Bee and Flea are back at it with another STEM mystery. In this mystery, the disappearing puddle and returning a bear cub are a tall order. This highly illustrated early chapter book is great for beginning readers. The STEM themes and humor collaborate seamlessly.

Cute chapter book, would be great for kids interested in insects or the outdoors, but not one I’d recommend. There were a lot of words that may be unknown to kids. The F.L.E.A. Quiz at the back of the book helped shed some light, but maybe a glossary of words at the start or end would’ve been more useful. I didn’t like the way Flea talked to Bee or brushed her off all the time. She didn’t really seem like a good friend to Bee.

I received an electronic ARC from Owlkids Books through NetGalley.
Bee and Flea are back for a second adventure. Bee wants to become a full agent of F.L.E.A. but feels something goes wrong each time she attempts to prove herself as an agent. Flea encourages her to relax and enjoy life rather than stay focused on the job all the time. They are invited to a puddle party. Flea is excited and convinces Bee to come too. Bee has to learn to conquer her fear of water and to be less intense. By the end, both friends are ready for the next party and to be together for work.
I appreciate the information on the water cycle and life cycles of water creatures woven into the story. The quiz at the end offers readers a chance to learn more science.

Bee and Flea are back on the job. In this book, they are invited to a puddle party. Flea is very excited about the games and Bee is nervous about being underwater. They do not see eye to eye and have a bit of trouble communicating, but with humor and a willingness to try and be the best F.L.E.A agents possible, puddle problems are solved... until the next rainstorm.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to review this book.

Bee and Flea are agents of the Fenced-in-Area Law Enforcement Agency (the F.L.E.A. for short), and in this story, they go to a party in a puddle of water. There they meet the creatures living in the puddle, Bee has to confront her fear of water (she doesn't swim), and they have to solve the mystery of why the water in the puddle is disappearing.

This is a early chapter book geared for ages 6-9 that teaches STEM through stories. This book looks at the water cycle. It includes charming black and white illustrations to accompany the text.

Bee & Flea and the Puddle Problem by Anna Humphrey is a fun new tale that is sure to delight even the most reluctant readers.

The adventures these insects go on is fun and engaging. I will be buying this one for my classroom and school when it comes out on April 18, 2023.

Thank you to NetGalley and Owlkids Books for this copy in exchange for an honest review.

Bee & Flea and the Puddle Problem is an illustrated chapter book that incorporates STEM knowledge in a way that is fun and accessible even for younger elementary kids. Bee is determined to become a full F.L.E.A. agent (Fenced-in Area Law Enforcement Agency) but Flea just wants to party in the puddle. Each tries to get their needs met while meeting fun characters along the way.

My daughter really enjoyed this story and laughed out loud at parts! I loved the clever ways that STEM knowledge was incorporated. The writing is fun and engaging, with lots of alliteration and some puns. We are looking forward to check out other titles in this series and think you should, too!

Thank you to Owlkids Books and NetGalley for providing an advance reader copy for my family to review!

I really like the illustrations in this book and I like that it has STEM content and questions in the back for young readers to think about what they've read and to help them learn more about the topics presented. However, some of the content did make me a little uncomfortable. I wish the "law enforcement" aspect wasn't central to the premise. I would prefer if Bee and Flea were just friends and neighbors instead of having the law enforcement agency framing to bring them together. Also, Bee's intense focus on the rules and people following them is problematic for me. I also just didn't enjoy how Flea and Bee interacted. So all-in-all this a very up and down read for me.
