I like the variety of stories in this anthology. I especially enjoyed how many different art styles were featured.

A collection of short stories from South America.
Of all the different types of mythology I have read about, I've had the least amount of exposure to South American mythology and stories. So I was incredibly excited to discover this book. The illustrations are absolutely adorable, perfect for middle grade readers. Plus, it introduces kids to a whole different culture. When kids come in looking for mythology, the instantly go for Greek, Roman, or Egyptian. Not that there is anything wrong, but that means all these other wonderful stories are getting ignored!
When this book comes into my library I will be spending some time bulking up on South American stories. I'm sure once they get a taste for these stories, they will need more.

I'm always ready for a good folklore collection, and this one did not disappoint! This book is a mix of tales that feels both new and familiar. The art is charming, and aides in bringing the more fantastic element to life on the page. Whether your an enthusiast or just want something other than Europe, it's hard to go wrong with this one.

Another wonderful entry in the Cautionary Tales and Fables series, this time focusing on stories from South America. The stories cover a variety of topics and tones, though they may skew towards a younger audience. That said, there is still something for readers of all ages to enjoy in this anthology, especially if they are interested in mythology and folklore in general.
