute story and quick listen. Narrator was great.

Such a fun and swoon worthy romance!

I loved getting to know quirky Annie and uptight Liam throughout the course Irvine this book. Not only do these two have fabulous chemistry between them, they are hilarious and adorably endearing. I knew that every time I picked up this book I was going to smile like a fool and laugh out loud(yes, even in public - #no regerts)

I love the inner dialogue for these characters as well as the delightfully awkward and entertaining situations these two find themselves in on multiple occasions throughout the story. The cast of characters is delightful and the story is compelling, entertaining and heart warming. This was just what I needed to read right now!

Read this if you love stories with:
💖 grumpy/sunshine
💖 one bed
💖 fake relationship
💖 forbidden romance
💖 cinnamon roll hero

Honestly, if you're even interested in picking up this story - you should so pronto, you won't regret it 😉

This is the ultimate Romantic meet cute.
But that’s not all. It’s a Rom-com, full of Humor, deep family ties and a string of seemingly bad luck.
What happens when that seemingly string of bad luck turns into the opposite?
Two people brought together by an embarrassing run in with an ex at the airport. Their journey will have you laughing out loud.
I listened to the audio book version of So That Happened.
I didn’t like how the guy would do a females voice and Vice versa. It would have flowed better if everyone did their own parts. Each character should have only 1 voice.
I really enjoyed this book. And gave it 4 stars because I would recommend it to anyone asking for a title on this genre.

Annie and Liam spend the night together in a (completely ridiculous and unrealistic) travel mix-up. Shortly after, Annie starts a new job and (surprise!) Liam is her new boss. Will they catch feelings?

This book had a rough start, but it got a little better. I really enjoyed the cinnamon roll hero that was Liam, though the writing explicitly referring to him as such was weird. Liam's family, and Legs in particular, was pure gold. The narrators did a nice job bringing the story to life.

Most of what didn't work for me was Annie. She was a cliched caricature of a mid-20s woman who started off super annoying and mellowed out a little toward the end, but there were still far too many Brene Brown references for my preference. I also really struggle with buying into insta love and this was the epitome of that. So overall, this was not for me when I know there are far more interesting romance novels out there.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for providing me with an advance listeners copy to review!

So That Happened was such a fun book. The story follows Annie. Annie had some travel issues that led to her ending up with a stranger in an airport hotel. That stranger just so happens to be her new boss, but in the moment neither of them knew it.

Right from the start I loved Annie. Our first glimpse of Annie is her running for a plane she did not want to miss. She was full of jokes and sarcastic quips and she instantly became one of my favorite characters. To put it simple, Annie is a hot mess and that leads to a lot of laughs. However, you are not laughing at Annie, you are laughing with her.

Liam who comes off as a jerk from the start is someone you learn so much about and see him grow throughout the story. Annie was perfect for Liam and I really enjoyed watching their relationship progress.

Outside of Annie, Liam had a big support system with his brother, sister, and his niece “legs”. They are truly sibling goals. They are so close and are such great support systems for each other.

The story is on the predictable side but the characters are so good you don’t even care if you can see what’s coming. There’s no way you can get through this book without falling in love with Annie and Liam.

3.75-4. This story is told in dual POV.

The female narrator chosen for this story did a good job bringing the female lead to life. Her voice fit the personality I would have pictured the character to be.

The male narrator took some getting used to. His voice was to much like news reporter/announcer, and while he grew on me I still thought he was ok.

Overall I enjoyed this story. It is a sweet, cute rom com with lovable characters. From beginning to end I was drawn into the story.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen and review this audiobook.

So What Happened by Katie Bailey

This is a slow burn very clean Rom Com. Annie is a data specialist for Liam's company. Annie vows to never mix work with romantic relationships. Before, Annie works with Liam she gets stuck in a hotel with a guy they sleep together and cuddle but no sex. Anyways she goes in to do her first day on her new job and low and behold the guy she slept with at the hotel is a her boss.

I like the mix of Liam and Annie at work. Liam actually listens and values Annie's thoughts on improving his app. Annie's past experience was never like that being valued and heard on the job by her superiors.

I like the way this romantic comedy went it was slow but sometimes you need slow. I thought some things was quirky but it felt like an honest slow romance forming between Annie and Liam it made it feel genuine. The relationship did not feel rushed and it was the perfect mix of humor and story.

I also like legs that is such a funny nickname for a little girl but I liked it anyways. I enjoyed the family dynamic in Liam's family with his bother and sister as well as his sister daughter legs.

If you like slow burning, family oriented, romance comedy then this one will be for you. Sometimes we all need a clean funny fast paced romance. This one kept me engaged the whole way through.

Melissa Moran and Jason Keller narrated this audio book and did a good job bringing the characters to life along with the story. I rated this a four star read and recommend this to rom com fans. I will be looking forward to other books Katie Bailey writes in the future. I am a new fan of her rom com.

Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for an audio version of this book for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

This is a delightfully slow burn. If you like that, give it a try. If you don't, maybe skip it. I happen to love it. The narrators of this audiobook were great! I love when you get two narrators for audiobooks for dual POV books.

This was a heartwarming workplace romance with a fun meet-cute, a forbidden love angle (dating the boss) and a huge cinnamon roll hero who plays father figure to his niece and is sure to make you swoon. My first book by Katie Bailey (and definitely not my last). I was so excited to see this one available on audio. Recommended for fans of Sarah Adams or Melanie Jacobson. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an digital copy in exchange for my honest review!

Annie spends a night with a hot grumpy stranger, Liam, in an airport hotel, only to find out soon after that he is her new boss...
This closed door, grumpy-sunshine, opposites attract, forced proximity, workplace romance rom-com was light hearted and lol funny. I loved Annie's quirkiness, although it did feel a bit over the top at times. I also thought the ending was rushed, I would've loved to see more of what happened. I listened to the audio book, and I loved the dual POV narration.
I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

So That Happened is a sweet simple workplace rom-com. It was a lighthearted and quick read. The dialogue was occasionally a bit too cheesy for my liking, but it was overall enjoyable.
